Lester’s Hair Studio

I have been here twice and received the worst two haircuts of my life. I wanted to try this place because of the good reviews Lester had. The first time I went Lester was not there. Since I was desperate for a haircut, I let the one lady working give me a haircut. I have very easy hair to cut, I just want it short on the sides and a bit longer on top. I could tell she was very sloppy and it was confirmed when I got home and had random longer hairs all over the place. I went a few weeks later and again, Lester was not there. This time there was the same lady as last time and a different lady. Again, desperate for a hair cut, I tried the other lady. She did a really, really terrible job. I have extremely thick hair, but after the haircut, I now have two big balding spots where she thinned it too much. My hair is uneven and choppy. I’m sure Lester is very good, but so far the other barbers there are not.

I always have a great experience coming here. Haircuts are very reasonably priced and a lot of effort is put into each cut. They always finish off the hairline with a straight razor shave for perfect crisp lines. Stop in and try for yourself, it’s a great haircut at an excellent price.

Don’t let the name fool you… if you’re looking for a real barber shop in the area then Lester is the guy to go to. He’s been a barber for a long time and it shows.

I tried this place out because of the relatively high Unilocal score, but I was pretty disappointed. Even though I was the only customer in the entire shop, the older gentleman working there (probably the owner) gave me a half-​hearted haircut. For $ 14 + tip, I expect more than a three minute cut, which was uneven and rushed. Not returning here!

When I moved back to the area, I had to go through the pain of finding a new person to cut my hair. It has to be one of the worst parts about moving anywhere. I tried a couple places. One had a really good haircut, but was expensive. Another barber couldn’t give a nice cut to save his life and whined when I asked him to fix it.
Then, my brother recommended Lester.
I have been consistently satisfied with the haircuts I get from Lester. He is quick and reasonably priced. I don’t have to worry what will happen when I visit. He is consistent. He also gives old school shaves, if you ask.
Definitely a great place for men’s haircuts.

I was in town for a wedding and stopped in here for a trim… exactly what I got. Also, upon Lesters suggestion waited till the day of the wedding to get a shave. You dont find many shops with $ 14 cuts and $ 12 shaves. It is unfortuante that the local economy has hurt business as Lester does good work.

I’ve been going here for several years. Its an old school barbershop updated to be a modern salon (note the old fashioned barber pole still visible on left side of photo). Lester is «old school» and especially skilled with a straight razor shaving my neck without a single nick… not just once, but for many years. (Even if there was an accident, Lester also had a stint as a paramedic in his previous life… He used to have a newspaper story posted about him successfully performing CPR on a customer) Female barber (forgot name) is also good with hair and manicure. Very Reasonable prices. Men’s Haircut is $ 14 plus tip.
Recommended.

I am now a convert.. . Let me explain.
Like a good dive bar a barber shop should be unpretentious and stuck in a bygone era. Throw in a few dosing old men and the sound of people k’vetching about their wives.. .and you’ve got all the makings of a comforting and (dare I say it?) manly experience.. .
*ahem*
So, I was more than a little skeptical when I first drove by this place and saw the salon-​esque exterior. Worse yet, there was a pleasant décor and *gasp* women present.. .
Than I met Jose, who proceeded to give me one of the best haircuts and shaves I’ve ever had.. . Barbers that can give a proper shave are a dying breed these days.. .and despite all the un-​barbery features, I’ve found my new barber shop.

Good place to get your hair cut (for men and women). However I only go here if the Avenue Barber Shop on Oak Park and near South Blvd is closed or has a long wait and I am in need of a hair cut.
