So I decided to meet my prego friend here to do some catching up because I live in the area and pass this place all the time. At first, I was worried because pregnant ppl can be choosey and the place only has 7 sandwiches. The sandwiches they have are pretty well known & hard to screw up but I’ve had a lot of bad experiences in Oak Park. I got the grilled cheese, which was beyond amazing. You could taste the butter in the bread and although there claims to be 7 cheeses, the flavor isn’t overbearing. She’s not a vegetarian but she got the eggplant sandwich and loved it. All sandwiches come with chips but drinks are separate. 2 sandwiches + 2 drinks = $ 21. A little high but average for the area.

First of all, I think it’s a great touch when a sandwich shop serves you homemade potato chips! The Thai Beef and Tandoor sandwiches are 2 of my favorite sandwiches I’ve had in the Chicagoland area.(I’d never had them before trying them here and I am a fan!). It’s very hard to try something new here, especially when you get something so well made you don’t want anything else! Skip the«5 guys», don’t go to «Subway», go here for quality sandwiches at a fair price! I think I’ve talked myself into dinner!

This is solely a rating about service, particularly in the evening up till closing. I usually come during the lunch rush and have tried 3 out of 7 sandwiches and the food is yummy… especially those homemade chips with that sauce. I digress. I first came during one of the Thursday night out events and noticed the girl working the counter getting frustrated that people were coming in close to closing. My thing is this… lock the doors if you don’t want to make any more money. That way you can ensure nobody will come in. Made a mental note and moved on. I’ve been several times since during the day and the gentleman working the counter is very nice and professional. I’ve ranted and raved to my husband about this place and he loves a Rueben so I suggested he try theirs. We went tonight and apparently they were going to close in the next 10 minutes or so. As soon as he walked in he got the«oh hey we. well…yada yada I really don’t want to take another order» type of attitude AGAIN… same girl. So he proceeds to ask about the sandwich and she rants about how good it is but about how they are closing soon. Who does that?! Take the order and provide the same service I get during the day or lock the doors if you are closed. There was another customer eating inside. Thanks to the poor service and attitude, my husband isn’t interested in what they have to offer. Maybe they could care less about one guy never coming back, but I guarantee this is happening every night this lady is working. Service Matters Every Single Time Disappointed

I had sometime to kill before I saw my movie; I was starving and didn’t feel like going home. I wanted something reasonably priced but prepared fresh and fast. They made good. I’ve only been here once and had the eggplant caprese, it was delish! It’s a heavy Sammie, there are 2pcs of eggplant deep fried. I wasn’t hungry for the rest of the day! I look forward to going back and trying everything else.

I did not find ‘the one’ here… yet. I stopped in on a Monday evening around 6. Shortly after that, the place got very full, but prior to it, was a breeze. I was so torn on what to order, and had 3 ideas in mind, but after reading many favorable reviews of the Thai Beef Roll, I went with that. The sandwich itself was a good size. I was able to finish it, but it ranged close to the line of being too much. The beef was tender and had great flavor. The top was loaded with carrots, sauce, etc.- super good. The sesame bread it came on was fresh. The combination though of the bread and meat seemed a little weird to me. The meat would’ve been amazing with noodles or rice, like a classic Asian dish, but the mix with the bread just seemed on the border of not mixing? I guess thats the point to have it be different! I loved the huge chips that came with it… those were a big win. The shop itself is clean, modern, nice. Communal seating at a table, and they have an area by the windows too. I want to come back to try something else!

Solid sandwich place. I had the cuban sandwich, it was a little heavy on the pickles but overall very good. My husband had the pita which was good but kind of messy. The chips were good. Service was kind of awkward, but the food came out quickly. Graffiti décor fits the attitude of this place.

This place seems so cool. They have Mexican drinks in the glass bottle which I love. I ordered the Barbacoa Torta. I was expecting what a real torta which is made primarily from a specific bread. This torta is made out of a hamburger bund and the Barbacoa meat was missing the flavor. I like the idea of new and different things but I wasn’t so happy with this one.

ehh… It wasn’t special but it wasn’t bad either. Order came out within 7 minutes and it was fresh. i ordered the shrimp sandwich and the salad as it was recommended as the best thing on the menu. It was ehh… Maybe because I’m from San Francisco and the food there is amazing… I dunno all that I know is that I was not impressed. Was almost a two star but pushed to three because they were so nice.

Pretty tasty Shrimp Po’boy at this place… especially nice roll with nice crust and soft inside. .Interesting remoulade. Nicely cooked shrimp(maybe a bit too much breading). Thanks to Janet Lorch for introducing me to 7 Sandwich Shop!

Guuuuuurl… today, I had the kind of sandwich that made me want to march right back in the shop to high five whoever made it because DAMNGINA, it was SO good. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, & I’ve been let down so many other times by cubans at other establishments, that I wasn’t expecting very much, to be honest. But booooy did they change my mind. There was an explosion of flavors and thinking about it is making me want one again :( I wasn’t too crazy about the chips, I may sub for the fries next time, but the sandwich made me forget I had chips. Can’t wait to go back and try the whole menu!

Great selection of eclectically balanced sandwiches. The shrimp Po boy is by all means good but nothing exceptional. The shrimp are good quality and the sandwich is delicious. What I had today was the Thai Beef Roll. Beautiful creation using sirloin steak that’s marinated and grilled, The use of an abundance of fresh carrots, cilantro, hoysin and sesame mayo make this sandwich a stand out. Don’t forget the bread is outstanding as well and it is Sesame seeded yet similar to that used in the Cuban sandwich. Housemaid chips with Sriracha instead of say catchup or whatever are great. Set me back $ 9.81 including tax plus I gave them a dollar tip. Staff knows their sandwiches which is nice.

I had the pork sandwich. My husband has had the Cuban and the Chicken Masala. All of them were very good. I’m typically underwhelmed by homemade chips so I «upgraded» to the french fries. This is one of the rare exceptions where that’s the wrong choice. The chips were crispy and nicely seasoned, while the french fries were really bland. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff seemed to truly care — making sure to continuously clean, serve the food quickly, and ask you how your food was. The drawback is the awkward seating area.

I still miss the Mediterranean restaurant that occupied this space, but I guess a sandwich shop will have to do. Oak Park is a strange mix of really good restaurants, and really average ones(I’m looking at you Khyber!), and 7 Sandwich falls in the latter. The food is good, but nothing to write home about. The prices are fair by Oak Park standards and I think the idea of a shop dedicated to sandwich favorites is a sweet idea. I wasn’t too impressed with the proto-Indian sandwich, but the po boy was delish, and I’ve heard good things about the grilled cheese. For another day …

Everyone once in a while I go somewhere where I am not sure exactly what to make of a place or how to review it after 1 visit. This place is different. Its a welcome find in downtown OP. The sandwiches that I tried were pretty good, the prices reasonable, and the staff was pretty nice. The downside is the real estate. Its a narrow store front so you can either sit along bar stool seating in the perimeter or a large, shared wooden table. Neither one of these options is that great and you have to be prepared to be blasted by the cold continuously on a cold day due to door/sandwich/table proximity.

Yummmmmmmmmmm. I have been here twice in the last month. Love the tomato soup. It is really amazing. Love the tasty chips. Crunch. Crunch. Adore the grilled cheese sandwich! Shrimp po-boy was OK but not the best version I have ever had and certainly not as amazing as the soup, chips, and grilled cheese. Check this place out!

Love!!! We got carry out and our sandwiches were ready in under 10 min. We chose the Cuban and the Reuben and they were both absolutely delicious. Great flavor, amazing bread and hearty portions. We will be back many times and cannot wait to try the rest of the sandwiches!

7 Sandwich Shop took the place Falafill but is owned by the same person. What a welcome change! 7 Sandwich Shop has a straight forward menu: a some sandwiches, a couple salads and soups, and some snacks. It has a good enough variety so that it’s easy to find something to whet your appetite and intrigue to keep you coming back to try other items. I got a Po Boy Sandwich and paid a buck extra to get some tomato soup. The sandwich was a lovely combination of perfectly soft baguette, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. It all squished together to fill my tummy. This surprised me, but the shrimp was my least favorite component! It was tiny, breaded, and scanty. I would have preferred my shrimp to not be breaded — it was a bit much on the sandwich. The check out girl was friendly and chatted with me while I scarfed down my sandwich at the counter. There was also a long, communal table with stools that dominated most of the space. A tall table was along the front window. It was clean, bright, and had a cool mural on one of the walls.

Cute little space I happened upon while shopping in Oak Park. Fun and lively space, brightly decorated and very peppy vibe. A bunch of different sandwiches listed on a large chalkboard on the wall, ranging in price from $ 7.50 to $ 9. All come with seasoned chips. Lots of chips. Ordered The Cuban and the 7 Cheese Toasted Brioche. Both were pretty good. The absolute best versions I have ever had? No, but really tasty. The one thing you have to get is the tomato soup. For $ 3 it is amazing! Some snack items, too. Mini hotdogs, chips and dip, fries, and shot of tomato soup with mini grilled cheese. Desserts are a couple of different kinds of cookies. Two minor gripes, Pepsi instead of my beloved Diet Coke and tiny soda cups. Really the only things I did not like.

7 Sandwich Shop is quickly becoming a favorite lunch spot for me and my coworkers. The sandwiches, inspired by street food from around the world, are different than your standard sandwich shop fare. While they seem to have some consistency issues, especially regarding the chips, the food is awesome when they get it right. I liked the eggplant sandwich(though the bread ratio is a bit high), but their grilled cheese on brioche is so amazing, I’ve had it twice in one week. The raspberry bars are also delicious. So far, the place is kept clean and maintained well. The staff is friendly and efficient. I really like eating here, so I hope the few issues I experienced in their first week of business are just the bumps of a new eatery that still has to figure out a few things, and in a month’s time, they’ll fulfill their potential as a five star lunch spot.
