Are you always in a crunch to make fresh dumpling because you are too busy stalki… I meant reading the interesting profiles of new Unilocal members and forgetting that you promise friends and family that you will serve home-made dumplings for dinner? Well, come down to Yi Ding Hao Dumplings and grab a bag of 50 or two of the dumplings you promised to make. You can’t go wrong when it starts with as little as $ 6! Even my mama-san almost believe that I made them. I recommend going early and catching the lady making them right in front of you to pick up some techniques so you will sound believable– like«you have to make sure the corners are well sealed», or «have the egg beaten so it does not clump up», or «not to much flour or it gets doughy.» Yes, you can sound like a dumpling chef. Do not forget to trash the bag before your guest comes. Tip: Done for the light soy sauce and don’t buy the cheap hot sauce. Pickled stredded turnips are great with dumplings. BTW– you have to speak Chinese to talk shop with the dumpling lady and they do not serve cooked food here. :)

I like this place so far based of it’s close location and cheapness. I got the 50 frozen for 8 bucks, they’re not quite as big as «tasty dumpling» but it’s solid meat and pretty juicy. I’ll have to do more research at this place but I expect to be going here a lot.

I had their 12 fried pork dumplings for $ 3 tonight, and it was GOOOOOOD. They are open until 1am, this goes on my list of late night grub spots. really good to know this exists in the soho/chinatown area. It’s also across the street from B. East incase you want something to eat before you party! It’s also better than a lot of the other dumpling houses around seward park. The most expensive thing on their menu is $ 4.50 and they make everything by hand!

This storefront sells handmade frozen Chinese dumplings in bags of 50 for $ 8. You know they’re handmade because there’s someone making them at a counter near the door. There isn’t much more to this place than the counter, a large freezer and a desk with a phone and and a beckoning cat statue on it. The dumplings are good — far better than what’s available in the freezer section of most Chinese supermarkets. I can’t tell you what the difference between pork and«pork with Chinese» dumplings is, because I just walk in, say, «Pork dumpling», hand over my money and leave with the goods. When I have a craving for pork dumplings there are a number of places in the ‘hood where I can satisfy it for a buck or two. When my parents on Long Island and my brother in Pennsylvania have that craving they count on the fact that I’ve picked them up a bag or two at Yi Ding Hao.
