What a sorry looking burger for $ 10. Whitman’s up your game; Shake Shack is across the street! The $ 5 fries are a rip off. They fold the bag to give you a half serving. What is this the potato famine?

Fries looked like they were left overs from the bottom of the bag. If you are charging these prices at least serve a decent portion of fries.

This location is a poor shadow of the great spot in the East Village. The burgers are overpriced, and the fries are miserable. It’ll cost you $ 18 for a tiny burger, miserable pebbles of fries and a can of coke. You’re much better off going across the street to Shake Shack for a better burger at a lower price, even if you have to wait in line.

Sort of disappointed. Paid $ 18 for a tasteless veggie burger and burnt sweet potato fries. There’s absolutely no saving grace here. Additionally, ALL places in City Kitchen serve tasting-size plates. Not coming here again.

Not worth it for the price and portion. $ 5 for a small thing of fries? $ 12 for a burger? I know this is Manhattan, but for crying out loud! Service could have been friendlier and the wait for the food was kind of long. The burger was nothing out of the ordinary. Juicy, yes. Flavor-wise, unimpressionable. I would have liked to try their other burgers but my first experience was rather disappointing that I am not inclined to go back. What was interesting was that they had a bottle of Sriracha on the counter.

Stumbled upon this yummy place on a random walk. Veggie burger Delish! 5⁄5 yum! Kale chips( Unilocal recommendations) 4⁄5 a little oily but so flavorful. Blue cheese fries — 4⁄5 yum ! Crunchy Service 5⁄5 Will return to try the meat burgers ;)

I’ll never be back to Whitmans. Set the scene… all 3 staffers are busy peeling and sticking new prices on the menu board. I ask how long for a cheesesteak? 5 minutes. The grill is empty, zero orders. $ 10 and 28 minutes later, I get my order. Maybe they’re out of the hoagies the menu promised? A hot dog bun is not an acceptable substitute, sorry. I expressed my displeasure with the wait. Staff is uninterested in even talking to me. They seem to live in a parallel universe. I only took the time to write this, because justice calls for this place to close up shop. Soon.

I really had high hopes as I’m really into burgers. You can literally get a better tasting burger combo at Carl’s Jr. twice the size of this, same taste quality. The cashier also didn’t really care I was standing there waiting for her to take my order while she texted away on her phone. Total joke. Save your money and spend it at Shake Shack or Five Guys nearby. I only gave it a 2 because it wasn’t a bad burger other than half the size a normal burger should be.

Insanely slow and really rude service for expensive burgers that were on-par with(or perhaps a bit worse than) a fast food chain! I went at 6:30pm last night and ordered a simple burger and fries with my sister. It took over 10 minutes for them to make it– which made no sense, given that the menu basically consists of only burgers. The cashier, named Janae(according to the receipt), was extremely unhelpful when we asked her how long it would take and did not apologize nor give us any reason that took so long to grill a beef patty on an already heated flat top grill and take fries out of the deep fryer. Total lack of customer service and unimpressive food with really small portions at the end of the day! I’d suggest McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King or even White Castle instead– similar(or even better) quality at much cheaper prices and usually better service.

I’ve been wanting to try this for some time and I finally did. It’s nothing special. It took about 10 minutes to get my order at 7:00 pm(which seemed lengthy). When I got it, it was in this cute little brown box. I opened it to find a very small burger. The presentation was delightful. However, the burgers we were served in highschool(the mass produced beef paties that sat in warmers all day) had a similar flavor and that school lunch only cost me $ 1.75 and included milk. I was utterly unimpressed and ended up having to eat DOUGH in order to make myself feel better.

I’ve come to this little outpost of Whitman’s many times when visiting City Kitchen. Come to think of it… it’s pretty much the only place I’ll get a meal when I’m here!(Unless 3 Dough Doughnuts count as a meal…) It’s a hair small for a $ 9 price tag, but their cheeseburger is truly one of my favorites in the city. I also love their cheese steak, fries, and bleu cheese fries. The service is quick and the food is food! If I need a quick bite in the area before heading on a Port Authority bus or before I catch a show in the area, Whitman’s is my go-to place.

I’ve been to Whitman’s physical restaurant before, but had to indulge myself again. This time instead of their famed Juicy Lucy, I went for the cheesesteak. Notice that they don’t call it a Philly cheesesteak(because it’s not). But what it is is a ton of chipped beef with onions and American cheese. It took awhile to make, but it was worth the wait. At $ 9, it’s probably the best bang-for-your-buck option at City Kitchen if you’re hungry. They also serve beer and wine. Beer is $ 8 a cup and wine is $ 9, but you take what you can get.

I ordered a blue cheese burger that was their special for that day as well as fries and a glass of rose wine. Everything was average at best. The burger had no lettuce or tomato and was small. I finished it in 5 or 6 bites. I was handed my burger while my fries were still cooking and had to stand there and wait while my burger got cold. Fries ended up being nothing special. I was charged $ 26 for my food which felt pricey for what I received. My friend tried food from a different vendor at City Kitchen and his food was tasted better and cheaper. I wish we just went to a restaurant instead of this glorified mall food court.

PB&B is a great burger. You may think its weird, but when you have it, you’ll know its so popular. Its got a great mouth feel. Very satisfying bite. They also somehow assemble the burger so that it doesn’t fall about, or that you eat all the bacon in your first bite. Only downside is its basically $ 10 for a pretty tiny burger. Think the size of a filet-o-fish or mcchicken sandwich at mcdonalds.

Cheeseburger was very average and rather small for $ 9. Fries were really good though. Perhaps the cheeseteak is the play here, I wouldn’t order a burger again.

Located inside the newly opened«City Kitchen». The cheesesteak was the best that I have ever had(and yes, I’ve had the famous Philly steaks many, many times from the source). Why is it so good? The ingredients — thinly-sliced steak, american cheese & onions — are so thoroughly mixed that the end result is a uniform meaty/cheesy substance that gets placed within a standard, soft long bun. SO. F’N GOOD! $ 9 Maybe you forget the burger, maybe not, Shake Shack IS across the street, but I’d head to Whitman’s for the cheesesteak over a Shackburger almost any day.

With a Shake Shack right across the street, I don’t see this place doing too well with the locals. The burgers aren’t bad, but at $ 8 and with them being the same size as a shake shack burger, it just isn’t worth the value. I purchased a burger, fries and a bottle of water for a little over $ 15. For $ 15, at shake shack, I could have gotten 2 burgers with fries and a drink. The burger is comparable to shake shack, for me, so it isn’t bad at all. Again, just not worth the value with a shake shack right across the street in plain view.

So goood! Juicy lucy for days. There can be a wait sometimes but believe me it’s worth it.

This new location of the small East Village burger spot is the most delicious of the several options in the new City Kitchen food hall near Times Square. The menu is a very small subset of the one at the full location, but it doesn’t matter because it at least includes the PB&B: the incredible Peanut Butter & Bacon Burger($ 9). As the name indicates, it has two of the best foods incorporated into an amazing burger on a soft potato roll bun. For fans of peanut butter, you will be in love, and even if you don’t love the stuff for some insane reason, you can still enjoy this burger because there isn’t really too much of it spread on the top bun. It’s mostly just a really solid bacon burger. We also tried the Cheesesteak($ 9), which happens to be one of the better versions available in NYC. Both the bread and the meat are so soft the whole thing practically melts in your mouth(in a good way). Definitely try this too. On the side, make sure you get an order of the Fries($ 4), which happen to be really excellent. They are nice and crispy and not too thin nor too thick. The menu also lists a «special», but I was in too much of a frenzy with all of the other options at the other neighboring stalls to bother to inquire as to what it was(perhaps it was the Juicy Lucy they are well known for?). I’ll be back next time to try it along with just their classic Cheeseburger, which is also excellent.
