No complaints here! It’s dive-y, but not too shabby. After a night out eating some KBBQ, my friends and I wandered over here for some post-dinner drinks. The beers and ciders are typical, there’s sports on the TV, and there’s darts in the rear. The prices were right, I ended up singing«Happy Birthday» to some guy that was clearly hitting on one of my friends, and a good time was had by all. It’s definitely a cool environment and a nice bar to just chill at on a Friday night.

It’s my first time here, and I’m having a great time. This place is really cool. The bartender is very attentive and the atmosphere is laid back. I’ll definitely be stopping by again for a few beers whenever I’m in the neighborhood.

The name pretty much says it all. They could almost just call it BAR. Which is a good thing. Prefect for a beer after work. I don’t think I could dream up a more simple bar if I tried, which is something this city needs more of.

Came here to watch the US Open, and it wasn’t too crowded, but not awkwardly empty. They had a decent special of 2 PBRs for $ 5. They happened to be doing Pub Quiz(Tuesday night) so I joined in on the game. The one thing I liked, was they go pretty quickly through the quiz. A lot of other bars do long pauses between, so it’s a 2 hour affair – but this place is great for a quick fun trivia night. Service was great, and overall a very chill place.

First time to NYC. This bar has a great atmosphere, extraordinarily pleasant staff and… The CLEANEST bathroom that I have experienced here so far.

Liked the vibe here. Mixed crowd. Dive-y but not too grungy or dingy. Bouncer was pretty nasty/unfriendly though, more so than usual. He came out of nowhere too and checked my ID when I already walked through half the bar. Saw him walking around after, tossing dirty looks around.

After eating out late with my bf we decided to find a bar that was open past 1 am. Lucky enough this was in the area and open. We walked in and the place was blasting music as though it was not 1 am. It was a fun little place. We had our privacy in the corner. But next to us was a drunk couple of women who were practically on the verge of passing out. They were loud and rowdy just looking for someone to listen to them. I can’t speak about the alcohol since we ordered just one beer each. It was fine. After a bit we got used to the noise. The best part about this is that it’s open till 4 am! If you’re planning to stay out with no real plans, this place will not fail you if you’re in the area: D

Almost everything near Penn Station sucks. Walters does not suck. Cheap beer, bartenders on the level. Can be loud or it can be a laid-back place. They have a dart board.

Popped in here on a slow Tuesday night, my first night back in my hometown, but being a Tuesday didn’t have much planned. Turns out i picked the right place. Friendly bartender, sports on the tube, $ 5PBR special … and it was trivia night, so some free entertainment to boot. Walter’s is alright in my book. Reminded me of why this prodigal son wants to return home. :-)

Came here upon the recommendation of my AirBnb host; turns out it’s his go-to bar for casual hangs, which is just what I was looking for. It was a Saturday evening but not too crowded yet, and I enjoyed a pint of beer at the bar while watching some sports. The bartender was really nice and made a point of checking in on me periodically without being obnoxious. The beer prices and selection were good, and I had a nice relaxing time. it’s a totally chill, attitude-free joint, from my experience. When I walked past a few other times on different nights the crowd size seemed to vary, so perhaps some nights are more relaxing than others. STEPHJUDGEMENT: A nice chill neighborhood bar.

The friendliest, chilliest bartenders in the city. The environment and the music is awesome. Really though can’t even begin to talk about how awesome the bartenders are. They’re the reason we come here.

If you’re affiliated with the Magnet Theater, chances are you’ve been to Walter’s at some point, it’s basically the unofficial Magnet watering hole. But other people can come, too. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall, and it’s easy to miss. Inside there are the standard mix of high tables and bar seats, and there’s a dartboard in the back. There is usually one bartender working, and since the place gets a lot of regulars you may have to try to get his(or her???) attention for a drink if he’s busy shooting the breeze. But the drinks are fairly cheap by Manhattan standards, and they have a good selection of beer. Since it’s small, it can get uncomfortably crowded at times. They don’t sell any food, but they do let you bring in food of your own or get delivery. I discovered last night they did have some free chips though… so that’s a nice touch! Is this a bar I’d go out of my way for? No, but it’s a solid place to grab a drink with a small group of friends if you’re in the area, perhaps before or after seeing an improv show.

Great place! They have 2 for 5 dollar PBRs and that’s a great way to end a Friday! Service was great, got my drink very quickly and the music was the perfect volume I would definitely go back

Great bartender & fun place to go to karaōke on a Thursday. The songbook is pretty comprehensive, the drinks are good(as I understand it) and the crowd was accessible along with friendly. Overall, a fun dive bar.

2PBR cans for $ 5, and FREESNACKS! The Bartenders are pleasant and attentive. There’s not much in terms of décor and ambiance, but that’s not to be expected at this price-point anyway. It’s a great deal, especially considering it’s proximity to MSG. I really wish there was more variety to the snacks(always seems to be just hard pretzels) but I can’t complain because they’re FREE and I’ll happily take what’s given!

Decent bar that I had never ever heard of serving«blue-collar» locals and Penn Station-area riffraff of varied repute. The bartender on our shift was pretty nice. There were a few good local beers on tap. The older guy next to us was benignly bombed and moved his seat so our group could stay together. I probably wouldn’t return, but dive bar enthusiasts might enjoy this 8th Ave. watering hole.

I went here before a Knicks Mavs game at MSG with a friend and had a great time. If you can stomach it, they have two PBRs for $ 5, otherwise the beer and drink prices are reasonable. The girl bartender during the day was really nice and we got a buyback or two. The night bartender(Francis) is a nice guy from Ireland with about nine years in the States now; he knows sports and will chat you up about whatever game you’re going to. A big plus: there’s a dartboard in the back with house darts. My buddy Moult and I played a game. The bar is also very clean. While this place could be considered a dive, it’s very well kept and decorated. The juke box is modern, and the crowd seems to lean towards rock/hard rock. They don’t serve food but they have pretzels, popcorn, and chips as bar food. The take both cash and credit card, which is a plus, since I had little cash on me($ 20 minimum). I’d recommend this bar as a regular bar visit, but for me personally, this will be my pre-Madison Square Garden event bar.

A run-of-the-mill semi-sports bar, complete with reasonably priced drinks, several TVs turned into the games and music at a reasonable volume. This is a fine place to go and throw back a drink or two before an event at nearby Madison Square Garden, or any of the other nearby venues. They do not serve food, but you are welcome to bring your own inside with you. They have a handful of tables and chairs at the bar where you can sit and eat or gather with friends. It is a no-frills dive bar, complete with a competent enough bartender. It’s as easy a place as any to meet up with friends before or after an event, so long as you’re not looking to eat.

Happy ~*~200th Review~*~ to me! A girlfriend had her birthday Happy Hour here and I have to admit, I was really feeling the place. It was kind of hard to find because all it says is Jameson outside the bar(apparently there was a very low key sign in the front that say Walter’s Pub but I totally missed it). All my friends kept telling me was that it was across the street from Taco Bell. LOL. As packed as it is on a typical Friday night, I was more than glad to find out that the girls reserved a table at Walters(huge plus on my books, esp considering that it was a friday night(night after halloween) and most bars usually dont allow a 2 tables reservation). What really blew my mind was that they have a very modern day jukebox that looks like an ipod and random people can just go up and choose different songs they want to hear. I LOVED it!
