I’m so sad this place has closed! Was such good food and coffee and friendly people. And it was always busy! Why?!

Sad to see they are closed. Probably got a 500% rent increase from some greedy bottom feeder landlord. :(

Great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Pancakes were excellent too. Waiter was as friendly as it can get ! Place looks slightly run down but to some it might be a plus(adds to the NYC atmosphere). Background music was great and not too invasive.

This place was cute but my friends bagel was burnt was it arrived. However she said the veggie cream cheese was on point. My bagel was good but my bagel had too much cream cheese even though I asked for less. Also the server didn’t put any ice in our water and our waters were extremely warm.

Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had: the Energy Path(egg whites, spinach, tomato, melted low fat Swiss on a multigrain roll). Delivered with a side of delectable slightly spicy ketchup(housemade? Can I buy a vat of this ambrosia??). Coffee was so so both times I’ve tried it.

After reading some very mixed reviews, my husband and I decided to form our own opinion. The conclusion: great food, weird smoothies, not such great pastries, and dirty. To start we ordered coffee and a blueberry smoothie and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was delicious and needed very little sweetening, but the«smoothie» was basically just yogurt and blueberries stirred together… it was strangely gelatinous, not very cold, and hard to drink through the super skinny bendy straw I was given. I love a bendy straw, but for a smoothie? No. The chocolate croissant was soggy, stale, and filled with very little chocolate. For our meal we ordered Banana Pancakes and The Healthy Path(a multigrain sandwich with spinach, egg, Swiss cheese, tomato, and avocado which I added). The food was delicious. While eating, I was looking around, and then up… there was SOMUCHDUST hanging over the entire restaurant. My husband and I were both grossed out, but in an effort to enjoy our meal tried to ignore it. I couldn’t help but think, «this food is great, but does that dust not fall on top of the food?» I looked around some more and spotted dust almost everywhere. If they cleaned it the way a restaurant should be cleaned, I would go back again for a healthy and great meal… but because of the state of the space I can’t come back here.

Never got the chance to even try food or drink. 11 am: They ignored me for several minutes when I walked in(I was the only person there). So I called to them to ask if they were open. One of the workers walked towards me and stated writing something on a pad directly on in front of me at the bar. Still not acknowledging I was there. I asked again if they were open. No response. The man was less than 3 feet away standing directly in front of me! I looked at the other worker and he just stared at me. I asked again. No response. One more time, no response. I walked out. YOUHAVEGOTTOBEKIDDINGME! How do you keep your doors open doing things like this? No wonder nobody was in there. NEVER going back.

What a cute little coffee shop in the West Vill! Great coffee, unpretentious and some great live music. It is the quintessential west vill feel. They have some board games if you want to play while enjoying a coffee with your friends or just hang out and listen to the awesome music. I love the relaxed, non-rushed feel of this place. One of those great spots that transition from day to night well and dont lose their appeal. I’m definitely stopping by again.

We were walking around the area while we were waiting for our Takashi table and stumbled upon this café. We walked in to this place thinking we could chill for a bit and then head out. BOY was I wrong. We walked in and everyone was all over the place. it was so disorganized… also seemed kind of dingy mix between bar and coffeeshop. Divey hipster feel. Not that there was anything wrong with that. However… We waited around 15 minutes to ask if we could be seated. We just ended up seating ourselves after that anyway. It is a weird mix between take out and service area… setup was extremely awkward. The waiters/servers looked high/drunk while they took our orders. Place was extremely understaffed/service was very very slow. It was around 20 – 30 min before the waitress even took our orders, and another 15 minutes before we couldn’t take it anymore and said we wanted to take the order to go. I ordered a cappucino and my friend ordered a macchiato. I also ordered a pain au chocolate. WOW what can I say. I was going to give this place 2 stars if I could handle the coffee and chocolate croissant. but WOW. how do they even mess this up. The chocolate croissant was terribly soggy and the chocolate like clumps of dirt wrapped in cocoa powder. There was abolutely nothing flavorful about it and they coudlnt even add enough butter to mask how bad the whole pastry was. Tasted almost like cart pastries… maybe even worse… I bet I could make better croissants than this… The cappucino was poorly held together and there was not enough foam to save anyones life. The milk was not well steamed(understeamed), even though the barista took forever to take our orders and make it along with 10 other coffees. The macchiato same– no foam whatsoever. She obviously was stressed out while there were 2 other waiters high as f*** just stnading around watching her. I am very surprised at the raving reviews of this place. Perhaps the live music couldve mitigated my disappointment but sadly I did not have enough patience to stay here any longer. Perhaps I came on a chance day. I wish other people better luck I guess.

I was in the west village area visiting a friend last week and he suggested this café for a bite to eat in the late morning. It’s small and very cozy, but not cramped at all. Not really a diner, but a little nicer than that. But very casual and unpretentious. The service was good. Friendly and pretty fast. I had an omelette witch was cooked well and the vegetables inside were cooked well with the cheese melted just right. I also had the chai Tea Latte which was delicious. They have board games to play if you’re hanging out longer. I will be back next time I’m in the area

I almost gave this place 5 stars but I have to hold back because of the décor. It’s not that fancy, it’s a cross between a deli and a diner. This place is one of my go to lunch restaurants in the neighborhood. The chicken Caesar salad is really good here. I’ve tried the panini and soup option but I prefer the salads. The apple cider here is yummy and the main waitress is nice. This is a good place to grab a quick lunch. This review is only based on the lunch options.

Came here for breakfast as it wad just around corner from where we were staying. Ordered breakfast and omelette. Both were good. Coffee was lovely. They do healthy options too like muslei as well as bagels, paninis and soups. Service friendly. Looks like they may have live music some days too.

I like this place. It’s fast and has just the right amount of fussiness without being pretentious. Lentil soup reminded me of chili with the cumin and whole lentils. The half panini and soup is filling enough for me but I can see a hungry or glutinous individual going for the full panini/soup lunch special. The mixed green salad is surprisingly fresh, but I find they are usually overdressed. Have the dressing on the side to avoid. The balsamic vinaigrette runs on the sweet side so beware if you are sugar-sensitive. Again, this is a nice little place right by the path station. I would easily be back for a quick bite.

Awesome place! The venue is a bit difficult to find but then again I am terrible with directions so maybe it isn’t and it’s just me :/ The staff were nice about my being lost and helped me when I called them twice about which street to turn on. As far as the menu, I had coffee and the veggie burger. I’m not a vegetarian but wanted to try it and I was glad I did as it was very tasty and well made. I will definitely be back again.

We ordered a strawberry smoothie, a large iced coffee and a chocolate croissant and the total was $ 12, which I think is a bit pricy. The croissant was dry, stale and there was barely any chocolate. This place is overrated. The iced coffee was OK but nothing special. Pro-tip: right outside the parade.

I can’t tell you how much I love this café. It’s rather unassuming, and at first as I biked past it several times I thought it was just a stop-in coffee joint for the PATH train commuters. But oh, it is so much more than that. Live music every night, healthy(and delicious) food options for great prices, good portion sizes, laid-back employees who can have lengthy discourses about different beers, you name it. I hung out here for quite a few hours listening to music during open mic night, and it was so chill. It felt like hanging out in a living room with friends. The owner smiles a lot and gets to know the customers. They were having an employee-decision-making-beer-tasting(to decide what beers to add to the menu), and offered us some tastes to see what we thought. Happy camaraderie and the arts! Perfect night at a café.

This café/diner was the closest to our apartment that was opened for breakfast at 7am. We needed to fuel up before braving the long, dreaded flight back home. We dropped by right as they opened. They were ready to go, took our order and our food was in front of our faces in no time. I had a breakfast wrap(cheese, onions, peppers, eggs) and fresh squeezed orange juice. Husband had a ham and cheese croissant sandwich and a hot apple cider. All delicious. In additions to a full breakfast menu they offer a decent lunch and dinner menu as well. We felt the rumble and shake of the PATH train halfway through our meal and we quickly realized we are nearby a PATH station. Ah, ok… got it. Service was casual, friendly, attentive. No complaints here.

It was ridiculously cold when I was strolling in the West Village with my friends Carlos and Jamie after a hearty meal at Risoterria. They were pretty familiar with this spot when we walked in as the owner spoke to Carlos like a scene from«Cheers» where everyone knows his name. Even with all the funky paintings on the yellow-orange walls, the look of the interior emanated a relaxing coffeehouse vibe and a fairly packed one that afternoon. What was nice was that it didn’t feel so much like a hipster haven as it did a casual neighborhood hangout with a broader age range of customers than you would expect. The café is right next to the PATH station, so I assume it gets a lot of commuter spillover. Despite an appetizing menu, we came just for a liquid pit stop, so I ordered a large $ 4.25 cup of the Chai Tea Latte with Tiger Spice and Vanilla(see photo). It was warm ambrosia on a very nippy day, and this nip should know a nippy day when he experiences one. Carlos and Jamie were busy discussing upcoming domestic chores over their mugs of tea, so I knew this was a comfortable spot for them. If I was a New Yorker like them, I would definitely come back for their open mic nights. Not to sing. To bask in the good vibes while I sip that latte again. LATTE — 4 stars… the perfect antidote for a cold, blustery day AMBIANCE — 4 stars… laid back and quiet for such a crowded café SERVICE — 3.5 stars… certainly friendly enough TOTAL — 4 stars… a neighborhood spot for the West Villager that doesn’t feel a need to be seen
