Agree with Nancy D. here. Loved the service, loved the BYOB, loved the green aspect, but the food was 2 stars max. My soup was luke warm, cauliflower was bland and overall not impressed. The night Mike B. and I ate there, we were the only ones in the place — which is always a little off-putting. Only methods of payment are cash and American Express so come prepared. If you want solid vegetarian food head to Dirt Candy down the block!

I’m not a vegetarian nor a meat-lover. that said I told my fiancé weeks in advance that for my birthday i would like to go to a vegetarian restaurant. He’s not a vegetarian but an absolute meat head so i was taken aback when he took me to Table Verte. The food was excellent 3-courses each +(no addt’l fee) BYOB The eggplant lasagna and goat cheese tart as entrees left our palettes lingering for more. For desserts, I would recommend the Banana Brulee. perfect and romantic venue

Outstanding. This should be Required Eating for every chef whose brain somehow turns off the second you say«no meat, please.» Vegetarian French onion soup?! Hell yes. Fennel confit? Amazing. Delicious, perfect, well priced. BYOB. Cash and Amex only. Get a table before this place gets crazy busy!

Not a fan of French food, but we try to be open. Table V lived up to the ho-hum Expectations of French food and carried on the«skip the French» of possible standing rule. Service was good, atmosphere was good, prices are fine but the food left me wanting more. As decades long vegetarians who also cook with great skill, pride, and result I feel that the chef and menu design is without scope. Scope comes from embracing the format(French this time) while understanding, fully, what vegetarian cuisine has to offer. Instead we got a piss poor vegetable concoction that had elements of Russian/Slavic«this is all you get, we have decided this is best» devoid of freshness or creativity I expect in a East Village European vegetarian offering.

Excellent food. BYOB/WIne! I’m not a vegetarian but open to eating anything delicious with a variety of flavors and textures. My experiences with vegetarian cuisine can easily lack in some aspect– dishes easily being one dimensional in flavor or just mushy. Table Verte evades those two common flaws. The two soups we ordered were as good as possible though we have all eaten vegetable soup– its their main courses that are unique. For our second course, we had the Choux Fleur Roti and Fennel Confit. Both dishes were very complete in flavor and well textured. I am a fan of kabocha squash so the Fennel dish not only had its sweet, meaty texture but they also managed to complement that with some mild spices and richness as part of the squash breaks down during cooking into a stew/sauce. For our dessert, we enjoyed the Banana Brulee. The caramel crust with the banana crème filling is a classic, well executed combination. The service was excellent. Our waiter was a very chilled out guy with dreads. He was very flexible with ordering and easy to talk to. All of our food was served in a timely manner though I’m not picky about that normally unless I’m very hungry. The atmosphere would definitely be considered intimate though I feel they(along with many other small restaurants) could benefit from more directional lighting to create the illusion of an even more private dining experience. Alsothey have high cielings but the vertical space seems a bit bare. Really, I’m just nitpicking because they are so close to flawless in their overall execution. I wouldn’t take off any stars for this since the quality of the food is excellent for a very fair price.

I have no complaints about this place. My date and I were planning to go to another vegan restaurant in the area, but they had an hour wait — I had no time for that! Like a good Unilocaler, I scoped out my options in the area. Table Verte was my second choice, but it should have been my first. This was my first time having French vegan food. The meal was excellent. They only take Amex, so come with cash. It’s BYOB, which is nice. The menu is setup with 3 prix fixe options for a reasonable price.

Finally. The city was begging for a vegetarian French meal that wasn’t going to cost the diners an arm and a leg. Enter Table Verte. A teeny little spot in the East Village(I hear we’re calling it cosy), Table Verte serves up some pretty tasty and rich food, all washed down with some pretty friendly service. Being the active food adventure seeker that I am, I was a wee bit discouraged by the fact that they don’t offer high chairs, but my little dining companion was more than welcome in their little restaurant. So I have to give a shout out to the hostess who didn’t lose her patience with us despite an overexcited 9 month old in the house. The menu looks pretty interesting, and I was bummed to note that they didn’t have the specials«Roasted Brussel Sprouts & Strawberries» that they’d listed. Come on, seasonal ingredients are the last thing a restaurant should be running out of! Anywhoo. We ordered the soup of the day which was a corn soup — It was flavourful and delicately prepared, and yet chunky and satisfying. The entrees were all yummy as well — albeit quite heavy! I got the gnocchi gratin upon the recommendation of our server and while it was good, it was soo rich! You’ll hardly find me complaining about rich food but I couldn’t finish the portion at all, and it wasn’t because I was full(as you will soon read I quite enjoyed my dessert). My parents got the eggplant lasagna and the onion tart — The tart especially was wonderfully done and I much preferred it to my own dinner. Interestingly, several tropical fruits make an appearance on Table Verte’s dessert menu. Going with the theme of summer, we ordered a couple — the Ananna Epice, which was a roasted salted/spiced pineapple with a coconut sorbet and blackberry sauce. Savoury and sweet, spicy and smooth, creamy and yet light, this was an amazing dessert. We also tried the Aloe Temptation, which was basically like a cold soup with fruits floating around in it. Except that description does the dish no justice at all. Fragrant, subtle and delicious, it’s a great end to a heavy meal. Is it the best french dining experience I have ever had? Probably not, but it is good. And the restaurant has enough variety to keep me coming back here several times. It’s BYOB and they don’t charge a corking fee anymore, in case anyone cares.

Took my girlfriend to this place on her birthday and it was parfait! If you’d like to drink, bring your own wine and you should probably go for the Prix Fixe menu, as the uncorking fee is included(and yes, they will charge you whether you uncork it or they uncork it.) The onion soup was amazing, the gnocchi was amazing, and their dessert menu is delightfully creative. The ambiance is quaint, the music choice was a great surprise(Little Dragon, Outkast), and the service was lovely. I have no complaints.

Drink beer here if you like getting robbed. $ 3 per bottle of beer!!! We drank our beers from bottles and opened them ourselves so there was no reason for them to charge us $ 3 per bottle other than them being greedy. They’ve clearly missed the point of what corkage fees were originally created for and instead are TAKINGADVANTAGE of their customers. Corkage fees are supposed to be charged at a place the SERVES alcohol and the customer prefers to drink something not offered by the restaurant. It is not supposed to be a means for a BYOB business to get free cash off of their customers because they don’t want to pay the fees required to sell alcohol of their own. All of this said, the food was decent I guess. The brussel sprouts were actually quite good but the gnocchi was pretty mushy and bland. The ambiance is whatever. So if you’re down giving them free money or if you don’t drink, you might enjoy this place. Personally I will not be returning.

I had my initial expectations about this place lowered drastically due to having to pass by the highly intoxicating waft of Porchetta. Yes, I’m a holistic health coach, but I still LIVE for some crackled pork belly skin done right. I stood just inside the door and inhaled deeply knowing this would be as close as I got to pure pork perfection on this Saturday night for I had committed to «French inspired vegetarian» a little further down the block… sigh. I met my grad school buddy out front, this was after quickly realizing the long ass line of touristas snaking down the block was actually for«The Big Gay Ice Cream Shop»… Ahem. However, once we entered I was instantly transported into a cozy, soft lit café atmosphere humming with quiet conversation and smelling of(not carrot juice), but mouth-watering, home cooked food. I soon found out why carnivores and«fon-fon-fon» French foodie-types were pleased as punch — that would be non-alcoholic punch since their liquor license is currently pending. It’s amazing how much more affordable dining out becomes sans a drink tab. They also must’ve just installed a cc machine cuz I paid with my card. Our excellent server, Kate N., guided us to wholly satisfying meal that managed to be both very light and mad full-filling. We shared the Celeri rave Remoulade and Sauteed Market Greens. The first dish was a home run. Celery root doesn’t taste much like celery and has the consistency of zucchini. The lemon juice added the perfect zing. Think refreshing coleslaw without raisins nor carrots. The sauteed greens were undercooked, but the flavors melded quite lovely together. The texture of the greens is sole reason for 4 stars over 5. I opted for the famed Fennel & Petit Onion Confit”… Oh. Hell. Yes. NOTES: Since it’s vegetarian, you can pretty much eat everything on the menu EXCEPT dishes containing dairy & wheat. For the record: Mayo is made with oil and egg yolks. Egg yolks come from hens, not cows. In my world, mayo = NON-dairy. I was very excited to try this place because I love Taureau and it’s from the same folks. I’m a vegetarian as well so it’s a huge plus for me. We made reservations within the hour on a Saturday night and with wait, got a table. I liked this small, very small I might say, spot. It’s BYOB — wine shop is on 1st Avenue, and cash only — Chase back is on 2nd and Avenue A, btw! We had the goat cheese tart with yam and salad, mushroom ragout with salad, and the truffle gnocchi. I loved the goat cheese and mushroom ragout the most because they had flavor. The dessert — strawberry tart — was light but not too sweet with the semolina cake as well — rum, caramel, such goodness! Service was interesting — one waitress was very friendly, the other one was a bit curt. Other than that, it was great!

I used trusty old Unilocal to find a veggie-friendly venue for my girlfriend’s brothers, one of whom is a recovering vegan. Table Verte is new enough to be off the leaf eaters’ maps, which made same-day reservations a cinch. It’s a pretty small place and felt rather stuffy on a balmy April night but they soon turned on the A/C, which was pretty cold. Then the party started. We BYOB’d(major points for not having a booze license!) and drank some good wine while the gf’s bros feasted on the appetizers(a veggie take on cassoulet and roast Brussels sprouts with balsamic roasted strawberries), which were a hit. I saved my appetite for the entrée, which was a mushroom ragout(portobello, button mushroom, morels and shitake a la crème, served with buttered pappardelle). Yummy! The gnocchi au gratin looked delicious, too. The prices were very decent for a French bistro. Highly recommended for vegetarians! Go, go, go, because this place won’t stay off the radar forever.

Full disclosure: I’m a vegetarian. But it’s meals like these that make me wonder why anyone needs meat on the plate ever. If the place doesn’t win you over with the cozy vibe complete with decorative gourds sprinkled about the narrow dining room, the cool music, the friendly smiles or the BYOB invite, know that Table Verte will wow you with an all-at-once straightforward yet surprisingly clever treatment of seasonal veg staples. Flavors are layered and executed in a way to never make you wonder if you couldn’t save the price tag by doing this yourself at home. And if you can, by all means, message me with a roommate application.

I knew it when I first walked in. Entering the restaurant felt like de-ja-vu and I had a feeling this was a sister to La Sirene and Taureau. I was right!!! Table Verte serves outstanding vegetarian dishes with a french influence. This statement, which is coming from a red meat lover, says a lot. I have to admit. Initially, I had my doubts if I liked and would be satisfied with vegetarian dishes, but some of the dishes we ordered were just amazing and great standalone pieces. And best thing yet — BYOB! I believe there is a liquor store nearby that if you mention that you will be dining at Table Verte you get 10% off — however the exact name escapes me. We ordered the following apps: 1. Yam cake — A must. Deliciously sweet and not overpowering of the other app dishes we ordered. 2. Beet dish — You can’t go wrong with Beets… this was a cold dish I believe. 3. Haricots — I’m sure this dish was cooked in butter and I love it for that! I got the Choux Fleur Roti which is a roasted cauliflower dish and I swear it was a whole cauliflower that was nicely roasted on all sides paired with a nice rosemary scented quinoa, roasted yam, sautéed greens with a fig and caper sauce. E had the roasted broccoli, which was also nicely roasted… however my dish was definitely better as I felt the various components married well. Like it’s sister restaurants, Table Verte is cash only and BYOB. Thank you for another great meal.

This review is for a Saturday night dinner in January. The space has flipped many times over the last few years. We are not vegetarians but were in the mood for vegetarian. The cauliflower dish was a standout. I loved the flavors and the textures. We got some other things but they didn’t stand out to me. My least favorite was the cheese gratin. It was too watery and the cheese sunk to the bottom. My friend liked her French onion soup. It wasn’t a very packed night. The chef stopped by each table to get our opinions.

I was really intrigued by the description of Table Verte. I’m a vegetarian who loves all things French(except for waiters in Paris). I decided this would be an ideal spot for a Valentine’s dinner with the hubby. Unfortunately, the reviews over-estimated the charm of this East Village spot. The atmosphere was rather meh. I felt way too dressed up in my red dress. The service was non-existent. While it’s BYOB, you’d expect they’d at least drop off some glassware. They never brought us glasses for our wine and we had to take some from an empty table after waiting over 15 minutes with our open bottle. The food was just ok. I’d say this is a good place to pop in if you want a full vegetarian menu, but skip it for special occasions.

More like 4.5. Had a wonderful experience this evening with my dietary restricted book club. We’ve got a mixture of vegetarians, carnivores, quasi-vegans, and food allergies so this place was both very accommodating of that and fit perfectly with our theme(A Moveable Feast). Six people were all thrilled with their meals — I got the stuffed squash which was delicious(much better than my homemade version), a couple of people got the cauliflower dish which got high rating(personally, I’m not a huge cauliflower fan so I’ll probably skip it). Someone else got the goat cheese tart and said it was wonderful, although she didn’t finish the yam cake, and the vegan cassoulet and broccoli/cauliflower gratin looked REALLY good. It was pretty empty but it is a Wednesday night during the winter, and that meant that the service was all the more attentive. Our water classes were never empty and the waitress was very nice. The chef came out to say hello which was nice. Dessert — the banana brulee and semolina wheat cake got rave reviews as well(I didn’t try them) while I went with the vegan chocolate tart. I can’t say I was overwhelmed by it, but it could be because I was just expecting something else(it certainly stop me from finishing most of it and taking the rest home). I probably wouldn’t get it again though. Overall LOVED it and we all said that we will definitely be back soon to try out everything else. Also forgot to mention it is BYOB — we brought some wine and the waitress was very nice about making sure our glasses were full.

Wow, really? Still no reviews lower than five stars? These other reviewers seem disingenuous to me. Maybe it’s because they all have two reviews total. Hmm… seems fishy. There is no way this place is close to even three stars. Sorry to break it to ya’ll. The only positive: the $ 12 bottle of wine we brought with us. The food is terrible. I came here with my roommate expecting a yummy vegetarian meal and we both left feeling robbed of our taste buds. The place was absolutely empty when we walked in and was only ½ full by the time we left. Seems like this place isn’t as popping as it’s made out to be. I ordered the mushroom ragout which came with a pappardelle pasta in some kind of mystery butter sauce. It was in no way a good mystery. The sauce was sad and it was lacking any flavor whatsoever. The mushroom ragout portion of the dish was not memorable. My roommate had the goat cheese tart which was 95% goat cheese and 5% tart. Her tart came with a yam cake she felt had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. Both items were a sore disappointment and left much to be desired. It is not acceptable for vegetarians to lower their standards just because a restaurant is specifically catering to their needs. The food should still taste good. Vegetables don’t have to taste lifeless and boring. Unilocalers, be wary of this place.

Came here a few weeks ago for the first time with some friends. The waitress brought out Korean yam with beet salad to us for free. it was sooo tasty! I don’t think I’ve ever had Korean yams before but they were definitely very yummy! I wanted more. For our meal we all shared the lentil salad, the rice and beans cassoulet and the stuffed butternut squash, all 3 items were so good! For dessert we had an avocado chocolate pudding which was also so good! The chef and owner came and spoke to us, welcomed us and talked to us about them having vegan options etc They were very friendly. Definitely looking forward to coming here again! btw it’s cash only or at least it was when we went.
