The food is just okay. It’s a new lease for the owners, rent has gone up which means the customers had to pay for it. The meals has gone up on the menu but there isn’t better quality of food or customer service. Why are we paying more for the same exact good? The lunch menu has gone up. Soon we won’t be able to find reasonable food for lunch in this neighborhood. Sucks.

One of the last true neighborhood restaurants left. Great sushi for reasonable prices in a no frills environment with no pretenses. It’s been our kitchen away from home for well over ten years.

I used to come here for lunch years ago when I worked in the neighborhood. I remembered liking it, but when I came back for dinner recently the sushi was bland. Bad rice and tasteless fish. Overall unexciting but somehow packed with shrieking people. I love cheap sushi, but this isn’t worth it.

This is by far the worst sushi I have ever tried in my life! Do yourself a favor and don’t order from here. We ordered spicy tuna rolls and Boston rolls and they were horrible!

To anyone looking for a new lunch spot in the west village, this is the spot. The lunch box special is incredible! Tons of really good, unpretentious Japanese fare for super low prices. The sushi is pretty good, though I don’t usually have it more than once a week for fear of mercury poisoning, so my other go-to is the tonkatsu lunch box which is super crispy and tender and only costs like $ 7.

The L15. Sushi(Lunch) $ 7.95(5 pieces sushi and California roll.) was fine, but the 13. Flying Fish Roe 1 + 2.75(Make it: Sashimi) was bland. Empty during lunch, with a B on the door and some worn doors(no vestibule) and décor.

¡Ven! ¡Debes probar está comida riquísima! ¡No, necesitas comer aquí!

— Julia M

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don’t order over the phone like others have said they get the order wrong everytime… This last time is officially my last. I specifically went through the order with the lady… The order finally game 20 mins later!!! great it was quick. Gave my tip opened the bag all the wrong order. Call back. They say there is nothing they can do. 60 dollars spent on sushi and the order is wrong. I can’t even eat half the sushi due to allergies. He then started yelling at me, I past the phone to my husband the guys tone completely change with a man on the phone. asked me what I wanted to re-order. He said it would be on them! Great The delivery came again … Guess what? they charged our card again for THERE mess up… Then the delivery guy refused to give us the sushi rolls because we wouldn’t sign for the charge after we told it was free. He then ran away down the hallway-stop sushi thief !!! We called back and they told there sushi thief to come back and give us the sushi! And then sushi thief demanded he get a good tip before handing us the sushi even though we had already paid twice and already tipped for our first wrong order. There awful on the phone and they argue… I would never call here again. They have no costumer service. If you call expect for them to get your order wrong then yell at you and tell you it’s your fault. it was all Hilarious in the end and a good laugh. 70 dollars later a running delivery thief .poor English and being yelled at by the owner — 4 un-eaten sushi rolls won’t call this place again. Do yourself a favour and never never call here

Good cheap sushi when everything else in the area is super expensive. It was a bit empty on a Saturday night, but service was prompt. We ordered the shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, Manhattan, and salmon rolls and the flavor was on par with any other cheap sushi place. They have good sushi deals with their platters ranging from $ 11 — $ 20 for one person.

Actually, pretty awesome! Amazing salmon Manhattan Roll and Rainbow roll, for a great price. Expected it to be mediocre, and it was way better than expected. 10⁄10 will come back.

Low key, reasonably priced, quick service, and casual neighborhood sushi restaurant to get your raw fish fix for either dine-in or take-out service. Their $ 12 maki option is the best deal I’ve come across in a while which includes a tuna roll, a salmon roll, and a California roll with choice of soup or salad. This has quickly become one of my go-to choices.

I am no sushi expert, but this place is wonderful! The staff are nice and friendly. And there are so many different rolls and types to chose from. My boyfriend took me here twice and he said that he ate here at least once a week. We usually go late late at night when there aren’t a lot of people about. The rolls were really good. I tend to like the rice wrapped rolls but the others were great too. Very colorful and full of flavor. I really enjoyed watching them prepare the sushi, and I belive they custom made some rolls.

Sushi was mediocre… a bit fishy. Server came to our table at the end of the meal and said, «I’m going to need this table. People are waiting.» There were other tables around(empty). Really, lady? Umm ok, I won’t be returning.

Delicious, filling and fresh sushi in an unassuming setting. Great location along Hudson St though! The Sunset Roll is amahzing — inside out(the best way in my opinion). Quick service, and quaint ambiance inside. Definitely coming back!

This is a classic neighborhood sushi joint; no-nonsense, nothing fancy, won’t break the bank, but a friendly staff and big beautiful pieces of fresh sushi. Love it!

My favorite sushi place in the west village. Staff is really friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. The sushi is excellent and the rolls are well prepared. I’d recommend the manhattan roll and sashimi deluxe.

Living within walking distance of this restaurant we decided to try it out. First off the staff is not nice. I asked for a drink and iced green tea was recommended by this waistress. She slams it down and I try it. It tasted like warm dishwater. I sent it back and the next thing I knew she replaced herself with this teenager who assumed the waiter role and couldn’t speak any English, I ordered the snapper and was given a weak soy sauce with it. I asked the waiter for Japanese mustard mayo. He did not have a clue as to what I said and couldn’t care less. Instead of bringing back the waitress he just didn’t return. I kept asking for the waitress in this tiny restaurant and finally she was back with the mustard mayo, My husband’s sushi was very average. The tables are on top of each other and the couple next to us listened attentively to everything we said, This is a low level mill restaurant that I would not recommend,

This is my solo– I must have sashimi, in my neighborhood spot. Staff is nice and food is good. This is not a place you take a date unless you’ve been together for a long time. Remember I said food is good. This is tasty raw fish that you will not get sick on. If you want the most incredible sashimi restaurant in the city go to Omen– on Thompson st, and take a fat wallet!

Only ordered delivery from here, so can’t really comment on restaurant … I WILL say, delivery was F-A-S-T … it almost seemed like 5 minutes, via Seamless. I usually don’t like ordering sushi for delivery but this looked and tasted pretty fresh. I tried the sashimi entrée and Manhattan Roll — very good. Will give the restaurant a try!

*3.5 stars* Sometimes you are just in the mood for sushi, but your wallet isn’t. I tried Sushi West for a casual Tuesday night takeout meal, and it did not disappoint. The fish was good quality and each roll was made to order, so it was much better than the refrigerated«sitting out» Whole Foods type of sushi. I had 3 rolls: a Philadelphia, a spicy tuna, and a larger specialty Green Dragon roll(eel, avocado). I enjoyed each of them, and it was just about the right amount of food… I maybe could have ordered one more roll or something since I had a small lunch. The only reason I am giving it 3.5 stars instead of 4 is because I gave Kanoyama 4 stars, and the execution here isn’t as good. Some of the avocado fell off my Green Dragon roll, and it wasn’t as precise as some of the better sushi I have had. But the taste is there, and the fish quality is there, so for this price point, you can’t go wrong.
