SUNAC Natural Market

This is a great market located within a block from Javitz Center. I hate the food options at Javitz and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their sandwiches and salad bar area. For starters, they have tons of options consisting of sandwiches, salads, juices, coffees, and a great selection of other «per weight» food.
The prices here are a little high, but I’d rather have good quality food at higher prices than crappy cheap food. I’d recommend stopping in here if you’re in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat.

Okay, now to explain. At 42^nd and 11^th Aves, there isn’t much. A nicely appointed and clean 7 – 11, a fancy coffee shop, a bodega, and this oasis.
When you walk in, you find a lengthy store, with an amazing hot and cold food bar front and center. It’s always fully stocked with fresh ingredients for salads and some amazing and varied options on the hot bar (think lots of different protein and starch options, plus veggies and other side dishes). There’s also an entire wall of made-​to-​order dishes, such as sandwiches and paninis, and sushi.
Then the entire back of the store is like a mini-​gourmet market with above-​average selection and very well priced items. Snacks, produce, cleaning supplies, household items, meat, frozen foods are all but a few feet away.
Overall, this is a mighty gem in this area, and always has a steady stream of people in it. With seating in the front, along with a coffee bar, this place is not to be overlooked!

Food is really good. I tried the hot bar and a breakfast sandwich when I went. The breakfast sandwich came out extremely fast and it was delicious. The hot food was also really good and everything tasted fresh. The place is always clean and all the employees are friendly as well.

Dear Sunac Manager,
I just wanted to let you know that we placed a large order today for our office as a regular customer and Stephanie (the name she gave us over the phone) informed us that most of the items on the menu are not available. She was impolite, not accommodating, and quickly dismissed our concerns. She claimed that since this is our first time for ordering delivery we are not regular customers. Despite the fact that we physically go into the store on the regular basis. An assumption on her part as to who are actually valuable customers this is among some of the disgusting things she said.
This is not what they called «Customer Service.»

This place is HUGEEE. The front part has a lot of prepared foods like sushi, sandwiches, paninis and a very fresh buffet. I’m not usually an advocate for buffets but this one is fresh. There were asparagus tips with sliced almonds, crispy chicken, mashed potatoes, salmon and then an entire fruit buffet. There’s also a salad station like chopp’t and a sandwich station made fresh.
In the back there are your typical she leaves of groceries. This place is on the pricier side but you have the convenience of going grocery shopping and basically picking up take out, as well!

3.5 stars. The breakfast sandwich, burritos, regular sandwiches, buffet bar, fruits and vegetables are all very good and reasonably priced. The groceries are convenient, but for the most part overpriced. The service is as a whole barely acceptable.

Whatever you want to eat you can probably get it here. Fresh, healthy buffet (London broil, salmon, roasted chicken, avocado salad, you name it). They have a grill, coffee shop, deli, plus it’s a grocery store. Definitely worth walking through. Great window seating to have a nice meal and read, people watch, or chat. Great use of space. Great neighborhood resource.

This is definitely one of my favorite food places. I love the diverse deli selections and buffet! Also, the grocery store carries tons of organic and items.

Love this place. Adorable, friendly atmosphere. Delicious hot/​cold bar, surprisingly good selection for actual groceries in the back.
It is far superior to food emporium and others in the area, i just wish it was 24 hours, haha.
Decent prices for food, some shocking discounts on select items.
It’s manhattan, everything costs more.

If your at the Javitz center working, Brooklyn Fare Manhattan is on 37^th btw 9^th & 10^th & blows Sunac away tenfold. 5 minute walk.
For those of us who live here, SAME food on the hot bar every day. Nothing for a vegetarian, but Mac and cheese and rice. They used to make a eggplant panini that was great but now only meat, and they won’t make it again.
Many of their soups that are supposed to be thick are watered down.
The worst? The men behind the stations are SO rude. If they make a mistake with your order, instead of fixing it, they give you a dirty hateful look and throw that perfectly good food directly into the garbage right in front of you. It could have been given to another worker or a homeless person. It’s disgusting.
They are never friendly. And forget about the register! Before you are finished collecting your change and purchases, everyone at the register yells out «NEXT!» loud in your face to the next person while you’re still standing there, & then comes the next costumer right on top of you.
Their service and the way they treat their customers is horrendous. I live in the building and so many others here feel the same exact way. We ONLY go there for convenience.
Only a few blocks away is Food Emporium Marketplace. They just lowered there prices from merging with Key Food on top of having their own hot food and large deli area. Go there and avoid Sunac unless you have an emergency and run out of milk or something, like I do. Also, ordering from «Peapod» is so convenient and will always save you money and stress that Sunac time and time again always guarantees. Others in area that deliver are Fairway, Fresh Direct.
Very close by on 37^th is Brooklyn Fare Manhattan, D’Agastino and a few large health food supermarkets on 9^th. They ALL deliver. By far, we don’t NEED Sunac. I’m far from the only person that has horror stories from them. I just might be one of the few who took the time to earn you all.

This is a solid grocery option for those of us living in the far west and definitely far superior to Food Emporium across the street. I haven’t tried any of the hot foods at Sunac, but I appreciate the variety of options, from the standard salad bar to korean bibimbap. The grocery section contains most basic needs at very reasonable prices, and the selection range is not bad. It’s no Whole Foods, but the fruits and veggies here sure do sport the organic title. Also, what makes this place stand out is that it sells lots of ethnic ingredients! For the Chinese section, the prices are definitely inflated, so unless I am desperate for some soy sauce, I would still opt to go get mine in Chinatown.
Lastly, there is no seafood section here, unless you count the two frozen shrimp options.

A nice quick stop for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night. They have sandwiches wraps, sushi, mex, hot food and salad bar. Healthy food options, an organic grocery, fresh flowers, drinks snacks, desserts. I stopped here almost every day of my 6 day visit to Manhattan. A great alternative to more expensive restaurants and food carts. A good one stop for many of my needs. The beer is very expensive though. $ 14 for a six pack?

The breakfast sandwiches and fresh food is priced reasonable. It was $ 32 for 4 breakfast meals, fresh mixed fruit along with beverages. The coffee bar is the same line as the smoothies and we waited too long on line for a cup of coffee, Especially because we already had our meals. There were many workers in the area but they had their back to us and were wasting time fiddling with things while the lines where long. The Food was extremely fresh and delish. I would definitely recommend.

Located right next to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (or Javits Center), SUNAC is a true godsend. From a hot and cold salad bar/​buffet of food by the pound to a grill, juice bar, smoothie bar, bakery and panini/​sandwich bar; SUNAC serves complete breakfasts, sandwiches, sushi and Tex-​Mexi-​ish food and even vegetarian fare.
or NYC, all of their prices were very reasonable. A large ‘invincible’ smoothie made of strawberries, peaches and soy milk with 2 Tex-​Mex tuna salad sandwiches was about $ 20.00 and all of it was delicious.
They believe in supporting sustainable agriculture, aquaculture and all of their meats are naturally raised. Their fish is wild caught. A large quantity of their produce is grown in the tri-​state area and they are proud to support as many local farmers as possible. SUNAC is a member of Slow Food USA and the Chef’s Collaborative.
If you are at Javits or near the piers — this is a great, reasonable option and they do have a seating area and clean bathrooms.

Sunac is a decent place to eat. They’ve got an array of foods that differ greatly so you won’t get tired of what they serve in the all you can eat (per pound) I usually get the small bowl to fill up. They also have a good variety of drinks to choose from. I love that they have a smoothie bar too. I’d say the only downfall in why I give four instead of five stars is some things are really pricey and there is no where near enough seating. So many people are constantly coming in here. I also enjoy their affordable delicious bagels. Give the place a try. You might like it. It grew on me.

Very nice selection however the prices are outrageous. The dairy section is open so the milk feels like it’s room temperature. I can’t tell you how many new containers I’ve had to throw out because when I opened them, they had spoiled due to temperature. I got lemons the other day that had mold on them — I did not notice this until I got home. The place is convenient however I would rather walk a block down to Food Emporium.

When I just moved here (I live in the building above Sunac), I went straight to Sunac as I was super hungry from moving and it was almost midnight. I initially found it über overwhelming, especially around that time of the day — is it a natural foodstore? A Korean deli? A juicebar? A bagel place? And what are all these tofu-​ish Asian foods doing there in the back?
After a while, I got used to it and now I really appreciate Sunac. Ok, it is pricey, but hey, what do you expect in Manhattan? (And some things are actually cheaper here than at Food Emporium!) You can also tell that they do their best to keep the place clean. They are always open, the tossed salads (they chop it up for you if you ask them) are good, if you know what to pick some of the vegetables are pretty cheap, and also very important — the people who work here are really friendly. Sometimes there is a language problem and you have to be clear and specific about your order, but generally, they are really helpful and nice. One of my favorites is the soft tofu vegetable bowl. It is pretty spicy, has lots of vegetables, they give you kimchi with it, and this is enough for two people (which actually makes it into a pretty cheap meal!).
I would definitely recommend Sunac, and I politely request you: please, when you go there, give a smile to the hard-​working people at the food and check-​out counters — they are working really hard to provide you with tasty food and good service!

This place is seriously a godsend, thank you for existing where you are SUNAC. I attend a yearly expo at the Javits and while the expo is fun and well organized, peeing and eating in the Javits can both be difficult to accomplish at certain times. Figuring I had no other options I just sucked it up and ate at the food court in the convention center until a friend let me in on the secret spot she had been eating lunch at during the show… SUNAC.
Somewhat like a mini whole foods they’ve got you covered for all your grab and go lunch and snack needs. Also if you have food allergies or special diet needs this place is the ishh for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan peeps. And what is even better is the prices, while they are not cheap are definitely better than a lot of small grocery stores in New York that I’ve come across.
Bathrooms are clean, and way less crowded than the Javits. That’s all I’ve got to say about that!

They’ve got breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert taken care of here. There’s a natural juice bar, sandwich and deli corner, salad buffet, gelato bar and more. Plenty of choices in natural and organic products. There’s also little café area so you can dine in. Clean and friendly staff. Love this market!

We came here a lot during my vacation. For breakfast and lunch I don’t like to waste a lot of time sitting in restaurants so Sunac was the perfect type of place for me.
They have a hot and cold salad bar/​buffet of food by the pound -$ 7.99. They have a grill and sandwich bar which serves complete breakfasts, sandwiches, sushi and Mexican fare and a beverage bar with pastry type items. All of their prices were very reasonable — $ 4.95 for a made to order omelette containing 3 extra ingredients of your choice, toast & potatoes for example. Sunac also has a fairly large seating area which they keep really clean.
The grocery store section, although not huge, had a fairly basic selection of everything you would need in the natural product range at prices similar to Whole Foods.
