Urban market is surprisingly well stocked for such a small store. Produce is usually cheap (but it can fluctuate), and everything else is overpriced. You pay for convenience… there are not a ton of grocery stores in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is clean.

Yikes! Beware of dishonest pricing!
I went here earlier tonight to pick up some mini containers of dried fruit and potato salad. I wasn’t paying attention when I paid so I didn’t even think about it until now, but they charged me $ 10.20 for two items worth $ 2.69!
While I was opening the dried fruit, I noticed that the label on the bottom of the container said «total price $ 2.69.» It struck me as odd that the tiny container of potato salad could have cost almost 8 dollars, so I checked that label too and found that it was priced at $ 1.52. I have no idea how they got to a total of $ 10.20, but it was clearly wrong.
I guess it’s my fault for not paying attention. Will definitely think twice before shopping here again!

This place just opened near my job, so I thought I would take a look one brisk afternoon on my lunch break. After surveying what they have to offer for future reference, I decided that I would come back for several items. Products seem fairly priced, especially for this neighborhood. Decent prices on yogurt, nuts, and lunch boxes. Though I’ve yet to try one of the lunch boxes, they look decent, and certainly won’t break the bank.
This is a convenient location near the corner of eighth, so if your looking for a fairly priced lunch for the office of home, or just want a snack, its ideal.

Finally, a place to buy groceries besides the terrible neighborhood Food Emporium! Urban Market is bodega-​size, but carries a wide assortment of fresh produce, dairy, meats, and dry goods, at prices at or below conventional supermarkets. Friendly staff and a clean and welcoming store.
