This spot is near the f train so it is convenient but the staff and food leave much to be desired. The table I was at was dirty and didn’t look like it was cleaned before I arrived. The food was just mediocre. The coffee was bland. I will not be coming back.

Rude stuff, disgusting taste, dishonest and unreliable manager I have ever seen. Don’t even buy anything

Great food and nothing over $ 15 which is rare on LES. Good pastries too. Try the Roasted Filet Mignon Panini. Tight space but more seating in the back and a bathroom. Its also 24⁄7. The wait staff on Sunday mornings are so friendly.

Love this place. I come here when I visit my daughter. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food and coffee is excellent and a good price. It’s just a comfortable friendly place and I enjoy people watching while I eat the wonderful food.

The coffee tasted like hot water with Brown color and it was 3 bucks. My friend ordered a hot cocoa and it was SWISSMISS again for 3 bucks when you can make that at home for 50 cents. Overall really pissed me off but the servers are nice.

Staff is rude AF. My BF needed to use the restroom, so I got in line to buy something while he went to the restroom(it’s for customers only). The lady at the front said to me(in a monotonous voice) «it’s locked. He has to be a customer.» So I said, «oh I’m going to buy something.» As my BF asked her partner for the key, he turns to the main lady and asked if he bought anything. She says«yea, she said she’s buying something.» As I’m deciding what to order, I swear I could hear them tell each other to «keep an eye on me». The fact that they were so rude and paranoid that I wasn’t going to buy anything spoke volumes for the amount of customers they had. And the lack of tips in their jar. I ended up buying an m&m cookie for $ 3.27 and it wasn’t even that good. It was too sugary, which I should’ve known from the name of the diner. Too bad their employees weren’t any sweeter.

Ehhhh we were the only ones in place and our food took over 30 min. All we ordered was soup and egg dishes! And my soup came dead last. Were they soaking yellow split peas in the back? I bet they make most money when it’s cold or rainy because people walk in out of desperation. It’s too bad, they have a great location and lots of potential to turn it around.

This place was great! We got breakfast on a Sunday morning, plenty of seating for our group. Portions were generous without being too much. Prices reasonable. They had the biggest grapes I’ve ever seen.

RUDERUDERUDERUDESTAFF!!! :( I really wanted to like this place but food is mediocre at best & staff are beyond rude. We are seriously easy-going customers. I’ve worked in customer service and know what a crappy job it can be dealing with fussing people so I make a point of showing my servers nothing but fairness and respect. These guys at Sugar didn’t deserve an ounce of it. Rude, nasty and completely indifferent. A baby squirrel has a higher maturity level than these guys. NONONO!

They’re open 24 hours and they provide free Wi-Fi. I found the prices surprisingly reasonable, given the area, and the amount of food you get. Service is quick, if not always the friendliest. The food is good too, I loved the mozzarella-tomato sandwich, and I’m hard to please when it comes to Italian food.

I’ve been to Sugar Café twice over the years – once after a long night out with friends back in the day and once more recently with one of my best friends after she announced she was in the mood for brunch at a place with a «classic diner» vibe. I like the idea of places that are 24 hours and this is certainly a cute eatery particularly for late night munchies. It has a prime location on the LES and close to the East Village, so I am sure that it does most of its business after dusk. The food isn’t amazing, but it is good enough that I am not surprised that it has withheld the test of time.

I imagine, Sugar Café only really shines as a place you go to when your bones are tired and you’re with a friend. It really capitalizes on that, with it’s tiny seating that sits besides a window wall. It was raining when I went, and there was a hobo asking for change from cars as they passed through. It only makes Sugar Café a romantic place to reminisce and talk to someone for hours into the night. The staff got confused among themselves and for a time we had two waiters. They forgot our drink order. The burger meat was old(but when I asked for rare they gave it to me red). But that doesn’t matter. This isn’t a place I’d judge based on customer service or food quality. The staff knows that Sugar Café is a bright little corner in a dull dark environment of trashy bars at 4am. It makes it pretty magical, and the staff was very personable without being intrusive. I Loved it, and I can’t wait until I’m out and tired so that I can go back.

Grabbed a quick cup of iced coffee over here the other day. It was nothing special, but it wasn’t bad either. The establishment itself is very cute and located on the corner of Houston and Allen. It has huge windows that open up and they open late! The guy who helped me was very kind and I didn’t wait too long for my coffee. I’d definitely like to come back and try some of their food next time!

Not a fan of this place. I strolled in here post-meal at Katz’s Deli which is down the street and was hankering for a sweet something to appease my dessert cravings. What caught my eye was the delectable desserts staring at me through the glass case in the store. My friend and I ordered a rainbow cookie cake, pumpkin pie and a black and white cookie. We decided to sit in the shop and eat our desserts. After taking my first bite I was instantaneously disappointed. I was expecting the quality of Veniero’s, Magnolia Bakery, Ferrara’s or other bake shops in NYC. I wasn’t impressed. The pumpkin crust was stale and the pie didn’t seem too fresh. The other thing I was shocked by was that there was a bee in the glass case where the baked goods were on display. When we pointed that out, the guys who worked there grabbed the bee with their hands and removed it from the glass. But they did not proceed to wear gloves as they served us our desserts — I was a bit grossed out by that.

3am, crazy long night, 5 starving homies are able to eat like kings for a total of $ 55! On top of the amazing prices, they always provide great service and the late night post-going-out crowd always provides good entertainment. One of the best late night dinners on the city!

Food is decent and has a big pastry selection(which I didn’t try). I couldn’t get past how dirty this place is. We sat in the back of the restaurant and all you smelled was the bathroom. Needless to say, it didnt make us want to eat our food. It has potential or had potential, but needs to be scrubbed from top to button first. Waitstaff could be friendlier — not very welcoming

It’s close to work, kind of, in the summer it’s fun to walk there, in this damn cold not so much, so I order in. I usually order the grill chicken sandwich which comes with avocado, tomato, roasted peppers on seven grain bread and accompanied with fries. The fries are so good and crispy, the sandwich I enjoy a lot. I’ve also had the smoked turkey & brie sandwich which is yummy too. The service I’ve received is good, the guys are always friendly and pleasant, the place is small & very narrow but it’s cute. I haven’t tried the deserts yet. Overall, I like it, good spot for lunch and reasonably priced for the amount of food you get, actually very generous portions always.

After a crazy brunch and a round of drinks all we wanted was some hot beverages n desserts. I am goving this place 4 stars just for the spiced chai. The baklava was insanely large. They definitely can reduce the amount of nuts.

Gotta go with four stars here! After having a few beers at Culturefix, I was craving something sweet as I made my way to the F train to go back up town, to my de-luxe apartment in the sky. I thought I’d just have to get a melty candy bar from the newsstand in the subway but lo and behold… the Sugar Café materialized before me! Their case of delightful goods tempted me at every turn… I almost went for the toll house pie. But then I saw my precious… a giant chocolate chip cookie. The guy who rang me up was nice and his co-worker was very funny, giving a couple that was there a hard time. Also, both were very easy on the eyes. My cookie was great and I left the place with a smile. I’m pro-Sugar Café, and I approve this message.
