I stopped by here after a very long hair appointment, so I was famished, and it said authentic Mexican food, so I was like yeah! I ordered two chicken tacos and they were absolutely disgusting. The chicken was not marinated-it tasted like a boiled chicken, no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The tacos were super-small-there was barely any chicken, a few shreds of cheese, and a few pieces of not-so-fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Honestly, Chipotle beats the crap out of this place on any given day. The only good part of the meal was the Mexican Coke. I paid over 9 bucks for a tasteless meal that did not even begin to fill me up. Never again.

Worst $ 20 I have ever spent. I got a large guac $ 7. It was put into a to-go coffee cup and it was soupy. In what world is guacamole ever soupy? I also got a chimichanga and it was terrible also. Not authentic at all! The delivery guy took over an hour to get here and I had to re-heat my food. Not a great experience. I wanted to put negative stars but I could not go below a 1.

Nice food. The place could look a little cleaner. The menu is fair. For the price, maybe a little bigger quantity should come in the dishes. They’re always open and everything is pretty quick. Quick and simple meal? Thats the place to go.

Authentic mexican food and pretty cheap. I ordered rice, beans with beef stew. It was good except that it was too spicy but nonetheless still yummy.

I babysit down in SoHo and the mom who I work for suggested I order from another Mexican restaurant. The other restaurant had a 75min delivery wait so I searched for other Mexican restaurants and found Puebla — with only a 30−45min wait. Perfect! It got there before the kids were even asleep which is amazing because usually I eat like an hour after they go to bed and I’m starving by then. I had the chicken vegetable burrito which was delicious. They give a really stingy serving of sour cream on top. It’d almost be better if they didn’t have it all so you knew to pay $ 1 for an actual amount. I also got a large guacamole. It was a LITTLE runny. I would have liked more chunks but it was definitely delicious. I’d order from here again.

It was literally sooooooo good. I’m native from Mexico and lived in San Antonio, Texas for 13 years before moving up to New York. I was missing the good authentic Mexican food so I tried this place out today. The mole enchiladas were to die for. The only reasons I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was because the actual place was really small, so if you want to go with a big group, you really can’t do so comfortably. Secondly, the menu said 7 bucks for my order but for some reason it ended up being 11… Anyway, super delicious, go try if you want authentic flavor :)! Reminded me of home :’)

This place is incredible. Yes, they have things like burritos and other gringo delights, but in their defense, boring people have to eat, too. As a former New Mexican, this place reminds me of Albuquerque and fills my red and green chile void. Get the adovo de puerco, close your eyes, and you’ll swear that you were in the ‘Burque.

Gotta add my «as a SoCal» native obligatory feedback. Cue eye-rolling. While it is true that good Mexican in NYC requires a bit of a hunt, as a SoCal native, this place is legit for simple basic Mexican. I mean, these guys freakin came from across the border to cook at this fine establishment(check out the newspaper article framed on the wall). Now, I’m not one to harp on the authenticity of a Mexican joint’s burritos, especially considering that burritos aren’t exactly authentic Mexican to begin with(they’re thought to have originated somewhere in California). They’re not exactly ubiquitous in Mexico, and many legit Mexican places in SoCal don’t even serve them, but, thankfully, if you really do want a burrito, they have some here, and they are of a respectable size in my book. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for this one, but if you leave in the EV and are craving some homey Mexican, waltz on by and give these guys a shot. Try the potato breakfast burrito. Meat is extra in that one, but well worth it.

(Native Texan Here) I ordered the chorizo burrito. Filled with perfectly cooked rice, beans, fresh chopped cilantro and salsa verde. The flavors molded so well together and satisfied my craving perfectly. Chorizo had a great blend of spices and fat that I was looking for. The only reason this place did not get 5 stars was the price. I realize it is manhattan and everybody has to pay rent, but nine bucks for a burrito is a tad bit steep for Mexican. They offer free delivery around the LES so that is a plus with no min amount. Definitely better than anything I’ve had in chipotle so I will be returning here again soon. Staff is very friendly and service is pretty speedy. CASHONLY.

They seem to serve a blend of CalMex and actual central Mexican food. Good basics(red rice, beans, salsa). What inspired me to leave a good review is the various vegetarian options which aren’t standard for X-Mex food joints. My veggie burrito(again, California aka diaper style) was filling and enjoyable. I’m Mexican as in grew up there and I can recommend, but I haven’t tried everything(I’m vegetarian). Also, 3 Mexican(I think) construction workers came here for lunch when I was there.

Very Fast and friendly service. The breakfast is A-OK, wish there was more meat in it. Horrorchata is tasty but seems a big high for $ 3. Good breakfast sandwiches. Cash is king! $$ aka Cash ONLY

As an LA native living in NYC, it’s difficult to find satisfactory Mexican food(impossible to find comparable). Regardless, we were in the mood for a taste of home and went for it. To be clear, the food was alright, satisfactory even. The two stars has more to do with tradition. For one thing, a burrito should not be slightly larger than a taco. We are talking tiny with this place. Though chorizo is technically pork sausage, it is not meant to be served in casing in a burrito. It looked like sliced hot dog for gods sake. Maybe some health nuts like this less greasy alternative. Not me, I want grease spilling out and wetting the inside of the burrito. As far as horchata goes, it should have cinnamon. Seems they left that out of the equation. If you don’t know better, this place is for you. If you are looking for the real deal, pass.

average across the board, but really friendly staff. Got the chicken burrito, which was overall kind of plain but still filling. They give you a good amount of chicken, which is a plus. Sour cream was watery, but hot sauce was amazing. Just the right amount of burn without numbing your taste buds. Price is around $ 6-$ 9, depending on what you get; the chicken burrito came out to be around $ 7.80 after tax.

This is a hole In the wall deli 2 tables inside and 3 bar seats. The food here is amazing! I’ve gotten tostadas to chalupas to tacos, burritos, and chilaquiles. I love the authentic Puebla cuisine! They never disappoint on food The lack of star is for the service The young girl who works the counter is extremely rude! You can tell she doesn’t wanna be there. I hope she isn’t the daughter of the owners because I plan on coming back here but she’s just too much

The biggest thing that I miss about living in SoCal is the plethora of choices for amazing Mexican food. Upon walking by Puebla, I was impressed by the delicious scent emanating from within this tiny restaurant. I had to get my burrito on. What I don’t understand is why is smells so, so good, but tastes so, so bland? Don’t get me wrong, in theory everything on the menu should be wonderful. But for some reason, my breakfast burrito(which was really small…) was lacking nearly all of the ingredients stated in the description. I found no beans, only a small amount of spinach, and zero avocado. And it took an incredibly long time to make on a slow morning, to boot! I feel like Puebla has all of the right tools if they could just kick it into gear.

After traipsing through modern art exhibits for most of the afternoon, this art-gawking duo were famished. During the zips and zooms from midtown, it was decided that my partner in art was leaning towards Mexican. No issue from me, and down we came to Puebla Mexican Food & Coffee Shop. It’s a strange thing, when famished. You’re clearly delirious from hunger(our conversation could attest to that), but your stomach is still sending mediocre signals of «iz all good homes» to your brain. See, delirious. We both ordered tamales — he got pork with green sauce and I got chicken with mole. That mole was awesome sauce(pun intended) — complex and unique from other mole’s I’ve had. Alas, the tamale itself, while a decent size, was dry. The chicken was well seasoned, but thank god for that sauce. We washed our saucy tamales with bottles sodas(try the grapefruit — totally worth it) and now less delirious, went on our next adventure. It’s a tad expensive for what it is, but it did hit the spot. I won’t get the tamales if I come here next time, but yes to that mole!

A huge line at Shopsin’s left us hungry and dejected, but Puebla managed to console us with all day Mexican breakfast and we were cheered up in no time! We found Puebla through the clever and tasteful bloggers at Serious Eats and once again, they led us to a great find! 1. Huevos Rancheros($ 4.25 + $ 0.50 after 12pm): I also added two extra eggs, chorizo and cotija cheese to bring my total to $ 6. It was baked and divine. Plenty of flavor and a huge portion. As usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach, so I packed the rest to eat later. Baking in the oven was definitely the best way to reheat this awesome and huge breakfast 2. Veggie Breakfast Burrito with Shredded Beef($ 5 + $ 0.50 after 12pm + $ 1): bursting with egg, spinach, green peppers, shredded steak, cheese and black beans, this was a very satisfying burrito! 3. Watermelon Juice($ 3): fresh watermelon juice on a sunny day… how can you go wrong? PARTINGTHOUGHT: I’d recommend sitting by the window for some fun people watching!

Really outstanding. As I was walking out of this place my stomach began to rumble and I was worried I may have gotten food poisoning. I decided that even if I got food poisoning, I was still going to give this place 5 stars. I liked it that much. I did not get food poisoning. So 10 stars for this place, I guess. I ordered a wet bean burrito. Black beans, cheese, slathered in a green salsa and sour cream. I had to eat it with a fork, and it pretty quickly became a stew. But it was a great stew. Everything blended together perfectly. Some other reviewer mentioned this but I’m going to take credit for it — it may have been the green salsa that really made this dish. It was spicy, with the right amount of jalapeño flavor that made everything — beans, cheese, tortilla — taste infinitely better. I don’t think I’ve ever had a salsa that single handedly changed a dish like there’s did. I would go back if I could find it. This place has its lights off and the door looks like it leads somewhere else. Very weird.

A very unassuming place based on appearances, but I am not one to judge by the cover. This is a very plain and somewhat dingy looking place inside, but the food is delicious and authentic Mexican. This reminds me of Mexican places I find in Queens! Just order at the counter from the nice Mexican lady and wait for your order to be ready. I had a torta with carne enchilada. The meat was this very tender and soft shredded beef and it came with a guajillo chili sauce. The sandwich had it all: mayo, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and bits of chili peppers inside it. It was spicy but not overpowering. I recommend you get a bottle of Jarritos to complete the Mexican meal.
