I really wanted to like this place but I was left disappointed. First off, the staff needs to be trained. Our waitress(Kenya) was extremely condescending. We waited a long time for unsatisfactory food. Other patrons were seated, fed, and left before we received our dinner. The management was very attentive and definitely appeased us, profusely apologizing for our experience. I recommend waiting a few months for this establishment to get it together.

Hate to say it but I won’t be back and that’s before I’ve had a drink or taken a bite. When you have zero service from the time you enter until 25 minutes later it’s time to hit the jettison button and call it. I did just that. After waiting 15 minutes to see if the table away from the door might be ready, and getting no answer, I took a seat at the bar. It was like being the invisible man. No thanks. Spend my money elsewhere. Update! Karl reached out from the restaurant and that was much appreciated. Seems they were down some staff on a busy night and suffered some service issues. I always appreciate the follow up and will look forward to experiencing the place and providing a solid review of the overall food and dining experience.

I went here for New Years and for their first brunch. The drinks are awesome. The brunch food was delicious as well — try the Sweet Yam Pancakes — but their bottomless mimosa/rum punch option was PRICY at $ 28. I think they’ve since decreased it. Anywho, I’ll be back. It’s a beautiful place with a nice crowd, good service and great dining.

I went back on a Saturday night. I have to say I am very impressed with this team as I can tell they truly care about their customers and their restaurant. The chef now has 2 home made pepper sauces to offer! And as always, the cocktails were on point. And oh the sweet music they were playing! Thank you guys!

Ok food, not the best. Might be because it was Super Bowl Sunday? Burger was too salty. Atmosphere was cool though. Would come back for a drink if ever I find myself in this side of town again(which is almost never)

From cocktails to brunch. This place gets my stamp of approval. I fell in love with the porridge and the yucca fries are the perfect compliment to any dish. Best drink: THETELENOVELA. It’s legitimately amazing.

Hot fire! This place is going to increase the traffic to the Harlem west wide. Delicious and complex flavors with a Caribbean foundation. Take your favorite dish from the West Indies, and give it a solid gourmet flair. And that’s just the food! The cocktails are as well-prepared as the meals! This is my new go-to spot in the city.

This place is great. Staff is very attentive. Drinks are amazing. Music and vibe are an A. Little bit pricy but worth it. People are friendly and atmosphere is relaxed. Had the dark and stormy, very good! The Yuca chips are filling and delicious. Def coming back. Big improvement from the old 9A

This space is sooooooo nice, the ambiance is very sexy and the background music is nice. The drinks are very good which is to be expected from the owners of orange 67. Eric the bar tender made me a mocktini that could compete with any real drink. My friend had a real drink which was also very good, the ventures punch. They have a lounge section that the manager showed us that will be used for a lounge in the future which is super cute!!! We ate the fish and chips and the coco sammys, the FC was great And the sammys were pretty good too. Definitely a cute add to Harlem!!!

*sings to self* Happy 500 reviews to me! Happy 500 reviews to me! Was saving this one for some good Harlem lovin’, and this one takes the cake. I came here with a few other Harlem-ites(the lady included). Solomon and Kuff has recently commandeered the old Club 9A location and upgraded it’s facilities to a high-end speakeasy style rum bar with top-notch mixologists behind the counter(shout out to Shane!). Such an upgrade to the rowdy hip-hop degraded bar 9A once was. Walking in you will find a classy dimly-lit atmosphere with accentuating lights on old-world style rum barrels lining the wall above dozens of top shelf rums. With so many variations of rum, your head will spin and your wallet will thin. But not too much, standard cocktail rate of 14 $ non-happy hour prices is not a bad deal for some premium stuff. You’ll find dark rum, white rum, clear rum, smoked rum and more all living together in perfect harmony that will dance on your tongue to a tune that you won’t soon forget. I read from another Unilocaler that the owners are the same that own 67 Orange speakeasy in Harlem, which I will be sure to check out since I am definitely a fan of what they did with the place!

I moved in to the neighborhood around the same time this place opened and it is my new hot spot. Recently took my friends visiting from Italy for delicious cocktails and a variety of flavorful dishes. Best part was that the staff was nice and the music was on point.

I was excited to visit Solomon & Kuff after reading about its grand opening from EATER blog, and the New York Times. Went with my hubby whom is a rum lover. We were not disappointed this rum hall is exquisite!!! It’s all that we hoped for in a Caribbean establishment and much more. The ambience, rustic meets contemporary with a warm color palette. Sounds smooth reggae music played all night with the lights a dimmed Amber glow. They have a well curated selection of aged rums. We drank and tried food from the bar menu. All I can say«yuca fries»!! Divine! We also tried the«escabeche porgie fish skewers» very tasty, well seasoned, and a great balance of spicy pickled veggies on top. Can’t wait to return when they roll out the full dinner and brunch menus. My mouth watered as the chef spoke to us about what’s to come on the dinner menu. I would also love to sample all of their speciality cocktails. Solomon & Kuff for sure is going to be our go to place to have fun with friends and family. It’s worth the trip wherever you’re coming from, and looking for an exquisite experience and taste of the Caribbean. We drove in from Brooklyn. Can’t wait to come back!

Solomon and Kuff is the newest addition to Harlem’s rapidly growing nightlife scene. It’s owned by the same people as my favorite speakeasy bar in Harlem — 67 Orange — so that’s a plus! I went to check out the official grand opening with a friend and we were not disappointed! Located at the cross of 133rd and 12th Ave, it took over the space from 9A West Harlem. It’s in what is now a quiet part of Harlem, but there’s a lot of construction being done in that area(thanks to Columbia University) so it’s going to rapidly change. I can envision a time in the not-so-distance future where Solomon and Kuff will be the hot spot to go in that area since it has a lot going for it. When you walk through the door, the interior feels cavernous. It’s much bigger than I expected. There’s a sizable dining area with a number of tables towards the entrance and a very large bar area towards the back. To the left is a private event space, which is also larger than I expected. Solomon and Kuff markets itself as a «rum hall,» with all the benefits that go along with it. The music is reggae and soca and the food on the menu is distinctly Caribbean. Sounds like a perfect combination to me. My friend and I sat down at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender Cyllan who is from Trinidad. He was very nice and went over the signature cocktail menu with us. The drinks on the menu were all priced at $ 14. After some discussion, I decided on the Kentucky Blossom, which was made with rum, bourbon, orange blossom honey syrup, cinnamon, and lemon. I was afraid it was going to be too sweet, but it was delicious. My friend ordered the My Mother Ruined My Tonic, which consists of gin, bay & sage reduction, mango, lime, agricole, and tonic. It was on the sweeter side but well balanced. We were both very happy with our drinks. Although we didn’t eat that night, the menu looked interesting. In particular, the two house specialties caught my eye. The first is the West Indian inspired Coca Bread Sammies(the lobster celeriac with lemon butter sounds delicious) and the second is the Escabeche Chunks(fried porgy skewers with a warm onion marmalade). I’m looking forward to trying out both next time. I was also impressed with the staff. I’ve already mentioned the bartender Cyllan. The host John came over to us several times and asked whether we were having a good time(we were). The general manager Karim also came by and chatted with us for a time. Even the two bus boys were nice to us. Granted it was opening day, so we expected the customer service to be good, but they went above and beyond. When the word gets out on Solomon and Kuff, it’s going to get packed. But with everyone listening(and perhaps) dancing to reggae and soca, while sipping on their rum cocktails, and eating Caribbean food, the vibe is guaranteed to be good!
