Solo Pizza

Bright, clean, spacious pizzeria with friendly guys behind the counter.
Plain slice is average, but I’ve really enjoyed the specialty slices — the buffalo and the sicilian are great (Solo’s is not too different from the famous L&B Sicilian slice, which is a good thing).

We ordered a pizza in the aftermath of the 2016 blizzard and received exceptional service along with a delicious grandma pie! Our delivery guy was so nice he asked if he took too long because he walked due to the snow. I told him he was fine and appreciated him coming out in this weather. Amazing service and huge thanks for braving the cold so we didn’t have to.

So I ordered around 7pm the day after the blizzard (on 1÷24÷16). Conditions certainly started to clear up today so it wasn’t completely impossible to complete the delivery so I decided that I wanted to order some pizza. Did some searches and decided on Solo Pizza. I ordered the Meat lovers medium pie and 12 piece bbq wings.

on what was the quote on my order and they said they would be arriving within the next 15 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes and then I asked again and they said the quote time would be another 30 minutes. Well… I completely understand that there is a storm but if there is any delays with the delivery person, the store should call and ask if it is okay that it would take 1 – 2 hours to arrive. So the pizza did finally arrive around 9:20 (2 hours and 20 minutes later). Not sure if the delivery guy knew that it was a late order. No apologies. no nothing. ok fine.
I went to taste the pizza. It was actually near warm (closer to the cold side)… and I saw that the guy delivered in pizza bag that kept it hot so it must have been sitting there for a long time. So the pizza, had pepperoni, bacon, canadian bacon, and sausage. The pie was soggy. The crust on the sides were hard. nor was it crispy (soggy would have been better). Not good.
The wings. were a little on the salty side. Certainly I understand many of these pizza places toss this wings in a big load of sauce. This one was just like it.
Anyways… overall. This review isn’t solely based off of the long delivery. I only take a star off for that. Another star off for the soggy and cold pizza and another star off for the inedible crust. Don’t think I’ll order delivery or stop by for any anymore.

The Pizza is really really good. Probably one of the best classic NY style pizzas in the East Village. Everything else though, is not up to par. The one time I got delivery the cheese slid off the plate. The staff there is also retarded and slow.

I love ordering solo’s pizza at the end of a long day at work. They deliver fairly quickly .
Note: only had a problem once with a new delivery person who didn’t show up. They went to the wrong address .lolz life #deliveryfail pizza
Nevertheless the pizza is delicious fresh and worth the cost. I’ve had white pizza, meat lovers, 4 cheese etc. it’s all good and it’s the way New York Pizza should be done.

Ok, I felt like having penne pasta with alfredo sauce. I recently went to puerto rico and had it. It was delicious. I passed by here loads of times. I thought I would give it a chance. The older guy behind the counter was not to friendly. Its holiday time and he was none too festive. l however got a kick out of rosanna by toto being played. I asked if they had alfredo penne pasta. He said yes, told me the cost and grabbed the money from me. He put the change back as if the black from me woiuld get on him. I was annoyed. But my order was already in. I took it home and prayed at least for good food. I however was greatly disappointed. The pasta did not taste good. It taste like it bits of chopped meat on it and I am a vegatarian. The service being bad is hard but the food not being up to par is just too much. This was my first and last time in solo pizza. From Yvette E

pizza was still surprisingly somewhat warm on arrival but im sure it would’ve tasted better fresh, NOT a fan of the dry crust
–large margherita pizza: i like the sauce but the cheese is kinda chewy. not bad but the pizza coming outta the ovens here isn’t anything to rave about

Solo Pizza was fantastic. The person that took our order was really nice and was very helpful. Plus the pizza was delicious. I ordered the Mexicana Pollo pizza and it was really good. The pizza dough was crispy and had a great taste. The toppings were excellent and the jalapeños added just the right amount of heat. I highly recommend going here!

I stopped in here to grab a slice & I got the white slice which was delicious! I work close by so it’s convienet!

I didn’t even eat a pizza from there today. Just ordered a drink. The juice I drank was month expired. Like really?

Solo pizza is the perfect drunk eat, so good you’ll want to come back and eat it sober. The red sauce is fresh, crust is buttery and the veggie pie my fav. The owner will reassure you that the ingredients make it better than the $ 1.00 slice down the street. Open late on the weekends.

My roommate and I ordered pizza from this place last night. We had the BBQ Chicken Speciality Pie with deep dish crust and we added bacon. I will say, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Hence me writing this review. Even this morning when we were having some for breakfast it was just as delicious as it was last night. Bravo Solo Pizza, Bravo.

Solo’s pizza is *really* good. It’s rich and salty and nom! The crust is medium to thick if that’s a thing you care about.
My main complaint is that they don’t care if they screw up. My beloved and I get pizza delivered once a week, same order every time, so they know us. Last week we ordered and after an hour of waiting, we called to see what was up. They said, we’ll send it out on the next delivery. True to their word, it came 10ish minutes later, looking and tasting like it had spend an hour under a heat lamp. They offered no apology or discount.
That wasn’t the first time they messed up an order. We stopped going there for a time, but it was too hard to maintain our boycott because we love their pizza so much.

The lasagna is to die for. The pizza is different in that its a little thicker than your normal nyx pizza. I would like to try the plain since that is the true test of quality but the lasagna slice was awesome.

Clean, fast, and reasonably priced!

This is single handedly the best pizzeria in the L.E.S. It’s one of my favorites! Pizza is always fresh, the prices are fairly decent, and the people have been nice thus far. My boyfriend and I usually eat here together but today, I brought my mom and aunt to Solo’s for lunch and they both loved it. I highly recommend the BBQ slice.

Dear Reader,
Solo pizza pales in comparison to other pizza joints in the area. The intolerability stems from a significant lack or outright absence of pizza sauce. Solo should revise their name to Solo Cheesy Bread. Toppings were decent, i.e. a single star review.

Had 3 slices — regular, lasagna and a spinach slice.
The regular was good — it wasn’t soggy or hard — it’s legit and the crust was thin!
The lasagna slice was okay. I guess because of the ricotta cheese, it was a little soggy? It’s actually a thick slice as well. There beef pieces on it as well but I wouldn’t order that slice again. It was too heavy and the sogginess killed it.
The spinach slice was also a thick white slice — contained spinach, olives and mushroom —
I don’t like olives so I took them off but this was a really blissful slice! The spinach was not over cooked and was great! The mushrooms brough the spianch taste out as well.
All in all, I’ll be back for their pizza!

$ 3.50 for a Solo Grandma slice at 2 in the morning? Yes, please!
A good place to go after the bar. Very clean, good tasting pizza, nice staff.
