Disgusting! The waitress sipped on the cocktail before serving it to my friend. Horrible service. The waitress was about to sip on the second cocktail but caught us glancing at her and stopped herself. Never have I had such an intolerable, inhospitable and obnoxious attitude from anyone before. She deserves to be sacked for such behavior. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Cocktails are nice and so is the ambience. Music is average but the waitress is way too spooky and cunning. I noticed her doing something unusual not just once but twice. I was unable to confront! The first time I noticed she took a sip from my drink(grapefruit martini) before serving and so after a while I repeated the drink and whoa! She tried to do it again but then gave me a side look and saw that I was observing! Ofcourse she did not have a sip off my second drink but seriously is that what I am paying for??? BEWARE!

This review is for Shade to Go. I ordered a crêpe, which the man at the window confirmed would be $ 5. I gave him $ 20 and he gave me back $ 12. Unfortunately, I only realized it when I got to the subway and was too lazy to go back and ask for $ 3. I suspect he purposefully shortchanged me because he gave me the money back folded(a $ 10 bill and two singles), which people don’t normally do. On another note, the crêpe was actually pretty bad. Dry and tasteless. That might’ve just been my combo of items, but I don’t think I’ll come back.

My friends and I decided we wanted crepes, but we also wanted to drink, so this place was perfect. As soon as we arrived, we got seated, and then the nice waitress gave us each a menu with a crazy selection of crepes and some weird wild cocktails. I suggest you don’t get pineapple with bananas in a crêpe, cause that was really really weird. We got the Mongolian MF(motherf-er) and one of my friends promptly got wasted. It was a fun night.

Great little place! Not locals, but we know food and the crepes are amazing! The bananas were fresh and hot spiked apple cider was strong. Jonathan was a great bartender and super friendly. Definitely coming back when we make it to the city!

We loved this place! We stumbled in on Halloween night 2015. The service was great. Excellent cocktails. Try the cherry cosmo or pear martini. Tasty prosecco too. The cheese plate hit the spot. Also excellent people watching for Halloween in NYC. We’ll return!

This is a pretty cool bar I discovered due to a friend-who’s a regular patron. Pretty nice seating arrangements and a relaxing atmosphere, although I’m generally not a fan of the extremely dark, candlelit restaurant. That said, with the exception of the service-which left something to be desired-I really enjoyed myself. Wasn’t able to sample any of the vaunted crepes, but the chocolate crêpe my friend devoured looked and smelled delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun dessert in the Village.

This is a small, relaxing spot with a great happy hour, friendly service and good drinks. I really enjoyed the old-school mix of music they were playing, and the volume was good. A nice spot in the Village to meet friends and enjoy a chat over a drink.

I’ve now been here 3 or 4 times. Considering I live in Melbourne Australia, I think that speaks for itself. A cute little bar located just of bleecker st near NYU. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but once you enter, you’ll feel like you’re home. The bar staff are amazing! I can’t stress that enough. They are cool! All my visits were the same. Amazing, attentive personable service. If I lived in the city, this would be my local.

Very dope low key chill spot. Not many places left in the city that make you feel like you stumbled upon a well kept secret. I fuck wit it.

The best combination of crepes and wine in NYC. You can get pretty much any combination you can dream of. We take out from here all the time.

I’m not a huge fan of crepes but this station for some reason caught my eye so when a friend insisted I get one and he’ll pay for it, I couldn’t say no. lol I chose pineapple and strawberry as my filling because those are two of my favorite fruits. I asked the crêpe maker who was very friendly by the ways what goes best with those fillings. He suggested Nutella or Dulche de Leche and since I dislike Nutella, I went for the latter option. The server took his time making the crêpe and he seemed to really enjoy his job. The crêpe came in a platter with napkins and fork and seemed very delicious. The crêpe smelled really nice and looked nice too. Now the bad news: the pineapples came from a can! For $ 7, I was expecting fresh fruits. The clash between the fresh strawberries and the canned pineapples were not good at all. Not to mention the dulche de leche was probably spoiled cos’ I got a very bad stomach ache after eating it. I should’ve said something as soon I saw the maker bring out the DOLE canned pineapples. I should’ve chosen another filling.

Ordered«take-out» with a few of my co-workers while attending a conference at NYU. There was a HUGE assortment of crepes and it was really difficult to make a decision! I thought about getting five crepes, but then I remembered that I needed to fit in a bikini this summer. Anyway, I decided on French brie, ham, and spinach. What a combo!!! Absolutely delicious and so filling. The combination of melty brie and ham, and then the crunch of the spinach was great. The person in the window was very friendly and helpful, and the crepes were made fairly quickly. I did get the feeling that the crepes were kind of greasy/oily, perhaps too much oil and butter on the griddle where they were cooking. Anyway, I would definitely stop by if I am in the area! This place is absolutely adorable. Can’t wait to try eating inside!

The very best takeout window for all sorts of crepes to go! Have gone there for 13 years! We found it down the block from where we took a childbirth class.

I can see why this is one of Eric J’s favorite bars. The atmosphere is super chill and cozy, and it attracts a really interesting crowd: couples on dates(GET A ROOM! Just kidding… Keep it PG-13), beautiful drag queens(want to swap your long legs for my stubby ones?), and friends getting post-dinner drinks. They also have crepes, both sweet and savory ones… just in case you decide you’re hungry after that gin and tonic. It’s a couple notches above divey and the bathroom is nice. It’s nice to be able to actually hear each other without shouting across the table, so it’s perfect for swapping scandalous stories and catching up with friends. My friend got the banana and nutella(or is it banana and chocolate?) crêpe. She’s kind of a crêpe snob, so she said it was just okay. I like that there are lots of bottles under $ 30(side note to the young’ns: I always thought that I would be a more sophisticated wine drinker as I age… I have yet to reach that stage). Service was attentive and friendly. I know Eric J threw a pretty epic birthday bash here a couple years ago, so I know you can rent out the space for a private party. The place is not that big, but there was plenty of seats available when we were here late Friday evening. Definitely a good place for a chill night out or to figure out where to go next.

ALERT — this is my new favorite bar in NY. Seriously, I adore this bar. It is really intimate with very friendly service and the perfect oldies on in the background. The mixed drinks that I’ve tried are delicious(hello cherry martini) and the beers are cheap. Whenever I’ve come with my girlfriends on a Friday night we have managed to get a table not too long after arriving. Other bonuses include 2 bathrooms for the small space(no lines! yay!) and some amazing smelling crepes that I have yet to try. It’s the perfect place to relax and have a drink or two or to pregame your night and I will continue to come back frequently.

Quite possibly one of my favorite bars in the city. Surprised it took me this long to write a review. I actually rented the place out for a party a couple years ago and it was one of the best nights I had in the city. So yeah, I might be a little biased. Owners are super chill, easy to work with, and very friendly, and that always helps make the experience more enjoyable. This seems like a pretty basic divey bar with standard creperie attached to it, right? But the service is consistently attentive, and the prices are better than most places. I wouldn’t recommend taking a crêpe to go, because they can get soggy really fast, but both the sweet and savory crepes I’ve tried are pretty great, so you can’t really go wrong. Crepes are also pretty reasonably priced, so it’s not a bad accompaniment to your drinks. I’ve had dates here, small group get-togethers, and I’ve always a had a good time. Ambiance is pretty intimate and they always play pretty good music here. Kinda wish they had A/C here over the summer though, but nonetheless, summer nights here with friends are still always fun. Also, I had the best dirty martini I’ve ever had here. Don’t know what it was, but it just the right amount of bite and sourness. Overall, you really just can’t go wrong with Shade. It’s one of the rare bars in New York City that is perfect the way it is, something you can’t say for 95% of the bars you encounter here. I might be hyping it up a bit much, but chances are you’re gonna have a good, nay, great time here.

During Cinco de Mayo, we randomly stumbled in. They had tequila, so(of course) we knocked back shots of the vile stuff. Shade is very much a locals bar, but welcomes non-locals(like me). Its intimate size and setting makes it an ideal place for a date, or for easy conversation with a friend. Or friends. No matter where you live, you can get to Shade without any hassle: it’s conveniently close to West 4th and NYU N/R subway stops. If you see bartender Laurie, tip her extra; she’s the bees’s knees, and her music mix’ll keep your foot tapping.

This is the ideal spot for a nightcap. Remember what nightcaps are? That’s what Dean Martin used to say in a red silk smoking jacket in one of his cheesy 1960’s comedies. It was basically a euphemism for an anticipated roll in the hay with some unsuspecting starlet who turned out to be a virgin from his hometown. That was probably Shirley MacLaine at her perky pixie peak. I don’t think anybody uses that archaic term anymore, but it would fit here. I mean the libation part of the term, not the roll in the hay, as they serve these decadent $ 12.50 Espresso Martinis that made me feel like Lee Remick just before booze took over her life and her looks in «The Days of Wine and Roses». Too many baby boomer movie references? Sorry… My colleague Stephanie suggested coming to her favorite watering hole after our wonderful dinner at the Lion nearby. She lives just up the block, so it was the perfect place for us to chill and chat about life, work and all points in between. The space is small and low-key, and on a weeknight around 9PM, pretty darn quiet with only a few customers chatting up the bartender at the back-lit bar. We sat at a table for two, and Stephanie knew to order those martinis. Just sweet enough with an eventual horse kick. OK, we had two rounds, we just couldn’t help it. Like I said, I was Lee Remick, so she must have been Jack Lemmon. I thought I’d be up all night, but the alcohol must have burned off the caffeine… that’s my story and I’m sitcking to it. At least she only had half a block to walk. Cab… CAB! DRINKS — 4 stars… espresso martinis are not on my flexitarian diet…285 calories each… oy! AMBIANCE — 4 stars… low-key vibe makes me want to hangout for hours which we may have done… I don’t remember SERVICE — 3.5 stars… the bartender came by to see if we were still conscious, I think TOTAL — 4 stars… good thing I don’t live in the ‘hood…I would go from«The Days of Wine and Roses» right to «Barfly»
