This as definitely a tourist trap. I got seek after my fettucine alfredo that were way to expensive! Avoid this place at all cost.

I’m underwhelmed. I’m not 100% sure what our waitresses name was(the receipt said Margherita) but she was awfully rude. She seemed very annoyed with us from the moment we sat down, although the restaurant was entirely empty when we arrived. It took so long to get a refill on my water that I actually had to pause from eating my pasta. This ran true for my entire family, our entire meal. Unacceptable. She brought our bread out at the same time as our actual food, which was odd, but fine. When my dad ordered a pizza with peppers on it, she replied«no, won’t cook evenly, no peppers»… I’m not a pizza making expert, but until today, peppers on a pizza has never been an issue. I’ve been a waitress before so normally I’m not quick to judge my server. But not refilling drinks and being downright rude to guests that are just trying to enjoy their day is uncool. You’ll make more money if you’re good to your guests. All in all, in my opinion, mediocre food and crappy service.

After exploring the city all day I had to write a review on my dinning experience. Arrived finally in my peaceful hotel room and felt the need to write a review on my experience in Sal’s Pizzeria in little Italy. Before I did that I read a few reviews and I came across one of them who blame waitress for not giving water on time. That struck a nerve. I also remember that person well. When me and my party of six walked in waitress asked nicely to remove backpacks placed on our table. This waitress was on her game. she handled absolutely full dinning room without a help of a busboy and a food runner and had time to joke with some of the people. I was waitress myself for 20+ years and I know how hard it can be and I’m not from NY. It truly was amazing to watch her. this woman needs to get a life! Overall the service was perfect and food was delicious! I would recommend the place to everyone who is traveling to NYC.

I didn’t enjoy this restaurant. The actual dining area is located at the back with no real windows. The food was basic. Merlot wine was watery. I think there are better options in Little Italy.

Service was exceptional! Stopped in for lunch while exploring Little Italy and on our way to SoHo from Gramercy Park. The Carne Calzone was off the charts! Fried Zucchini as well was phenomenal! Huge portions for a reasonable price!

Great slices. Always have the grandma. Sauce is lil chunky and tastes like tomatoes. Doesn’t taste like paste or from a can, even though it may be. There’s just enough and for me that means when I fold it a lil sneaks out. Not too much oil either. Sorry for those that want it dripping to your elbow. I add a lil salt and oregano. Cheese tastes like the good stuff, nothing too fancy. The crust is about a half inch, don’t forget it’s a g-ma. I have them crisp it up. What I love is that it’s not too chewy, your not chewing the same bite over and over to break it down.

We stopped for a slice only — for $ 10, we scored 2 sausage slices and cans of soda. The slices are plenty large and exactly what I was hoping for from«NY pizza». The crust was perfectly crisp and chewy, the sauce wasn’t too sweet and it wasn’t greasy at all meaning they use good cheese. The toppings didn’t slide off when I took a bite either. If you want a sit down meal, Sal’s certainly does that but I was plenty happy with my quick slice.

I’m currently in New York on a three night, four day solo vacation and am staying in The Bowery, close to the classic and beautiful Little Italy. Normally, I grab a pizza from Lombardi’s, but since I’m visiting on my own, an entire pizza pie was too much pizza for me(never thought I’d say those words) and since I’m unable to bring outside food to my room(hotel rules) I needed a quiet spot and a personal size pizza to enjoy. I’d read the reviews about Sal’s and, since it’s right around the corner, decided to give it a try. I couldn’t have been more pleased I was greeted at the door by Francesco. When I advised him it would be a table for one, he smiled and said«not to worry. It’ll be you and me!» He showed me to a table in the dining room and advised the server to bring me a glass of wine, on the house. The server was lovely. I didn’t catch her name but I believe I heard another server call her Maria, though I may be mistaken. The food was brought out promptly and was delicious. I ordered the margherita pizza and, paired with my wine, had a cozy, warm and delicious dining experience. I can’t recommend Sal’s enough and will be sure to visit again when I return, thanks to Francesco and his staff’s hospitality.

Great pizza. Awful mozeralla sandwich-type appetizer — really tasted like it was fried in month old grease. Service is not super attentive. I think that have one server for the whole back restaurant. All that being said, the pizza was great and we’ll continue to go back just for the pizza.

Great pizza guy. Called him when pulled up in front and placed order so I would not get ticket for parking. When order was ready he waved me in. Pizza very traditional old world. Very hard to find good pizza any more. This place has been a stop of mine for the past 10 plus years. Never fails. Sent a pic to best friend in Texas he loves this place. Mad he stuck in Texas this place brings back good time

Delicious pizza and quiet sit down restaurant in the back to get out of the city. You can get a slice on the go, or like us choose to sit in the restaurant. It was quiet and the large Americano pizza was delicious!

We stopped here for quick slices and talked to the owner a little bit, really nice man! And the slices were regular cheese with toppings added on it which wasn’t really special and I could get anywhere.

Sal’s Little Italy NY Manhattan Little Italy 9pm Thursday 4th February 2016 Four Stars On a suggestion from a true New Yorker, I went to Sal’s to try their Fried Calzone. The dough was freshly rolled, stuffed with Sausage, Pepperoni, Meatballs, Mozzarella, and Ricotta, and then deep fried until golden brown.(You can have it baked if you are health conscious, not recommended). I ate it in the front section but there is a full service restaurant in the back. I forgot to ask for red sauce which would have made it perfect. The crust was crispy, the inside was flaky. The meat was piping hot but the mozzarella was melted. Overall, a delicious and filling bite to eat.

Best pizza in NYC… The family owned business makes you feel right at home! Great pizza. You will NOT be disappointed! We love it! Wish they were in Texas… We come every time we come to the city to visit my daughter!

What a waste! Couldn’t get my Unilocal app to work so we went in looking for pizza blind. MISTAKE! The pizza was on par with any mall eatery. Bland sauce, cheese slid right off and to top it off they add the tip to the bill without asking. Poor form Sal!

This was a great family owned and run restaurant. The service was fantastic and hospitable. We ordered the famous fried calzone and pasta. Everything we ate was delicious but I would have to say that the calzone and pasta didn’t have as much flavor as I was hoping for. I found myself adding lots of salt and pepper. Fried calzone — pepperoni, peppers, cheese Pasta — carbonara

Had lunch here with my boss yesterday, the area was bustling as the San Gennaro feast was going on outside. The dining room décor is cute, very rustic looking with lots of brick and oil paintings, a tv played Serena Williams shocking loss at the US Open. The service was ver fast and friendly. I had a Sausage and Broccoli Rabe hero and as you can tell from my reviews I am a Rabe fan. Felt the Rabe here was a bit too stemmy and tough to chew and had to take some of it out, could have used more garlic and chii flakes as well, the sausage was cut into disks and was pretty good. Had a decent flavor and I liked how some of the thinner slices got crunchy, like sausage chips! The bread was good and the price wasnt as inflated as the area would make you think.

I’m all about honesty. And this guy was not. When we paid he told us a different price from what he had originally told us and claimed that he meant cheese pizza was $ 3/slice and pepperoni was $ 4/slice. Just the way he had just switched it on us was bull. And I can tell that he did. I’m not being cheap here. I don’t mind the $ 4. I just like honest business. Pizza was okay. Out of all the pizza places here. I wouldn’t come back. I’ll just go next door.

Nette unscheinbare Pizzeria in Little Italy.
