Really good burger. UWS so needs a good burger spot. I had the Aussie burger, which was pretty good for an American made Aussie burger!

Do yourselves a favor and head over to Richies for excellent burgers, fries, and wings immediately. This no nonsense burger joint is everything I hoped it would be. Great beer selection, fun staff and the kind of place that will learn your name and usual order. They have veggie burgers too! Richie himself is a charming man that knows how to make a burger. Go. Eat. Repeat.

DRINKS: N/A — Seems like they have good draft beer selection SERVICE: Professional, efficient and very nice. No complaints. DECOR: Nice and clean. a restaurant and meat deli counter together. FOOD/PRICE: Schatzie burger($ 11) — 5 Stars. — Perfect at medium rare, it was just juicy and thinly sliced red onion on it just made it perfect. Fries($ 4) — OK. home cut fries. I don’t think they were twice fried. Some of them were not crispy. Mac & Cheese side($ 10) — 1 Star. It looked like the cheese was curdled and there were tons of oil at the bottom of the dish. wasn’t particularly cheesy but very oily. Interesting that it was made with ziti. but the milk and oil from the cheese got separated and looked and tasted bad. It definitely is not worth $ 10. Pulled Pork Sandwich($ 14) — OK. The BBQ sauce was too sweet for my liking but by all means if you like it that way.

service was great, decent beer selection and food was pretty good. i came here for the burger, which people rave about… in reality, my burger was pretty average overall, but this could have been due to the fact that i ordered medium rare and it was cooked more like medium well. the great surprise — we also ordered the dirty brisket sandwich, which was the real highlight of the trip. i’d order the brisket again and again… it was awesome. fries were average but onion rings were very good.

We love the burgers — but the turkey burgers are incredible — always perfectly cooked — When you are in the mood for a casual meal served by a friendly staff — Richie’s is the place to go! We can’t wait till they start delivering!!!

This place is very awesome. The ambiance is super fun, owners seem to always be there are friendly and helpful. Burger = great, medium rare cooked to order. Sliders were also terrific. Fries and onion rings = epic, very well done. better than the burger maybe, which is saying something. Craft beers on tap? you bet! Would recommend the butcher shop as well.

I was craving a burger without any extra fuss(eggs, beets, avocado, etc), and stumbled upon this joint. Hidden in a butcher shop, it surprised me, emanating a pleasant, clean aura with its green and white checkered theme and spectacular service. Waited a bit for my burger to be prepared, but it was during busy hours so that was standard. Got the Schatzie medium rare. Bun was a little oily on top, but the meat was juicy and made just as I requested. Not mind-blowing but very satisfactory. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, well-made burger. Cash-only though!

The meat is excellent the service and atmosphere leave a great deal to be desired. The place is stark and unwelcoming. It is impossible to know there is a restaurant just walking by. The tables are completely uninviting; no set up, just a bare table with some cheap beer advertising coasters. They DONOTTAKECREDITCARDS, «There’s a cash machine down the block» Burger and drinks for two adults and two children is easily $ 100! Most people don’t usually walk around the neighbourhood during the day with $ 100 bucks in their pocket. The owners have their own table in the back where they conduct business and phone calls! I do not wish to be privy to an owner’s business when I am in a restaurant! The butcher sells fabulous meat. I would give this a TWO were it not for the meat. I have stopped going because it is very unpleasant. Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Very nice service and the basic burger and fries were delicious. Salad was pretty boring, though. I’d like to come back both for eat in and for the meals to go.

Brisket baby! I could swim in the gravy. Awesome add to the neighborhood that still feels a bit like good old-time Upper West Side, thanks to the fact that this casual lunch/dinner spot is owned by(and adjacent to) the landmark Shatzie’s Butchery. It’s run by Shatzie 2nd generation son Ritchie. The operation moved here from Amsterdam Ave(or was it Columbus??) I LOVE supporting this UWS family-run icon of a place and recommend local folks to do the same. Super high quality meat. Everything on the menu keeps to high standards including addictive sweet potato fries. You can also take something fresh home with you from the butcher’s deli counter. We opted for some awesome fresh chicken and their home prepped chopped liver. Just like my bubby used to make… yum!(…just think pâté folks!)

Had a really tasty burger and sweet potato fries«to go» — meat was fantastic, perfectly done and flavorful. The fries were also really flavorful and good(a little soggy from my walk home, but a minute in the toaster oven got their crispiness back, and I can’t blame Richie’s for that). It is a little pricey, but the quality is admittedly very high.

We just moved from the UES where a burger at JG Melon was a weekly thing. I’d still go back occasionally for a burger there but I“m happy to report we’ve found a great replacement in Richie’s Burger Joint on the UWS. We stopped in on a weekend afternoon and found the place pretty empty — surprising considering our burgers were so good! I had the classic Schatzie Burger — plain beef patty with lettuce, tomato and onion on a roll. Husband had the Aussie with fried egg, beets and pineapple and said he enjoyed that too. French fries were tasty and disappeared easily from our table. They also have a great selection of beers. Most importantly though is the great vibe of the place. It’s really relaxed and friendly with a great and attentive wait staff. I love also that the burger joint is attached to the butcher shop, so you know you’re getting the best freshly ground meats. Place is CASHONLY at the moment. We will definitely be going back!

There are so many burgers in NYC. The burger here is alright. The patty has a nice meaty but under seasoned. They are good at cooking the burger to the right temperature even a little lower than desired. The garlic sauce is good.

It was good…4 star good i wish but i have to give it a 3 cause they didn’t get all fancy on us but it still didn’t get outta 3rd gear. We came for the burger and they delivered. We had the house blend and the Hudson valley grass fed — both tastey although I Thought the Hudson Valley was a little more flavorful Funny…the rosemary french fried were as good of a fry I Think there is One thing… be warned… its not cheap The burgers are $ 11-$ 13 and then they charge extra for cheese and stuff and fries are also extra making my xheese burget with fries and soda costing $ 25 — thats kinda pricey if you ask me

The Schatzie burger was just OK; the beef was loosely packed and juicy like I like it. But for some reason it wasn’t very flavorful. The bun was pretty good, as were the fries. I gotta say, I think it’s weird when a new restaurant with table service is also cash-only. I can understand when it’s a taco truck or a really old restaurant that’s always been that way, but otherwise, get with the ‘90s and accept plastic.

I went to Richie’s Burger Joint the other night in the Upper West Side and I fell in love! The burgers are so delicious, the fries are yumy and for desert they have fried oreos! With several kind of beers, great service, very clean and friendly atmosphere. Richie’s burger joint is now one of my favorite places Uptown! And to make it more fun they also have Schatzie butcher right there under the same roof, that makes the burgers quality so fresh! a must try!

Forget about Shake Shack, BRGR, 5-Napkin, etc. — none of them hold a candle to this brand new burger joint on the UWS. Schatzie The Butcher’s son, Richard(Schatz) and now share space at this location… not only are the burgers made fresh with their«special blend» of chop meat, but their wings are delicious, as well. I’ll definitely be back to try everything on the menu… it’s a win, win winner!

VERY solid burger. The burger meat is always ground to order and the quality of Schatzie’s produce clearly has not changed in the move from 87th. The service was not great. Two parties that were seated after us had their orders taken and served before us, and it took a while for either waitress to notice that we were still waiting. That being said, they were nice and polite when we finally did get to place our order. Wait aside, we devoured our burgers when they arrived. So bomb. Would have liked crispier fries, so will order them well done next time, but that’s really a minor gripe. I’ll definitely be back.

My wife and I were taking our kids to the park and saw a new place just opened up so we walked in to check it out. Turned out to be a great move, this place is part butcher shop part restaurant. Richie was there and greeted us at the door we found out that even though this place is new his family has been butchers for over 200 years and you can tell he was passionate about good meat. We liked that they grind their own meat on site and could tell the freshness and quality by the flavor. Great place for a quick bite or to pick up tonight’s dinner. After the park we went back to pick up some steaks for dinner.

I must disagree with the very favorable reviews. We found the hamburgers quite dry and the buns nondescript. We had to ask for mustard and there was no pickle served with the hamburger. The onion rings were quite surely the worst I have ever tasted. They were doughy with no apparent leavening in the batter, so just thick, heavy and not thoroughly cooked through. There were only four onion rings in the order but we ate only two. The room seemed dominated by a large TV. One Schatzie hamburger, one cheese burger and 1 order onion rings — $ 32.00 It is interesting that several unfavorable reviews which were on the Schatzie page have disappeared
