I went to the Red Bull Space tonight for a Masala Bhangra workout party and had a GREAT time, until the end. The space manager, Ann Morales, had a serious problem with the fact that I dropped one of the free beers they were handing out at the end of the night. She yanked the beers I was carrying out of my hands and ordered one of the security guards to escort me out. Later, I returned because I had lost my ATM card and Metrocard; while I was walking around looking for my cards, Ann saw me and shouted, «WHOLETHERBACKIN??! GETHEROUT!!!» When I told her that I was back because I lost my cards, she said, «Well, THAT doesn’t surprise me.» I asked her what I meant by that and she said that I was drunk and rude and she wanted me out. I told her that I wasn’t drunk, I didn’t understand what her problem was with me, and I wasn’t leaving until I found my cards. The guard I spoke with sided with me and said that Ann had a difficult management style, and took my name and number and promised to call me if the cards turned up. He was very helpful. Ann, however, obviously has some serious issues, and I will never, ever return to this space again because of her. It’s a shame. Never have I dealt with someone so rude at an event like this.

Another very overdue review… but I guess I have more incentive to write about this amazing space now that I’ve been blessed to come here for a 2nd time, which was tonight. The Red Bull Space is another one of those really awesome places that you should definitely go to if you get the chance to go. They have private events here, like the first time I came here(which I believe was last year) for a Nooka watches sponsored event or tonight, when I came through to see Chico Mann performing live for CMJ(Woohoo!). First of all, it’s the Red Bull SPACE, and space there is. It’s huge, tons of room for everyone to fit. There was a big stage there(absent my first time coming) for the entire electric band to fit on, and jam out. Like most of these private event spaces, the drinks are usually covered by the people who are having the event, so it was open bar. By this point in the night though I was already under the influence of many drinks from the other places I went to tonight! Also, when you’re there, take note at just how clean the place is. The Red Bull people have guys constantly sweeping and mopping so the place is as spotless as humanly possible at all times. It’s actually kinda strange how nice it is. This is yet another ‘can’t miss’ spot in NYC that makes you wonder why you don’t get to go to this place EVERY night.
