Pizzevia served wood fired pizza from a custom made portable wood fired oven at the Fulton Market at South Street Seaport for a number of years. The Fulton Market, along with the New Amsterdam Market, is undergoing changes and Pizzevia may return to the market once a permanent market is established. A seasonal (May through November) food stand, Pizzevia passes muster for quick, relatively tasty pizza on the go when down exploring the Fulton Street Market among the throngs of tourists. $ 10 gets you a pizza that one person could eat and two could share. The owner built the oven, put it on wheels, and totes it around. He is extremely friendly and I love his enthusiasm. The pizzas are fairly thin crust, with a little chewy thickness at the crust, and are covered nominally with sauce and toppings. They make the pizzas to order and it takes less than 5 – 10 minutes from the time you order. Limited marketplace seating is available nearby, but this food is definitely portable.
