Best tacos, hands down. I came here on a Thursday night and it was pretty packed and it’s a small place but we got lucky and got seats in a couple of minutes. I got the shrimp taco and a carnitas taco and wow! It was absolutely great. I will say, I should have gotten both carnitas instead of the one shrimp, I couldn’t get myself to fall in love with it. I took a guy here on the first date after some drinks and boy did it leave a good impression ;) we’re still together after 5 months. Thanks for that, Otto!

I ordered a Chicken Taco and Rice and Beans. The chicken is seasoned well. Juicy but it had been stewing in it’s own juices in a heating tray. That made it ever slightly getting towards chewy/tough. The green salsa was more juice than salsa. Most of which ended up in the bowl. Onions good, cilantro more than I like but that’s person preference, and the tortilla was excellent. Despite the juices from the salsa and chicken, it held together. And it wasn’t grainy. The rice was dry and chewy. It was a strong orange color but lacked in flavor. Like eating days old rice that was left in the rice cooker. The beans tasted good. It tasted very close to the refried beans you get from the store. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Of course not, if you think of the beans served in more authentic restaurants, which I love! In conclusion, this a great place for inexpensive tacos and much better than a fast food place. All hail cheap eats.

I moved to the East Village a couple of weeks ago and I’ve already been to Otto’s Tacos four times… I’ve gotten the same thing every time I’ve visited — one each of the carne asada, carnitas, and shrimp tacos. Flavor is on point and they stuff each taco with a generous amount of filling. The salsa that comes with the carne asada is pretty hot, but the other two are relatively mild. They also throw cilantro and diced onions on top, but you can add guac for another 45 cents per taco. Three tacos is probably enough for a meal for me, but I definitely always want a fourth because they’re so good. Only off-putting thing is the price — the three tacos that I get + guac is just over 12 bucks, which seems slightly steep… but obviously that hasn’t stopped me from going there with ridiculous frequency.

I’m struggling to reconcile the gap between the 4-star rating(502 reviews) and the poor facsimile to a taco that I experienced at Otto’s. Perhaps, I visited on an off day because even the appearance didn’t match the beautiful photos on Unilocal. I tried the carnitas, shrimp, and carne asada tacos, each more disappointing than the last. While flavorful, the carnitas taco was extremely dry and underwhelming. The shrimp were… well, shrimpy in size. I couldn’t begin to tell you if they were shrimpy in flavor because you couldn’t taste the shrimp at all. Least appealing of all was the carne asada, which had a most unpleasant texture. I also tried the masa fries, which was instantly reminiscent of the soggy bottoms of microwavable taquitos. If there is a redeemable quality, it’s that I appreciate the healthy serving of cilantro and onions on top. Don’t be fooled; there are far better tacos in the city.

This was awesome! I am not a taco eater at all so I didn’t really know what to expect, however from the minute I walked into Otto’s, I knew I would not be disappointed. The gentleman who took my order and made some suggestions sounded like he actually enjoyed working there; he was genuinely enthusiastic and greeted every single person who walked in. His suggestion was: get 2 – 3 tacos, so I started with 2. Chicken and shrimp were my first two choices, followed by «I think I am still hungry and need a third one,» and at that point I chose carne asada. All three were phenomenal, with my favorite being the chicken. Everything was very quickly prepared(thank God, since I hate to wait for my food) and delicious beyond belief. I will for sure be returning here.

Prices are decent seemingly, but by the time you get 3 you up to regular chipotle prices lol. I had 1 steak, carnitas and shrimp taco. They were all good, the carnitas were the best surprisingly. I loved the corn tortilla. I wasn’t as full as I would be at chipotle tho. The best part was definitely the churros! Wow. They were awesome! Next time I’ll get 2! Lol. They made them fresh. The staff was very helpful and friendly talking me through the whole menu. Worth a visit!

Stopped by for a quick bite before class and was pleasantly surprised at the quick service. I was hoping that I could get in and out of there in under 30 minutes and I was probably in and out of there in under 15 — that’s how quickly I devoured the tacos. The shrimp in my shrimp taco were tasty, but tiny. Any smaller and they would have been nonexistent. The chicken in my chicken taco was super burnt. Before I took a bite, I thought they’d given me beef instead of chicken because uhhh seared chicken doesn’t look like that! I don’t think there was one piece of chicken that didn’t look like it had been left on the stove overnight. Definitely avoid the chicken tacos if you can. I did enjoy the soft tortillas though. Guac is an additional 45 cents, but the dollop is generous, so IMO it is worth the additional cost. Not sure if I will be back anytime soon, although their Taco Tuesday deal might be appealing to some: buy 2 tacos and get a $ 2 beer.

Not all Taco places are made the same, each one has their own unique specialty. Otto’s Tacos has, by far one of the best tortillas around. Day in and Day out Otto’s staff spend hours making their dough, pressing each individual tortilla down, and crisped on a flat top grill before being served. Their tortillas are undoubtedly a product due to a labour of love. Which is shown immediately upon first bite and just carries through, throughout the whole taco! Great PLACE !!! The staff was awesome, Friendly and happy. I needed tape for an envelope I had to mail and they went out of their way to find me tape. The food is outstanding. Fresh ingredients with that grilled Bbq flavor. I had the steak gorgon. WOW! What a great creation. A little on the heavy side but def worth it.

Without a doubt, Ottos Tacos produce the BEST tacos in the city! Their carne asada(sp?) tacos are BOSS… Hell, the chicken and shrimp are too! I always order 1(or 2) of each. As for price??? Well— these bada$$ tacos taste like $ 10 … Yet cost like ONLY $ 3.00/$ 3.25 per taco! Trust me, you will not find a better deal anywhere else in NYC.(And I would know— I’ve lived here for 14 years!) So, If you’re looking for a quick, healthy(yes they are healthy!!), affordable, consistent and DELICIOUS meal — - go to Ottos Tacos. Or order ottos on the caviar app. You’ll thank me later ! PS– the owners so hot … And I hear he’s single

Food was good. Cashier was super great. 6PM. Initially my fries were left out of my order, forgotten. I walked back to this location and they immediately admitted the mistake. The chef gave me an extra order of fries for my trouble and apologized. They made the mistake right, so they’re cool with me.

Food tastes very average. Slightly greasy for comfort food. Lightly salted in taste, especially the rice and beans. Service was fast and great. Food was hot too. Outside seating is a plus. Great location.

Dope tacos, friendly staff, and short wait time. We had the mushroom, chicken, shrimp tacos, rice and beans, and some guac & chips. The chicken tacos had a nice kick with lime and their guac is on-point. I mean, I feel like their a lot better than the guac in chipotle *gasp*, I know, but it’s pretty darn good. The guac and rice & beans came in these cute tupperware containers. It’s simple things like that, that makes a girl happy. Happiness = mini tupperware. Summary: A solid 3.5 experience. Mama will be coming back to try the Masa fries and more of their delicious guac!

My office ordered in for a Cinco de Mayo luncheon and we were very pleased. We felt the amount we ordered was perfect(suggested serving sizes are right on) and the execution was pretty flawless. They provided trays, tupperware, utensils, napkins, and cardboard baskets for our tacos. The guac was a huge hit and everyone was very pleased with the chicken taco meat. The only complaint was that the steak was a little dry and flavorless, but definitely edible and maybe enjoyable for someone who likes it on the more well done side. Food came within the promised time even on a busy day and somewhat far away from our office in Hell’s Kitchen(tried to get it in HK location, but it was at capacity!). Would definitely recommend! Prices reasonable as well.

Was in the mood for tacos so we came to the area just to try this place out. Walked pass Otto’s Tacos for years didn’t know why it took me this long to check it out. Staff were friendly and service was fast. The place was pretty busy, but people that came in during my visit mostly ordered for takeout. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos as well as chips & guacamole and masa fries to share. The food looked amazing and even though it may look like the portions were small, it can actually be filling. Tacos were flavorful and I love it, but it may have been way to salty for me. Masa fries was tasty as well. Tasted very interesting, never had anything like it before(which I love). However, it was covered in salt and again it was way waay too salty for me. After sodas and a bottle of water, I was still unable to finish everything(except for the guac… it wasn’t salty). Will skip this place for now, but it the future I may give it a second try.

Tacos were good, but I didn’t think it was the best. Great to try once in a while. My sister & I ordered to share: 1) Carnitas & Carne Asado Gorgon Tacos, 2) Carnitas & Carne Asado Tacos, 3) Masa Fries, and 4) Horchata. I must say that for two females, we over ordered. The Gorgon Tacos was one of the highlights of the meal. I liked it more than the regular tacos. It was delicious — felt like I was eating fried plantains(and they are one of my favorites). I preferred the taste of the carnitas over the carne asado. The sauce was quite spicy, so beware. And if you are not that hungry, one order of the Gorgon is more than enough as it is HUGEEE! To me, the Gorgon was like eating 4 tacos. So since I ate 2 Gorgons, I guess I consumed 8 regular tacos… oh god! The regular tacos were ok. It was not my most favorite, as it became quite soggy after awhile. The Masa Fries(if eaten right away) was delicious with the spicy orange sauce. If eaten a few minutes later, it ended up becoming a bit soggy. The Horchata was another highlight of the meal. Man was it so tasty! I would just come back to order that horchata again! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Shop is a bit small w/limited seating, but outdoor seating is available. It was a good experience nonetheless, but I think I was all corn flour-ed out! If I come back again, I would order the carnitas gorgon & a horchata.

The shrimp taco here is absolutely delicious if you’re craving a taco on the lighter and more refreshing end. The shrimps are tiny, therefore each is very well seasoned. Combined with the spicy and citrusy flavoring, cilantro, and onions, the shrimp taco created such a beautiful explosion of flavors. My only qualm was I didn’t love the slightly soggy tortilla, but luckily the rest of the meal made up for it. Definitely order at least 2 – 3 if you want a satisfying meal.

I live on the corner on Saint Marks. I’ve been here so many times, the tacos aren’t anything special to be honest. I’ve had a lot of tacos from a lot of places, these are not bad but nothing special. If you’re hungry and don’t want to spend a lot then it’s a good place to just grab 3 tacos and you’re good. I usually order Carne Asada tacos. Masa fries are good and their nachos aren’t bad, I love the green salsa sauce. They don’t have burritos like Dos Toros, you can only get tacos from here so if you’re looking for more than tacos then this might not be the spot for you. For me it’s a spot that I’ll go to on a late evening with a friend to just eat something quick if I have a busy night ahead of me. The hot sauce is very good, if you like your tacos spicy — try the hot sauce!

If there’s anything I love, it’s a good taco. Love in that if-you-can-only-eat-one-food-for-the-rest-of-your-life kind of way. So alas, I ended up here late on a Friday night post-Broadway show. I was hungry and Otto’s was empty. I ordered two carne asada tacos, guac, chips, and a Lagunitas. The menu is small which makes it great for when you don’t really want to make a lot of decisions. My friend ordered two chicken tacos and a beer. Unfortunately, they ended up serving me chicken tacos with my guac, and totally forgot her order. I was a couple bites in when I realized I was eating chicken and not carne asada. It was late, I ate it anyways. We were the only people in there so I’m sure the cooks realized their mistake when she returned to the counter for her tacos, but no one said anything. Again, I ate it but I put a lot of hot sauce on there to distract me from the chicken. It’s simply not my fave(and I paid extra for the steak). Even so, these were some awesome tortillas and I did like the salsa on top. The chips were perfect, the guac was tasty, and the beer delightful. Not to mention, it’s affordable, as the most expensive item was the beer. That’s why four stars.

Allez goûter ça aussi, trust me.
