We were here in student orchestra seats for the truly bizarre to truly enjoyable Circus Now, and loved the experience and the space, with no bad seats.

Great seating arrangement, prices and service. I was very surprised how dirty the floors were though when you walk down the stairs in the main promenade. They need to clean the place up a bit. I am an NYU grad.

I love all the sight lines in the Skirball Auditorium. There is literally no bad seat. orchestra, balcony or the parterre section. I am very short and usually for most auditoriums, sitting in the orchestra area for me means I have to find a sight line between people’s heads. I actually hate orchestra seats in regular Broadway show auditoriums and like the first few rows of the mezzanine/balcony usually. The great thing about the Skirball is how the seats are on a huge incline where the orchestra seats have very good sight lines no matter where you sit. I love this theatre, especially for a off Broadway venue. Skirball is a very classy and grand venue for being off Broadway. The other Off and Off-Off Broadway theaters in area would learn a thing or two from the Skirball Performing Arts Center and its design. It is gorgeous. Makes me feel like I am «at the theatre». The auditorium was kept at a comfortable temperature, except in the bathroom where it was much too warm but that’s ok. The theatre is spacious and not cramped. The seats are wide enough so as to not feel that you are leaning on your neighbor. This venue as I said is so gorgeous and I am already planning to come back to see other shows at the Skirball Performing Arta Center. ** I went to NYU in the early 90’s and it has absolutely changed a lot. The student center used to sit where the Skirball is now and the student center before was not a pretty place to be. I wish I was a student now just so I can hang out in the gorgeous buildings.

Having seen many shows in this venue, I do not think there is a bad seat in the house. They have a diverse menu of programs. Its presence to enhance the university and neighborhood community.

I’m extremely surprised at how well maintained the space is. I’m also glad to have taken the advice of the box office and got center balcony tickets. Even though we were high up, we had a great view and not have to look between people’s heads. The seats were comfortable and spacious enough. Came to watch the NYU production of Catch Me If You Can and the cast was Broadway quality. We definitely got our money’s worth and then some. I will be on the look out for more shows!

This was a fabulous venue to see any show possible. I know there have been many well know lectures in the Kimmel Center but I happen to see the circus or close to it here. It was for real better than the circus. Cirque Eloize Cirkopolis was the show I saw and it was fantastic. Acrobats were defying gravity on every turn. It really a treat to see, dance and Acrobatics and theater was on display. If Christopher Nolan was making some type of Circus it would look like this. Artistic Director Jeannot Painchaud did really good on this one. Would definitely come here for another event.

Massive auditorium. The seats were comfortable but not enough exits to get all the people out of the theater in an efficient manner. I sat up close so I could see all that was going on. I came here for a Tech event.

Awesome venue with great sloping on all the seats but orchestra is ideal and center spots are worth paying for. I’d say acoustics are odd as others have referenced but for active theatre or performances with acoustics as a sideline element this is a really impressive and easy access venue — thanks to NYU for bringing high quality performance to this space!

I like this venue. Been here twice for Stern NYU events and the staff is nice, the seats comfortable, and the views from anywhere solid. They have security that checks your bag and my friends got in with their water bottles. The lines can be long for the couple of restrooms they have, and unless you’re sitting next to the door and sprint for the bar, just wait till you go elsewhere for a drink because the wait is guaranteed to be long.

Very nice venue. Came here as a VIP’s guest to see Tom Papa do stand up and had a great time. The seats were comfy, the audio was clear, and the views were great. Granted this review may be somewhat skewed seeing as how I got one of the best seats in the house and didn’t pay for a ticket… but that doesn’t take away from the beauty of this space. It’s clean, the staff are organized, and there are plenty of bathrooms for the ladies. Always important!

Saw an excellent performance: WUNDERKAMMER(«Cabinet of Wonder») by Circa! Without an imposed narrative or imagined character, the group(composed of 7 dancers/acrobats) replaces structure with rhythm. They ignore the strict code of behavior and expectations of regular performance and they let us(the public) decide between ideas, concepts and emotions… Personally I chose as main theme: the ludic aspect of life… and the group used elements of burlesque, striptease, cabaret to illustrate it! I would definitely go again, but they have only four performances here in New York. About the Theater — excellent seats, lot of leg room, clean, pleasantly decorated. I would definitely come back here!

Great space — feels very open and modern. I absolutely adore theater and performances, but I’m not as big a fan of the standard hassle of dealing with the crowds in dark narrow hallways etc but this is absolutely not a problem here — it was clearly designed with crowds in mind and maximizes the space well(drinking fountains behind the stairs? good call). Seating is comfortable, acoustics were fine

When most things in New York get noted for their heritage, I think this Skirball Center rocks for being modern and state-of-the-art. Most old concert halls are in New York are the typical deal. Dark entrances to enter. Hallways by the restrooms have been painted over a least a dozen times and you can see the coarseness of the paint layers over the past. Stage floor picks up light and looks like a faded gray. Once everyone’s in, it’s starting to get stuffy. But Skirball does away with that and really outfitted the place for some great stage lighting that makes the place feel bigger. The air feels clean and well-ventilated. The bathrooms look modern and they don’t have those scary people in there trying to sell you a squirt of hairspray and a lollipop. The concert venue has nice seating areas so you can watch all night long. I would definitely get back here! Go get yourself a ticket here and then you can grab a quick slice afterwards in the neighborhood.

Beautiful venue be it for a play, musical or presentation. Theater is decorated beautifully and embraces a contemporary look and feel while not attempting to be something it isn’t,(like an old classic Victorian’esque theater, as most similar venues attempt to do.) Staff is friendly and the acoustics are great, though issues with and questions regarding ticketing can be difficult due to the nature of NYU staffing many students. Also, the seats are incredibly narrow and a bit uncomfortable, even for averaged sized folks. Seating here definitely needs to be looked at by the administrators of the theater.

Loved this entertainment center — beautiful space, great stage, excellent lighting. We came for the Kollaboration NYC show and it was a ton of fun. The layout of the space is well thought out. We sat next to last row(we totally gave new meaning to «fashionably late») and could still see everything happening on the stage very clearly.

An excellent, beautiful space! I took my date here to see my favorite British comedian, Bill Bailey, perform and we couldn’t have had a better time — having a great space to watch it in helped. We immediately ooh’ed and aah’ed when we got there. Sitting in the Orchestra section, you have a perfect view of the stage! But I doubt there’s a bad seat in the house, even if you’re up in the balcony. The plush seats are comfortable and there seems to be enough leg room. Women’s bathroom is big, clean and spacious. Conveniently right next across Washington Square Park and not too far away from the W 4th St Station.

Went to John Mulaney’s show taping last night. It was my first time at Skirball and sure won’t be my last! I sat in the second row, but it seemed like every seat in this venue would get a good view of the stage. I’d love to see more shows here in the near future, especially since I can get NYU student discounts. The attendant at the box office was also really friendly when I stopped by to purchase tickets for something else. The restroom was also clean and didn’t smell funky.

I just came here for the taped showing of _Fela_, and there were such terrible audio problems that people started leaving the show. I felt that overall, Skirball was unsympathetic that the first half of the show was either inaudible or with terrible feedback. Luckily, by the second half, the sound was fixed. I would think for a venue like this, sound would not be such a problem. I will say the venue is very clean, and there’s no bad seat in the house. I’d be willing to try it out again, though perhaps for a live performance next time. However, this memory of the show is unfortunately stuck in my brain.
