This was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. Not just in New York but worst I have had in any continent. The waiter was a joke. Maybe being that I’m only 23 he didnt think I would leave him a good tip. Little does he know… This food was worse than local chinese restaurant in the Nj. Literally no joke. The waiter promised he would«hook us into Mr. Chow». Because I have never been there. Forget him being a horrible waiter, and besides the ridiculous pricing. I would not pay $ 50 dollars for the food I got on my $ 250 bill. The chicken was dry as sand. The marinades on the chicken tasted like mainstream brand teriyaki sauce from shop rite. Do yourself a Favor and avoid this scam. It has nothing to do with the price. Take your date to any of the other amazing restaurants tribeca has to offer.

The Tribeca location had a nice atmosphere and good background music. The primary server was too aggressive. I do not frown on prices because I enjoy my self when I dine out. However the price points did not make sense — $ 18 for a glass of Chardonnay, side of Rice $ 15. We had the Drunken Fish $ 40 — it had an undesirable texture and was slimy. The Gamblers Duck $ 42 — shredded fried duck served with pancakes, strips of scallion, and a plum sauce. It looked like half a fried chicken shredded from the Chinese take out. The presentation was so poor for everything. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone or return.

The interior was very modern and nothing to do with Chinese. We ordered the crispy beef, tofu, chicken, prawn toast and a few other dishes. Overall the food was good but not great. My expectations were quite high due to all the hype of mr chow, however I did find some of the food quite bland(especially the chicken). Great ambience, good presentation and decent food.

So perfect for any special occasion. I think it’s pretty funny though how they tell you straight up that the location on 54th street has better service, which is actually true. My favorite is walnut glazed prawns. This place does it perfectly! I been to places that do this dish as a sauce but I much prefer it as a glaze and from here :) the scallops are also delicious and presented in beautiful shells. Definitely have to try this place at least twice.

Food was great but very small plates. I took my mom here and she enjoyed it more than I did. This was one of the rare times I actually ordered desert to fill me up. Great place to check out once but I do not see myself going again.

Each time I go, this place keeps getting better. Took look my folks out here for their first experience at the TriBeCa location. Everything from the glazed prawn appetizer to the Ma Mignon Of Course, was exceptional. Service was at the«very top» that anyone can expect. With that said, the only slight piece that was out of place was the fact that all the entrés didn’t show up at that same time. For me, it was all about the food and the experience, like I said exceptional!

Being from NYC you have the ability and access to taste fantastic food at nearly every block. That being said, I think Mr Chows really made a name for itself for being the hotspot and go-to place for high-end Chinese food. That being said, do I think that this outshines other Chinese restaurants in NYC? No. But, I do believe this a place that one has to experience simply because it does have some great dishes that you won’t really find anywhere else. I came here on a Friday night. The drink list is ok– would’ve liked to see more specialty cocktails on the list besides just ones with champagne. The prix fix menu is pretty good. Our server mentioned it and we decided to try it out. Overall, the food was great. Not the best I’ve ever had with the price per dish but I wouldn’t say it was subpar by any means. I can’t remember which fish item we had but definitely a great meal. Overall, the entire experience was great but a bit pricy per dish. I would probably return in the future but probably only for a special occasion.

I really don’t get the big fuss about this place, it should be called Mr. Bland… sevice is decent, this chicken satay appetizer for 7 dollars per skewer is way over rated… the peanut sauce was bland. chicken itself was good but 7 dollars a piece come on, got a side of fried rice with shrimp… AWFUL, green beans were good and the crispy suck was better than good, although presentation of this dish wasn’t pretty. pot stickers I’ve had better at Fridays… drinks would have been good if they didn’t fill the glass with ice than put 3 oz of liquid in remaining space. basicly a 250 dollar mistake for 2 people Go to tao… always amazing

Restaurant Week definitely made visiting Mr Chow a lot more appealing, but I’m considering trying their regular menu. Amazing vibe in the Tribeca location and a super attentive staff made my decision to visit even better. I would definitely recommend the squab with lettuce. Not only is it delicious, it’s fun to make your own lettuce wraps! My main course was the green prawns, which is excellent, but the Beijing chicken would also have been a delectable choice. Paired with a Riesling, my night improved greatly.

I give this place 3.5 stars. I arrived with my parents around 5:50 and we waited at the bar until 6 when we were seated promptly. The décor was fancy, and our table even had a light box glowing below the table sheet. Our server was fantastic and explained the pre-fixe menus to us, in which we ultimately decided on the two course one($ 66 per person). It was more than enough food for the three of us. Onto the food: we had the crab claw, squab with lettuce and mr chows noodles for appetizers and the Dungeness crab, green prawns, and gamblers duck as entrees. It came with a side of shrimp fried rice and a plate of green vegetables(both of which were really yummy — we liked these). Our favorite was the crab claw, which came on a platter of yummy seaweed. The squab with lettuce was good but lacked some flavor so we compensated by putting a lot of the sauce on it. The mr chow noodles had a nice bounce but really lacked flavor without the chili and meat sauce. As for the Dungeness crab, it was fresh but I’ve had better and more meat for the price that it was offered at on the menu(I believe around $ 45). The green prawns were good with the nuts but tasted mostly like regular prawns sauteed with creamed spinach. Lastly, the gamblers duck was a play on Peking duck but it was more like a pulled duck, with more meat. I felt it was a little dry but I enjoyed the thinly made wrap, which is hard to find even at an authentic Chinese restaurant. Disclaimer: my family is pretty traditional, so I’ve grown up eating traditional Cantonese food every day and eating out at authentic Chinese restaurants a lot, which is why my perspective on this restaurant may be skewed. I do applaud the restaurant for having a unique menu and one that does seem to represent what you would have at a family style Chinese restaurant.

Craving for Chinese while in New York, hubby and I decided to go here for dinner. I have to tell you, the most impressive feature for me was the beautiful blossom arrangement upon entry(but I’m easily distracted by beautiful flowers). Beyond that, I’m not sure why Mr. Chow restaurants are as popular as they are. Food isn’t necessarily bad, but there was nothing special or spectacular. I like to judge Chinese restaurants on how they prepare the lobster dishes. So we ordered the garlic lobster and I have to tell you, I’ve enjoyed way better. We also ordered several other items but again, all were blasé…Too ordinary for me to even bother listing them. But I think the worst part of our meal was the service. They were not only inattentive, they gave off the impression they didn’t care or were forced to be there. We had to request for a waiter several times just to place our order. Our drinks didn’t arrive until after we asked a few times.

I will say this. I love the Chowster! In LA, the London is fun and New Year’s Eve we went to the TriBeCa location. Why you ask? Because my 14 year old daughter heard it was a cool spot! She knew??? Ok, we really went because she always wanted to go and Dad loves it. But, we went to the early seating and it was still $ 80 per person and that’s steep, however it is the Chowman. And it was good. Apps included my favorite squab lettuce wraps, chicken satay and the crab balls.(The reason for 4 stars-the single worst item ever) and dinner included lobster and those incredible noodles. A must order!!! The green shrimp is also unique and good. The champagne cart is expensive and oh so decadent. We stayed middle ground there and were very happy campers. Service is fantastic and this space is so pretty and open. It is a place that you truly could wear a tux and no one would blink. I love that nowadays. God bless Mr. Chow! Class baby!

Mr. Chow … How??! What I want to know is, how did this Resturant get such great reviews? My friends and I went to this Resturant to celebrate her birthday. All 6 of us were excited to try this Resturant… Boy… Were we disappointed. The waiter took a while to take our order. He suggested the some items. They didn’t taste good at all We were really hungry — really hungry… And the food did not taste good at all. The appetizers not the main courses didn’t taste good. And to top it off out bicameral up to $ 500… Yes you read correctly $ 500. That’s when I became pissed off. I would not suggest anyone not even my cat to go there and dine. Because it is a huge disappointment. And it’s overrated– way overrated. My friends and I would have stood a better chance ordering in from the corner Chinese take out. It would’ve tasted better and it would’ve been easier on our pockets. Don’t go… Run… Celebrate and dine elsewhere! It’s sophisticated– bland oily food Btw, we had: — chicken satAy — pan seared dumplings — bejin chicken with walnuts — lobster steam dumpling — the veggie fried rice(was not fried, plain olé white rice) — mushroom brown rice(with one visible muShroom) — lamb — spicy filet beef — shredded tofu salad Thumbs down. I wish there was a negative star.

You don’t just pop into Mr. Chow and not expect what you’ll be getting/paying for. It’s one of the highest upscale Asian restaurants not just in the city but across the US.(Heard they’re opening one up in Caesar’s in Vegas!) What other better reason to come then to celebrate my birthday. We were seated quickly in what was a quiet night at the restaurant. Immediately you could tell how impressive and attentive the service was. They asked if we wanted drinks from the bar, and I had asked to see a drink menu, which they don’t have. He recommended I order a martini or a champagne cocktail. I thought it was weird that they have a variety of champagne cocktails, yet don’t have a menu. I stuck with a champagne mojito and it was delicious and bubbly. I was the only newbie at my table, so I let everyone order for me. We stuck with three appetizers and three entrees. I was scared that it was going to be too much food, but all of the serving portions are super small. Yet somehow we all left incredibly stuffed. Everything we got was DELICIOUS. The chicken satay, one of their most popular items, tastes like candy on a stick. We also got mr. chow noodles and lettuce wraps for appetizers which were so good as well. Our main dishes were crispy beef, Dungeness crab, and green prawns(best to worst in that order — even though nothing was worst!) We ended out the meal with warm chocolate cake, since it was my birthday. Don’t be surprised when your check comes and it’s three figures. If you’re coming here and willing to eat, you should very well know how much you are going to spend. But it’s definitely worth the treat!

The Quick: Completely overpriced, elegant, and delicious Chinese food. The infamous noodles are a treat, but could be found at most hole in the wall spots near by. Worth a visit for restaurant week. The Details: The spot is trendy and gorgeous, filled with attractive well dressed clientele. Both times I’ve went I’ve seen someone semi famous, and have witnessed the chefs putting on a show for the literal ‘hand pulled’ noodles. The atmosphere and service was very impressive, and the portions were good for restaurant week. The food was delicious(served family style) but nothing extraordinary for the price tag. The Damage: $$$$ go for restaurant week and spend $ 38 + tip/tax to experience the glamour that is Mr. Chow

I finally came to Mr. Chow’s for restaurant week on a Sunday night with a group of friends. The service and décor here is one of a kind. You definitely feel like royalty. We decided to order EVERYTHING off the menu! For the apps, the prawns with walnuts were so delicious along with the Mr. Chow noodles. I loved the Beijing Chicken which was very tasty. Oh, and I love how they let you wash your hands and towel off after eating appetizers! The dessert was sorbet and ice cream, which was the only thing that was normal. Perfect spot for a date or intimate group dinner!

Endearing staff. An embarrassment to Chinese fine dining. 2015RESTAURANTWEEKMENU — only applies to 2+ persons. SHRIMPFRIEDRICE($ 7.50) — where did the shrimp go? Awfully pale shrimp huh? SPARERIBS($ 18.50) — dry and flavor is missing. Supposed to be eaten with chili that would not come out of the oil/vinegar container. GARLICLOBSTER($ 50) — overcooked. Not much taste to it either. You get 10 pieces, that’s $ 5 each. Mostly shell and bones, limited lobster meat. WATER — Badoit sparkling water is $ 10. Bottled still water by Fiji Water(Sam’s Club in bulk). VENUE — run-down. Overhead lighting needs 2 new bulbs. Needs a new door main door due to bottom wear and tear with time and usage. FOODCONTAINER — needs to be polished. SERVICE — horrid. One would ask you for drinks without a drinks list menu. Fine dining in plastic laminated menu.
