Awesome place for Saturday night! downstairs bar has old school music and amazing décor. Bartenders are very attentive! Clean bathrooms is a big plus. I will definitely come back for a dinne

This place is pretty fun. As many have already mentioned, the Drunken Dragon’s Milk is bomb and is worth the $ 15 price tag. The ambiance is cool – kinda«dark and sexy» but it is LOUD up in there. Also, the other diners are likely to be typical TriBeCa yuppies who had a few too many at the bar. You’ve been warned. The food is pretty inventive and tasty. Service is also friendly and they are very eager to refill your cocktails. I would come here for a special occasion… like getting a raise or something because everything is expensive! Be sure to make a reservation in advance! You can make one on OpenTable on their website. Cheers.

What a gorgeous space! Loved listening to Carte Blanche there. Highly recommend the mushroom and truffle croquettes, the piri piri chicken and the shrimp fried rice.

Ate there last wk. — somewhat of a disappointment with regard to food. I know Chinese food well and expected some fused Portuguese– Chinese mix that was more convincing. Their pork chop was good but not the fish(cod). Rather noisy bar intrudes into conversation with dense table set ups. Maybe it is set up more as a singles– bar with the restaurant part thrown in as an afterthought. Would not return. There is better fare for the price in NYC.

I visited Macao for the first time last week and have to say it was one of the best meals I have had recently. The interior of the space is dimly lit and stunning. Apparently it is fashioned to look like the brothels and opium dens of 1930’s Macao. That definitely comes through, especially when you take a look at the artwork and scandalous figurines that pepper the stairwell to the downstairs speakeasy. Around 7pm on a Friday night there were plenty of seats available, but after 8pm the place really seemed to pick up. The drink list is great and we really enjoyed our cocktails. The favorite at our table was the Bashful Maiden. Both the food and drink selection seems to be Asian inspired with an exotic twist. We split a number of appetizers and sides including the charred octopus, which was the best I have ever had. It had great texture and wasn’t rubbery the way I have had it at some places. Our favorite thing by far were the mushroom and truffle croquettes. It was very difficult not to order more, they are a must! Service was attentive and we were happy that they accommodated our walk in, despite there being a lot of reservations coming in. I will definitely visit again and would love to come back to the speakeasy for a sexy date night.

Went to Macao Trading for a late dinner last night. We arrived early for our reservation and the place was packed. We managed to find a place at the bar and ordered a couple of The Dragon’s Milk. Our bartender was fabulous(and super cute!) and made us very delicious drinks. The place is very cool. Great lighting, interesting, exotic décor. Our reservation was for 9:45 and they came to the bar and got us almost exactly on time. We sat downstairs in what I thought was the best table there. A booth in the corner where you could see lots of stuff going on. Very cozy down there too. Service was fine. Not over attentive, but we never had to search for her either. We ordered the chicken and pork dumplings fried which were pretty good. They came deep fried which I found a bit odd. Usually when you order Chinese dumplings fried, they are pan fried. We also had the baby back ribs which were very tasty, but very overdone. Then we had the cod which was ok, but nothing to write home about, and the bacon and shrimp fried rice. Also ok, but not great. Overall I would say I would go back for drinks. We also had the apple cocktail(Zhen Zhao?) which were delicious as well. Place is pretty but we’ve had WAY better Chinese elsewhere.

I wanted to have a meal here as soon as I spotted a black coconut rice on their menu. I was curious about it. I ordered: Chaozhou style steamed cod: superior broth, shitake mushrooms, shanghai shoots. I asked for gluten-free and the server recommended to be made without the sauce as it’s has soy sauce in it. The cod was tender and has some spicy oil to add on the taste. Coconut black rice with edamame: the rice is savory, it’s has a pleasant crispiness to it. I really like coconut flavor but it’s quite subtle on this dish. The lighting is dim, it may be a good idea to check at their menu online before going.

Food was ok but service was terrible so I’m giving the restaurant only 1 star, but if I could, I would give no stars. Extremely disappointed in the poor service considering how expensive the meal was. There are better values in the area so I hope management decides to spend more time on fixing the service issue as the restaurant is not very competitive with the rest of the market. I would not recommend this restaurant as the food was not good enough to offset for the terrible service.

Zero stars. Extremely rude. Whoever is placing the male employee in charge of answering the phone in the evening should be aware how he’s changing customers’ mind about your establishment. I’ve been here many times. But these days, the lack of courtesy here has made me reconsider booking tables here. Tonight, as soon as I mentioned the word«New Year’s Eve,» the male employee(host? Manager?) sputtered«Call back tomorrow between 12 and 3» and hung up. This, before I finished my question. I can only see this as an attempt to insult and alienate customers. What’s the point of coming here when the whole point is to enjoy myself?

This is my new favorite place to get cocktail drinks. I literally wanted to try every drink. But alas, I only got to try Mamacita Dame Mas(which was delicious, but tasted like a virgin) and my favorite was the Drunken Dragon’s Milk(which had green tea vodka and coconut milk purée or something along those lines). I wish someone can make that for me every weekend. I cannot wait to come back to try the other drinks with fun sounding names. The food, though, is another story. I still, four hours later, have a weird aftertaste in my mouth. For appetizers, I had steamed chicken and pork dumplings. It was okay… had an interesting taste. The sauce was yummy though. And for my main, I got the Hakka Noodles… and honestly, it was gross. I kinda regretted not getting the fried rice with bacon and garlic. It looked sooo good in the photos. But, I’m completely turned off by the food options. I just want to come here for drinks.

Take a walk off the beaten path past canal in TriBeCa and an unassuming sign welcomes you to a dimly lit bar filled with beautiful people. You’ve made it to Macau trading co. Take a seat at the bar if you can– check out some seriously talented bartenders as they make you some of the best drinks you’ve ever had. Felix, the manager seems to know everyone that walks through the door and treats everyone like a long lost friend, casually asking questions about your preferences so he can suggest the dish you are sure to die for. He is a class act. The food and drinks are amazing. Leave room for dessert! The drunken dragon is probably the best cocktail I’ve put to my lips– tasty, refreshing and decadent. The décor is dark and sexy, very reminiscent of an old opium den. Check out the speakeasy down stairs while your there!

This place is OK. First off– it’s LOUD. I mean– can’t hear the person next to you speaking– kinda loud. It’s also dark and sorta night-clubby, if you get what I mean. Seems like the perfect place to take an awkward first date where you don’t want to get too bogged down in awkward small talk. Anyways, the food, overall was about average. It’s tasty enough and the portions are large so you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. My favorite was the mushroom and truffle croquettes. The dumplings were also decent, but could’ve been a little hotter. We had the pork chop and lobster noodles for our entrees and the bacon and shrimp fried rice as a side– all decent but not special. The cocktails were expensive, sweet, weak, and small. A big disappointment on that end. Service was more along the«excuse me» side– kinda uneven, but very quick to rectify things that they knew were issues. Overall, we wouldn’t go back here but if that’s your thing, by all means go for it.

Went to Macao for a date the other night and had a great time. Even before I walked through the door I was impressed. This is the place first date dreams were made of: it’s trendy but not too trendy, dimly lit and romantic, and just pricey enough to impress your date but not too pricey either of you feels bad ordering a cocktail(at least that last part is what I tell myself.) I ordered the Dragon’s Milk cocktail which is green tea vodka infused with coconut milk and some other interesting ingredients I can’t remember. It sounds odd but it was really good and clearly made with care. My only complaint is some pockets of Macao are very cold and breezy, including the table where we sat which was directly under the air conditioner. Otherwise, I’m a fan!(Pun intended.) Can’t wait to come back and try the food.

I want to come back here and try the food. I just had a drink, but the menu looks really good. I like the music and the vibe. Its look like a mix of a lot of cultural food. I will be back over here.

I came here on a Saturday night after wandering around TriBeCa with friends. The atmosphere is pretty awesome and the drinks are pretty dynamite. I definitely recommend hitting this place up especially if M1−5 ends up being too bridge and tunnel crowd for you.

Such a cool atmosphere here. I love the décor. Some nights they have a burlesque band which is pretty good. The dumplings were awesome and so was the friend rice. I will be back. Sangria was mediocre though… But it was was $ 30 for a pitcher… Don’t order it

Macao Trading Co is a great place to take a date. Just be aware — you’ll be shelling out a bit of money for it. The food in my opinion was good but a little underwhelming for the price and the drinks were good but also expensive for the price. $ 15 for the drink and on average about 100 per person on food(with appetizers, entrée and dessert). I’d come back again for maybe just drinks.

I came here with a large group for dinner on a Saturday. We were seated in the downstairs area where two other couples were seated. The upstairs had a really sexy bar area and was much more crowded. The menu here is not overwhelming but has a bit of everything on it. Got the dragons milks cocktail, was so yummy! Tropical smooth and refreshing. Being a large group we ended up ordering almost all the appetizers on the menu. Spare ribs, pork and chicken dumplings, bacon shrimp fried rice, mushroom truffle croquettes and kale salad. We got two of each to make sure everyone got to try. Everything came out piping hot and was delicious. For entrees they offer to do things family style so myself and two friends shared the lobster noodles, so good! and the pork with homemade sausage. Service was great, the wine menu was a bit difficult to read and our waitress was very helpful in navigating and making recos. Would come back here again on a date or with a group. I wish I had more pics but everything got eaten quickly!

Macao Trading Company NY Manhattan TriBeCa 7:30pm Friday 29th May 2015 Four Stars We stopped by this sexy looking place and say at the bar. The drink list was rather appealing. The Yellow Fever #2: Markers, Sassafras, Ginger, and White Peaches shaken and poured over crushed ice in a goblet. The Drunken Dragon Milk: Green Tea Vodka, Young Coconut Purée, Thai Basil, and Five Spice in a tall glass. The bartender expertly prepared these cocktails. The bourbon cocktail was okay but the Drunken Dragon Milk was amazing. The first sip was milky and sweet then the drink became more complex with a tapioca taste. The Pork Belly and Chicken Dumplings(4) for $ 11 with your choice of steamed or fried. We chose the former and they were amazing. The meat was firm. The wrapper was supple. The seasoning was spot on. The hoisin lo mein noodle were also delicious. There were a pile of vegetables: carrots, bean sprouts, snap peas, eggplant, bell peppers, and others. Everything had the right amount of sauce. The service was unparalleled. Dishes whisked away. Water glasses instantly filled. The bar staff was friendly, attentive and well dressed.

Macao Trading Co– I was skeptical of your high priced Macanese food. I remember going to Macao and eating greasy pork chop buns in the street and delicious beef jerky. All the food in Macao was wonderful and so cheap. Springy wonton noodles. Silken Ginger milk pudding. The most delicious caramelized egg tarts that I’ve ever had. Ok. So Macao Trading Co is nothing like my eating adventures in Macao. Macao Trading Co was decadent, luxurious and almost forbidden. The food was amazing. Perfectly executed. And the drinks could arguably be some of the best cocktails you can buy for $ 15. But what do you expect from the same people who brought us Employees Only? Setting: Dim lighting, a well dressed crowd(who looked like a mix from the finance and fashion districts), the upper level is filled with lacquered dressers and replica artifacts from 1930s Macanese opium dens and brothels. Food: African chicken– roasted chicken soused in a sweet curried peanut sauce. Tender and delicious. Chaozhou Steamed Hake– Maiitake mushrooms with a perfectly steamed flakey white fish. Very Cantonese. Drinks: Kaffir Jimlet– refreshing, slightly sweet, great first drink. My only complaint is that I wanted more. Drunken Dragon Milk– Coconut milk based drink with green tea vodka.
