Very good inventory. They were also very helpful and accommodating when I needed to return some items but didn’t have my receipt.(They were able to find my purchases in their system because I’d used a credit card.) One thing that could be very helpful would be for the staff to step forward a bit more in order to help. The inventory is so large that it would be great to have sales staff be readily available for questions and advice, etc. Thanks

I have never had an issue with Michael’s before in my life(and I shop there a lot). But today, I tried to return some mason jars I had recently purchased. The woman at the register told me that the system was showing that«a return has already been processed.» As you can imagine, I was really confused. I was physically holding the mason jars and giving them to her. How could I have possibly already returned them? I asked to speak to a manager, but was told a manager couldn’t do anything, but she’d give me store credit for the lowest price on the jars. She said, «This system is just really stupid, sorry.» I don’t see how that’s my problem and I’m incredibly disappointed.

Michaels is the playground for the creative mind. Can you tell that I love this establishment? I was extremely nervous about visiting this location since every place in Manhattan seems to always have masses of people. To my surprise, this store was fairly empty on a Monday afternoon. They had a great sale going on and I was able to get everything I went in for. The employees are also pleasant and friendly. I had several people help me during my visit and all of them were personable. If you do decide to go to this location(or any Michael’s for that matter) do not forget to log onto their website and use those coupons. It will save you a bundle.

I love coming here, theres always so many craft supplies to choose from. Every winter I would come here and pick from their huge selections of yarns. There is also always at least one brand that is on sale. Prices are decent too.

Fun place for the arts and crafts and a do it yourself person like me! It took me a while to sign up for their emails. They sent so many I had to cut back. You can always go on line if you have an account to look for coupons. Michaels is the first place I turn to for out of the ordinary projects. I wander the isles looking for something that will substitute as a solution to repair problem. Anything from shoe repair, weather proofing, scratched wood furniture, photo frames, etc. They have classes in jewelry, and other crafts. I’m not the type to sit still long enough for classes. I was teased in to the classes only to find that beginners classes are very few. The classes can be expensive when you consider the cost for supplies. I’m so happy we have Michael’s in Manhattan. I’ve shopped there in other states I’ve lived. They are a great store with very reasonable prices! Great for young families and families with children. Great for anyone that knits, sews, flower arranging, artists, and children’s starter crafts. Employees are very knowledgeable and friendly at this store. The store is always clean and organized. A pleasant shopping experience. I’m a fan!

I’ve never had an issue with this Michael’s. I almost always find what I’m looking for and come home satisfied! I’m an art and architecture double major, so I would consider myself a little more picky than an amateur craftsperson, and yet I’ve never been disappointed when looking for basics here. Sure, they don’t carry every specialty item on earth, but I’m definitely satisfied. They have basic woodworking tools including woodburners, lots of canvases, paints n pens, sketchbooks, posterboards, and a number of textiles. I make weekly pilgrimages here for school material, so if you have any more specific questions feel free to comment here and I can try to give you a solid answer. And a bonus: they have the cutest assortment of fake flowers that really brightens up a place :)

Michaels, I want to love you, but I just can’t. Let me elaborate. I have been here twice and both times were equally frustrating. For someone who is not artistically inclined and needs a bit of direction(just a BIT, that’s all I ask), this place is overstimulating to the max without any guidance. So what’s the easy fix to this, you may ask? Hint: I already said the word. A more sophisticated word for HELP. If you’re not catching on, I basically feel like I’m drowning here. Yes, this place is incredibly well-stocked, but that means nothing if the customers are wandering aimlessly. All I ask is for a sales associate to direct me. I don’t need you to hold my hand. Just give me a gentle push and I’ll be on my way. What’s worse, when I, admittedly, cut the horrendously long line briefly to ask a cashier if I can get some help, they all seem to look offended. They’ve almost lost a customer twice with these shenanigans. Why Michaels gets two stars instead of one: a) Like I said, they do have a TON. Whenever I’ve been able to track down – nay, stalk – a sales associate, I’ve managed(barely) to make my intended purchases. There’s no place like Michaels(Dorothy wouldn’t say that… she’s trying to leave a clusterf — , not enter one) – it does carry a lot that smaller arts and crafts stores don’t. But I really try to avoid going here. This second time, it was solely out of convenience. b) The first floor is, on the contrary, quite pleasant. More manageable, better customer service. Buying frames up there is quick and painless, so I have no complaints there. They might as well be two completely separate establishments.

I prefer this Michaels over the store in Chelsea. This is easier layed out, they have more of an assortment of artificial flowers and arrangements here. The first level is custom framing, I haven’t used this service so I can’t comment on the service. The downstairs escalator takes you to the main store. They have a wide variety of arts and craft supplies for very affordable prices. They also have a large supply of children’s crafts, toys, books, stuffed animals. They have a nice selection of home décor, vases, candles, mirrors, book ends, sculptures. Artificial flower arrangements or single flowers. There is a wide variety of party supplies, bows, ribbons, paper, cake décor supplies. Classes are offered here in arts and crafts, example is jewelry making, painting, knitting, cake decorating. I like shopping here during holidays. Halloween, Easter, Christmas, 4th of July, they have a lot of items. Make sure to sign up for their coupons, they text them on your phone, you can get 25−40% off Staff is helpful but the cashiers are hit or miss. I had some nice ones but some rude ones as well.
