A great selection of wines. The staff is always friendly, helpful. The store is a little small but that’s the charm of it.

We love the(ever-expanding) selection of affordable eco and fair trade wines, and great spirits too. The incredible owner and staff are really knowledgable, friendly, welcoming, and community-oriented. We always run into our neighbors and their dogs stopping by for a bottle and a treat or two. :) There are also semi-regular tasting parties that are pretty robust. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop by!

$ 68.99 for Highland Park 12. The Martin Bros. down the street is overpriced and they sell it for $ 54. Bevmo lists it for $ 44.99. What the hell is with this place? I live across the street so I’d be there twice a week if only they sold their liquor at reasonable prices.

Great experience at this wine shop. The owner only was friendly and informative. Really interesting wine brand/names here(like drunk love). On top of it they have wine tasting every Friday and Saturday.

I want to like this place more because the staff is cool, the place looks great and usually has some great jazz playing, and it’s so close to my apartment. And I will say it’s a fantastic resource for those who are just getting into wine or spirits, because the staff, particularly Jamel, the younger guy with a beard and glasses, reaaaaally know their stuff. They’ll go beyond recommendations and talk grape varietals, growing regions, distillation methods, the works. If you’re already pretty knowledgeable about wine and spirits, though, it’s hard to see past the price tags. For wine, if you’re wiling to walk down ten blocks, the Whole Foods wine store has a much better selection for something like 30% less. Manhattan Valley Wines does have a few wines under $ 13 that are quite good, and they’re great in a pinch because, unlike Martin Brothers, they’re open Sundays. Liquor is just outrageous. The first month they opened, I was THRILLED to see they were selling 750ml bottles of Buffalo Trace, my favorite bourbon, for something like $ 22.99, when it usually retails in this area for around $ 30. My girlfriend joked«better buy a case, before they get wise and raise the price.» That did not turn out to be a joke. A couple weeks later, the hand-written price tag for Buffalo Trace had been changed to $ 54.99(this was before the Great Bourbon Shortage sent prices for good bourbon everywhere up a bit). The rest of the selection is similarly over-priced. Buying a bottle of liquor from MVWS is equivalent to saying«I would rather spend $ 20 extra per bottle than walk a couple blocks to the next store.» This place might be perfect if you’re a gajillionaire, but I’m honestly surprised they’ve lasted a year in this decidedly non-gajillionaire neighborhood.

Welcome to the neighborhood! We really needed a knowledgable and new neighborhood wine store, and here we are. Boutique-feel with a wide selection of wines and range of prices. Free delivery anywhere in Manhattan.
