This restaurant is a gem! Fresh tasty food, generous portion, friendly staff, and it has lunch and dinner special. Timely and polite delivery. I don’t eat much meat, but felt carnivorous and I had the kofte which was delicious, perfectly cooked and juicy! Look forward to try the veggie options!

Appetizers were very strong(hummus, smoked eggplant), but the entrees were very underwhelming. One arrived cold and oddly bland, and the other was essentially freeze dried shrimp in basic tomato sauce. For the price point(22 for each entrée), super disappointing.

We order from here every week. Try the hunkar beyundi lamb. Its amazing and the green peppers are fiery hot. We also always order the adana kabob chicken because its such a large meal and complements the eggplant whipped lamb. If you want to sit, its still BYOB I think.

Small place but good food the kebabs are not dry great portions… Loved the zucchini on the side yum! The prices aren’t over the board you won’t regret the food the service not great neither worst I wish the place was a little bigger so I wouldn’t hear the kitchen staff talking or I won’t have to over hear their music.

This review is only for delivery. At best this restaurant is just mediocre. Some things are good but the portions are insanely small — Swordfish Kebabs are delicious but come with literally four small pieces of Swordfish! That with some rice and some insanely salty salad for over $ 20?!? THEBAD The grapeleaves are not good — very sweet and mushy. The ezme is just absolutely gross. DONOT order that under any circumstances. The falafael is also gross. Very tasteless and mushy. DONOT order that either! THEGOOD Cacik is very good. Bread that they serve is awesome. Zucchini cakes are actually quite good though somewhat greasy(but of course they would be!). Cigars are good.

This review is for seamless delivery from Limon. Food was okay, but overall it was salty and greasy. My chicken was a little on the dry side as well. I will not be ordering from here again, esp. With many other restaurants serving similar cuisine in the area.

I’ve been coming here for a few years now and the food is constant and delicious. Always really good. We ordered: Hummus– classic but super taste with their fluffy bread Cacik– I’m usually not a fan of this yogurt dish, but I really like this one. It’s fresh and also really good on their delicious bread(maybe its the bread thats so good…) Stuffed Grape Leaves– this one is not my favorite since its a sweet style stuffing. I dont love the cinnamon taste. Pacanga– these are like pastrami stuffed egg rolls. SO good. Hunkar Beyendi– This is my classic go to. I always order it and its always amazing. The smokey eggplant purée is so creamy and good with the chicken kebab. YUM. Manti– my first time having these meat dumplings. THey were super taste. Mixed Grill Yogurt Kebab– I dont eat lamb, but the chicken here is really good and the yogurt, croutony, tomatoy sauce is really good with it. Tiny space but ALWAYS packed.

After reading all of the Unilocal reviews we were really looking forward to trying out Limon, which we did last night, via Seamless. Overall we were unfortunately quite disappointed: Barbunya Pilaki — This was a great letdown… the Pilaki at Ali Baba is 100 X better and the quantity double, for approximately the same price. Definitely avoid ordering this. Tavuk Shish — Chicken quality varied… some pieces were excellent(according to my husband) and some were tough. Again, the quantity was small for the price, but the accompanying rice and zucchini was delicious. Tandir — My ten-year-old loved this and she loves lamb. My husband also declared this dish excellent. Too bad I don’t eat lamb as I was tempted. As we are far closer to Ali Baba and LOVE their food, it’s unlikely we’ll be ordering from Limon again. If you do, be prepared to spend $$$.

This restaurant is tiny and unassuming from the outside looking in, but after walking past it 1000 times without giving a second thought, I’m so happy to have given it a try. I went for takeout on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm or so, and the place was already bustling. I ordered the Pirzola(baby lamb chops with vegetables and rice) and asked for extra veggies instead of rice. The tender lamb was cooked rare like I asked, impeccably seasoned, and grilled with a slight charred flavor. The squash and zucchini were equally well seasoned and perfectly complemented the lamb. A grilled Shishito pepper gave the dish an unexpected twist without distracting from the other flavours. Definitely a great first impression of this place, and will go back!

This is a tiny tiny place. Very limited amount of tables, but the food is good. Oh yes, bread! So much bread! They definitely got us at BYOB. This place could be easily overlooked from the outside, so I’m glad they have solid Unilocal reviews because I wouldn’t have found it otherwise. Came here on a freezing day back in January and there were 8 of us. I am glad it was not a busy day. We were the only ones there so the service was excellent. Had the whole fish. We shared a series of appetizers and were very happy with every single one of them. They seem to get a lot of Seamless orders! Although their minimum is $ 80. Will come back next time I need a BYOB place.

Warning — I didn’t actually end up eating here but this review is more so for the lack of appropriate service and very uncomfortable experience I had when I tried to eat here with my friends. When I got to the location, it was completely empty. I asked for a table for 5 and the lady looked at me, asked if I had a reservation, and when I said no she rolled her eyes… as if she was going to have trouble seating me. She proceeded to go to the back kitchen for a couple minutes and then came back and literally pointed me to a table rather than seating me. Unimpressed from the moment I got there. Once my friends came, we noticed that the place smelled like marijuana, which definitely made us uncomfortable. Wasn’t sure if the staff was smoking in the back but either way it wasn’t pleasant. We tried to enjoy ourselves by opening up our bottle of wine and drinking and talking. We heard the waitress make fun of our conversation and laughs a couple times. She checked our IDs because she didn’t believe we were 21, which further led us to feel uncomfortable. After checking our IDs, she didn’t come to get our order for 30 minutes. We had to stand up and go get her. Finally, once we ordered she had a problem with WHAT we ordered. I ordered a chicken adana — fine. My two friends are vegetarian and the only vegetarian option in the entrees is a mushroom casserole, but both my friends hate mushrooms. So, they order a falafel plate which for some reason is listed as an appetizer. The waitress was very unhappy with their choice and said they HAD to order from the entrees if we brought a bottle of wine. Pretty sure they’re not allowed to do that. If you’re going to be a BYO, don’t make it a hassle to go there and enjoy a simple bottle of wine with dinner. In either case, from the moment we got there we felt judged, discriminated against, uncomfortable, grossed out, and unsatisfied. So, we got up and left — didn’t get a chance to eat the food but ended up at a delicious restaurant in the area anyways. My recommendation — don’t go here for a BYO. Speaking as someone who comes from Philadelphia, where BYOs exist on every block, this location SUCKS for a BYO. It actually makes me cringe trying to call this a BYO. It is not fun and they make you order their expensive $ 17 entrees, which is just ridiculous. Won’t ever be coming here again. Oh — and later I asked my friend about the food which she ordered that night and she said it wasn’t even good. She said the chicken was really dry and not tasteful. So, looks like the food wouldn’t have even been worth it. Not sure why this place has so many stars to be honest.

the food was not bad, I came in for the lunch special and I like the idea of a first course and second course meal. The fresh bread they brought was A MAZING, sucks because i dont eat bread generally so it was so difficult to resist(yes i did have a nibble which led me to help myself to the whole basket) the place is rather small so i dont think its good for large groups but since nyu is around the corner this would make a great spot for the dentists to be ;-)

Great price(~$ 13) for a lunch special that includes a starter and a main, as well as a drink. The place is quick and the food is straightforward. I got the eggplant salad and the minced chicken kebab with rice. I thought the eggplant salad was a bit bland without much texture so I’d skip that. The complimentary pita bread was great though, freshly toasted. I’d probably get the hummus to eat with the bread if I return. The minced chicken kebab was flavorful and the grilled veggies delicious. Overall, a quick and good spot to grab lunch.

Solid family run neighborhood restaurant and a must try for people in the area! It’s a great little spot where everything is cooked fresh and to top it off its BYOB! My husband and I came here for lunch and ordered the lunch special where we got to try the hummus and cacik(yogurt and cucumber dip) along with the chicken adana kebab. Both the hummus and cacik were tasty, but the best thing was the the chicken kebab. Everything on the plate was freshly cooked from the chicken to the zucchini. Loved having such hot and tasty food on a cold afternoon. The lunch special also comes with your choice of drink so all in all a great bargain. The ambiance is nothing special and I wouldn’t recommend it for a date night, but its a good place to bring friends or stop by for lunch. So if you’re in the area and looking for a wallet friendly no frills restaurant, give Limon a try!

NYC’s greatest BYOB. I was reluctant to leave a Unilocal review, because I love that this is a neighborhood place and not a tourist spot and want to keep it that way. But the women that run this restaurant do such a good job I had to leave praise. If you are looking for a BYOB joint that serves up high quality food with pleasant service, this place is for you. It is not a big location and is the true definition of a «hole in the wall». Since I value booze and great food at a reasonable price — I don’t mind the restaurant’s simplicity. I suppose it add’s to the charm. Chicken Hunkar Beyendi + cold appetizer platter is my favorite.

Is this for real? One of the biggest ripoffs going right now. My girlfriend and I ordered via Seamless, so it is hard to imagine this was a restaurant. Ordered two falafel plate appetizers, $ 7.95 each for six horrible little balls overcooked in rancid oil. Every street vendor in New York makes better falafel, for less money. The little bit of hummus that came with the little balls was good. Oh and they included some wilted salad and rotten chopped tomatoes — not kidding. The mixed cold appetizer plate at $ 13.95 was the ultimate insult in terms of the ridiculously tiny portion size. Two stuffed grape leaves, they were pretty good, but there should have been four, then they would have been better. Also good Barbunya Pilaki, but if they left out the sugar, would be better. But very sad that I could count the kidney beans — there were like ten — such a joke. This was one of those small plastic containers, not even filled half way up. You could taste the greediness of the owner. Very good, Acili Ezma, but at first, since there was so little, like five table-spoons, I thought it was some dipping sauce. Wow the greed here is amazing — I have never had such small portions served — except by my old friend’s stingy old grandmother. A total rip and insult at $ 34.95, we could have actually gotten decent food and not had to go to eat after dinner. What a joke. The worst falafel ever, make a special note of that. This seems like the nightmare twin of whatever place these other Unilocalers are eating from. Would advise the health dept run a surprise check on them, because when«Fresh» tomatoes are rotten and stinky, usually means they are not being kept properly cold. A good way to judge the professionalism of the kitchen.
