OK the new 90s cover band they have is TERRIBLE. I went this past Friday only to find out that the Bayside Tigers, who used to play here, moved to Webster Hall, and LPR hired a really sub-par band that is obviously trying to be the bayside tigers. Two stars because Le pison rouge is a cool club, but skip their 90s night and go to Saved by the 90s at webster hall.

I came here for the Friday 90s night! The cover band, Fresh kids of Bel-Air, was solid, nothing to die to see but definitely entertaining enough. For anyone who is still obsessed with those classics 90s hits, this is the place to go with your friends to sing/dance your heart out! Definitely purchase your tickets at the door as there is an extra fee when you purchase online. The bouncers are friendly. Everything from lining up to purchasing tickets to coat check went very smoothly. The biggest downside is how incredibly crowded the club is(crowded with people who weren’t exactly the friendliest). Don’t bother wearing anything nice as you’ll likely just get beer spilled all over you.

This was hard to decide what to leave for a review. I went on Friday night with a few friends for 90’s night. When we arrived the bouncers were friendly, drinks were cheap, the band sounded great and coat check was cheap $ 3 an item. What could go wrong? The place was packed. You weren’t able to move. Once we got our first drink it was impossible to get another one. There were so many young girls who seemed blackout it was gross. The whole night I was getting pushed and hit on by kids who couldn’t keep their eyes open. They definitely need to check id’s better and have a limit on the tickets sold.

When my friends told me our plans consisted of going to a dark lounge and watching a 90’s pop cover band, I was a little skeptical. I have never been so wrong in my life. First off, I’ve been to many night venues in the city, but Le Poisson Rouge had the most polite front door people. I’ve gotten so used to bouncers yelling at me to stay in line, having my bag yanked and tossed around to be searched, then being herded into a dark area like frightened sheep. But the employees were so cool – letting us wait to the side for our friend, explaining what the second stamp was for, and letting us take our time to put our jackets on by the door before stepping out into the cold. Secondly, Fresh Kids of Bel Air? Wow! Wildly entertaining and fantastic covers all night! My friends and I had such a good time, jumping and singing along to every song. I’m already planning my second visit so that I can let my inner Blink 182 fandom roam free. The only part of my experience that was negative was having to constantly push off a bunch of wildly drunk white girls screaming and shoving everyone, and whipping their hair into my face. But alas, ’tis is the experience of every night club.

I came here for a classical music concert. Not the type of thing I would do per usual. Yet, I did used to play a lot of piano in my childhood. I’m talking duets, fierce competitions, etc. So I thoroughly enjoyed this compilation of Dvorak & other great composers commemorating the Armenian genocide anniversary. It was bittersweet & quite a crowd. I came with a friend’s friend of mine visiting from the Netherlands. It was a good time. Venue was acoustically appropriate. The drinks were absolutely amazing. I’m more privy to a classical music concert due to my experience. Yet, I’m not opposed to enjoying other genres here in the future, should the occasion arise.

FOOD– 1.5STARS Performance– 5 stars I had a amazing time. I was there for my girl crush Morgan James’ performance and she was fabulous, explosive, and just plain awesome. I love her. Make sure NOT to order food. I was starving in the middle of the gig and despite all the terrible reviews, I ordered tater tots; it came out lukewarm and I got sick from it soon after I have to skip my dinner plan.

Went to this venue last night to see Elysian Fields. The show was fantastic, but I would’ve enjoyed it a million times more had it been done at Joe’s Public theater. This venue needs to step up its game big time. Nothing more frustrating than going broke, for reserved table service, when your servers are a bunch of amateurs. They are apathetic. …dressed like they’re on their way to help a buddy move out of their folks basement. This is a problem when you are trying to distinguish a server from a guest. There’s no uniform, so they just look like everybody else, roaming around, trying to find the bathroom. You have to order at least two drinks or a drink and a food item during the show, so the service should be more attentive, or you will find yourself being rushed out for the next seating, before you finish your $ 18 thimble of wine. Not a fan of them adding a 20% gratuity, either, particularly when the service is so exponentially lousy. We ordered a signature cocktail that was first served in a broken glass. When we brought it to the server’s attention, pointed out the crack, she asked us if it was leaking. I told her that my friend’s face would be leaking if she split her lip and told her to please replace the glass, which she did… with a glass that was so dirty, it was likely pulled out of the dishwasher and had fingerprints and lipstick stains all over it. Gross. The Crostini consists of a few matzoh crackers on a plate with a couple of tablespoons of dip. $ 11? You want to swat them across the face with a sock filled with baby powder when they ask you if you want anything else. Why would you? Actually yes… I’d like a manager. There seemed to be quite a few kinks with the sound system as well… Reverb, amp issues, inability to hear the piano. If you are going to demand that patrons have a cocktail or food minimum for table-service, then improve and elevate the quality of the food that you serve. If you need to keep the prices reasonable and portions small, offer a tapas menu, small bites, not soup. I would really have to love the band that is performing in order to ever see a show at this venue again. With Joe’s Public theater and Café Wha? so close, I’m left scratching my head wondering how the frack they are still open. It hurts my soul to see a venue that caters to locals… actual New Yorkers and not just tourists putting up with this crap, to walk away feeling… Ugh.

Le Poisson Rouge is that bar. The bar where you just have to say one sentence and people just want to know more. For example, I tried out Drag Queen Bingo with Linda Simpson at Le Poisson Rouge the other night. Or last night, I went to Le Poisson Rouge for Nerd Nite Nerdtacular. Oh, what’s bingo with drag queens? What? What’s Nerd Nite? See what I mean? Stuff just happens at Le Poisson Rouge. Drinks are not bad. Cocktails have some thought put into them. They have a legit ginger beer. I highly recommend avoiding the nachos. The area around the bathrooms smells strongly of tater tots and may result in strange cravings for tater tots. One last thing, where’s the red fish? And I’m not talking about that goldfish in the tilted tank in the foyer!

Do you hate fun but need to spend exorbitant amounts of money? Do you enjoy time with your friends, but only if you can’t hear them? Do you have an affinity for tall drunk douchebags who do not give a f*** if they are in any one’s way if it doesn’t serve their immediate self-interest? Do you love«live» music, but only if it consists of shitty cover songs? Do you desire long lines of entry, but only if there is a $ 20 cover? Then, my friend, I have a bar for you!!! 2 stars only because they do seem to get some actual artists once in a while. Other than that circumstance, I will never go back.

The Red Fish NY Manhattan West Village 11:30pm Saturday 1st August 2015 Three Stars No cover for the basement level. There was a weird fish tank upon entering. They have actual dance floor which is rare in NYC. The music was pretty good. Plenty people were cutting a rug. Markers were $ 14. Fireball were $ 10.

A 30% service charge on online tickets? Your drinks are expensive enough.

Follow the Goldfish! As a spoken word poet I finally had the opportunity to perform in the lower level. Le Poisson Rouge is a very nice intimate lounge where couples and groups can gather for hours in a relaxed atmosphere off the clock. Acoustic for the microphone is audible and emits sound without a problem. The lower level contains a bar and individual self-serving bathroom facilities. Atmosphere is very dark with very minimal lighting. Walls are not sound proof as there was a music concert adjacent to where our poetry reading and it was blaring loud. LPR is a nice clean music venue and bar space. Very modern setting.

I’ve only been to this particular venue twice and I figured its high time to Unilocal about the experiences. Located on Bleecker Street, Le Poisson Rouge is located downstairs and is a sizable space that either has tables and chairs set or doesn’t. The two shows I saw over a couple of year spans found both being the case. The dueling cellists known as 2Cellos was a sit down affair with paid tickets for seats so doing ones photography is best done with a zoom lens from the sidelines. The other show was a general admission event and standing room only so I got right up against the stage to rock with the rest of the fans. To speak of the venue with great lights and sound I will say that I preferred the sound more than I did the lighting for these two events. That was kind of on the dark side. As a beer drinker I stuck with that as the beverage of choice but there is a fully stocked bar with numerous liquors and for all of us who continually need to be plugged in there is a complimentary WiFi signal to snag while you are there. I always suggest turning off your phone’s carrier signal since you are underground here and might kill your battery. If you can get by with the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram I say deal with your texts once you get back upstairs. I really enjoy this venue and hope to come back here again soon. The downside for me is that they don’t really book too many of the kinds of shows that I visit. Despite that minor grievance this is a worthwhile spot for a nice evening out. The staff seems pretty friendly which is always a plus. Nice work LPR.

I come here for one thing and one thing alone — bingo on Friday/Saturday nights. Before you start judging(haters) I’m not talking about old people bingo… This is silly fun, drag queen Bingo with Linda Simpson. And you need to check it out… like right now. Come early for happy hour, which starts at 6:30. Order your drinks two at a time because this place gets quite crowded. Buy your bingo cards from Linda(only $ 2 per card) and rub your rabbits foot for good luck! Bingo starts at 7:30. Before each round, Linda explains what style of bingo you’ll play and her and their spokesmodel/Vanna White of the week will show off what that fabulous prize is. Think cheesy piggy banks in the shape of baby bottles, a box of Crunch & Munch, a bathtub non-slip mat in the shape of a giant foot, and other fun dollar store prizes.(you may be laughing or rolling your eyes now, but trust me, it’s a lot of fun.) The small stage at the front also features a drink special wheel. Throughout the night, Linda/the drag queen Vanna White of-the-week will spin the wheel and whatever drink lands will be sold at the happy hour price of $ 4. Luckily for us, vodka/sodas and lemon drop shots hit that night and our drinks kept pouring! One word of caution — do not order food from here. I was starving and unfortunately needed something in me in order to continue drinking. My prime sandwich was so tiny, and served on white bread that was toasted rather than the baguette I thought it was supposed to come on. Not worth the money for such a tiny and non-memorable sandwich. Regardless, I am thrilled that Le Poisson Rouge continues to host Linda, her crew and Le Bingo. The service downstairs is on point for there always being a large crowd. My friends and I always have a blast. I will definitely be back for more Linda, awesome prizes, good drinks and Bingo fun!

FRIDAYNIGHTIS90s NIGHT! GREAT cover band playing here. I never go out and I had soo much fun here. It was more like a concert than a bar/club and I really loved that. Unfortunately, I was having too much fun and didn’t get to check out further than 20 feet from the entrance. But the venue looked pretty big. Everyone was having fun and singing along. There is usually cover(I think around $ 20)

Absolutely buy a ticket online before you come. It’s 15 online and 20 at the door plus you get to skip the entire line. Freezed my butt off waiting to get in. There were two I. d checks before even getting in so don’t even try to come here if your underage. They were very strict over by the coat check/bathrooms to keep people from getting crazy. Coat check was $ 3. About 50% of the bathrooms were open the others were out of order. It was 90s night when I came on Friday and the band covered all 90s songs. It was a lot of fun and the music was great. If you can’t handle crowds/being extremely squished I would NOT come here. I however am not really phased by it. Got way too many drinks spilled on me though. And the floor was covered in beer bottles because no one wanted to leave their spots. The wait at the bar for a drink wasn’t that long. A bud light and a fireball shot came to around 17 bucks(Before tip). Dislikes: wasn’t a fan of the crowd. Girls were pretty nasty(as in rude). There were so many fights and non of them were broken up because they had no bouncers by the stage. Bathrooms were pretty gross. The band was very good though and when they finished the place turned into more of a club so I got my dance on. I’ll be back but probably not for a little while.

Low-Key-Pretty-Cool-Venue David Bowie tribute party at LPR !!! Yes — Great — Night — Out !!! Phantasik performances, dancing and the DJ blaring out punk and Bowie tracks that’s certainly GOOD with me . LPR is a cool basement venue with seating, dancing area a massive bar you are served immediately… a great stage and brilliant sound system. Drinks prices varies one bar man charged me 15 $ for a Margarita and the other 13 $…not sure what this about are they making up the prices? As they go along? … whatever not to worry. I had a brilliant night out and that what matters, I definitely will come back here and check out other nights. Yes I highly recommend LPR for group of friends, dates, singles, couples!

A dark venue with several event spaces with some interesting art displayed on the walls. The place definitely has some charm and from time to time I find some acts I am interested in playing here. I attended a few dance music events here in the Gallery and they didn’t really work very well since there is no designated dance floor and it’s a long but somewhat narrow space people were mostly just standing around. There is no real DJ booth either. It’s a small stage there. The other space is slightly bigger than this one. I feel like the wide staircase in the direct center of the venue takes up more of the venue than it should. The entrance area could somehow be rearranged to add more space to the event sections of this venue but it would probably require major construction. The layout overall is nice don’t get more wrong but I think it could be a bit more functional. Never had a problem getting in. Ticket booth and guestlist people are friendly. Security does have to address some rowdy people from time to time in the smoking area but that can happen anywhere. If you arrive early there are drink specials sometimes depending on who is hosting the event. It’s a comfortable space but I strongly feel it’s better suited for live acts.

Just saw«Jessie’s Girl» Back To The 80’s show here and they are amazing! What a great band. A must see if into 80’s rock, dance, pop, and new wave. The venue itself is down in a basement area on Bleeker Street. Dark and intimate, but large enough for a stage and medium sized dance floor area. Good sound overall for the performance we saw here. Can get a bit warm as it seems the AC was not turned up enough. Separate VIP /bottle service areas if that is your thing by the back of the dance floor. Large bar area along the far wall. Ok beer and drink list and the normal NYC prices as expected. Photo booth and ATM machine on the premises. Decently clean bathrooms which surprised me for a place like this. Even the staff including the bouncers were pretty cool. The crowd at this place are your basic younger bridge & tunnel meatheads and annoying chicks from the burbs though. At least that’s what we were subjected to that night. Go for the band and try to ignore the crowd.

A really good friend had a surprise bachelorette party here… we got the VIP table with two bottles. Our bouncer stayed at the front of the area and was very mindful to ensure only our party came up to our drink section. The band itself was super high-energy(it was literally them doing aerobics on stage for a bit)… the vocals could sometimes be a bit off, but hey. its 80’s music. The bathrooms were clean(the last stall is dark ladies, so stay away from that one if youre tipsy!). The female-to-male ratio was pretty skewed towards estrogen, which some of the males in attendance felt they needed to compensate for by talking unwelcomely to passing females. Also: I was the only one in an 80’s wig aside from the band… so, if you come, bring the legwarmers and neon, but only bust out the platinum perm if you’re really in it to win it.
