Great space. Loved the table settings and décor. Food was fabulous, loved the lobster bisque, the zucchini blossoms special and the beef Wellington.

We come here sometime with my mom since she likes french. I always feel the guy(manager ?) who is standing by the front door never open the heavy door for us, i know he is old, but the door is very heavy, i hope someone helps us open the door someday… Anyway, We went to the restaurant for Easter Dinner. My mom prefers to have dinner very early like 5:30pm, but the waiter called«Captain» for our table seemed to left for Lunch and No one took the order for 45 min since we arrived at the restaurant, so finally another waiter fond us alone and took the order, If they are professional, they must check reservation list what time customer is coming or organize waiters territory… or so. And waiter didm’t offer us soufflé and my mom thought it no longer served, but they just didn’t tell us because it takes mush time to make, my mom felt pretty sad, it was one of mom’s fave. so We sit on the bench style table at the center of dining room, but no one pulled the table for us after the diner either… we couldn’t leave there like locked-in. Of course My mom was pretty upset more like disappointed, however she was super expecting to have dinner at Le Perigord as her request. Thanks god, Only one good thing is the rack of Lamb + $ 10 she ordered was delicious because she already knew that. I just tell you to your credit, I gave 2 star for this time because Easter is kinda important day for my mom and they couldn’t make anything special for us ‚ I usually like this place a lot and you should to know my mom always have taken me to here for spacial occasion and she’s had great memories with her husband here since opened.

I went here for restaurant week and got the Paté du Chef appetizer, Poulet de grain roti main course, and the Floating Island dessert. In addition I had white wine and coffee. I thought the food was average for a French restaurant, I was surprised it wasn’t lighter and more tender. The taste was nothing to write home about, but the presentation was impeccable. The service was also lovely, it felt so high class. I never had an issue with the French attitude, they were kind and customer oriented. He didn’t look twice when I said that we were going to order from the restaurant week menu. They have a free coat check and a classical restaurant set up. My favorite part of the experience was the bread guy. He would walk around with his silver tray of cut up slices of bread and place a slice with his silver tongs on your bread plate. All in all, at this restaurant you are paying for the service, not the food — at least during restaurant week.

I was so happy to come back there. Their service is fantastic as usual and I’m very glad I could celebrate my friend there. I definitely come back here!!!

Nothing quite like the feeling of having a confirmed reservation for a holiday dinner only to have a restaurant refuse to honor it… In stark contrast to the spirit of the season this bastion of the old world met the arrival of my party at 7pm on a rainy Christmas Day only to be told that there was no room at the inn, no offer to put us up in any manger nor a free round of any frankincense or myrrh… just a dinosaur in an ill fitting tuxedo that essentially told us that, although we had a confirmed reservation, there was no table available. An establishment that values my patronage would have called me in advance to save me the trek from the Upper East Side and, perhaps, afford me the ability to find another dining option but alas it was not to be. Le Perigord can kiss my rather ample posterior. I remain committed to tell anyone I associate with that In the future, should I ever feel the need to dine amongst the extinct, rather than take my chances at this restaurant I shall order take out and rent the most recent copy of Jurassic Park.

My boyfriend surprised me with dinner during restaurant week and he decided to bring me here. When you first walk in you will be on the right side of the restaurant with some displays by the entrance. There you will be greeted by a few waiters who will take great care of your needs and help you check your coat in then bring you to your table. The food here was delicious! I did not know what to expect and I loved it. For appetizers we got the Zucchini soup and Vegetable Tart. I really enjoyed both items picking at my boyfriends plate for his tart and eating most of my soup although my boyfriend seemed to enjoy my soup more. He isn’t really a egg tart kind of guy I suppose. For main course I went with the Salmon entrée which was deeeliciouss. The fish just melts in my mouth yet it still had a nice firm texture and I would definitely order this again when I come back. Weird thing about me is I don’t know if my steak is good or not but I always know if my fish is good or not! My boyfriend went with beef bourgninon My dessert was the chocolate mouse. I was so full by this time, and the dollop of mousse finished off the meal nicely. My boyfriend got the floating island which had an interesting texture. The service is superb as well. Great service without any pretentiousness like someone mentioned. I was a bit intimidated at first, but they made me feel right at home. Service was fast and smooth just the way french service is. The timing of the food was also wonderful. At no point did we feel rushed, and at no point did we feel like we waited for our food too long. This place has nice old fashion ambiance to it that brings memories of my parents and it did feel a little stuffy for me, so that is where I docked 1 star. I think this place would be nicer if it had some redecorating and lightening up the feeling of the dining area. I was also a little disappointed at the wine selection. Overall our experience was lovely. It really would be a 3 ½ star for me but food and the experience made it a 4 star for this first visit.

The wife and I got engaged here 23 years ago we returned for a Valentine’s Day Dinner. The service could not have been more accommodating and gracious. Each course, from the oysters and lobster bisque to the Beef Wellington and Filet Mignon to a dazzling potpourri of desserts from the trolley, could not have been more delicioys. Georges, the patriarch of Le Perigord makes everyone feel like old friends. This is classic French cuisine at its finest and one of the last of a very special breed.

My wife and I love French food. We like the different tastes and the romantic overall ambiance associated with the French culinary experience. But to be realistic, this experience usually comes with small portions and very large prices. NOT with Le Perigord. They have excellent food, serve large portions and though one of the premier French restaurants in Manhattan, the charge very reasonable prices. Order the duck, or a filet of fish and watch it prepared in front of you by expert waiters dressed in tuxedos. I had the lobster bisque and my wife had the cold Foie gras. My dinner was Salmon which came as two large filet in a very delicious sauce and vegetables. My wife had the duck which was perfectly roasted and prepared in front of us by the waiter. They give half of a very large duck as the portion, in addition to the sides. When was the last time you left a French Restaurant full? We took a dogie bag home!!! You can be certain that Georges, the owner, will come by your table, shake your hand and make you feel at home. The staff will give you lots of attention and you will promise yourself you will be back. Just don’t request table 38, it’s ours from now on!

My mother and I came here for the first day of restaurant week hoping to have a late night meal after we both finished work. We arrived at around 9:30. The restaurant was nearly empty except for two couples, understandable for later in the evening. We ordered the pâté and the vegetable tart for our appetizers, both were good standard, the vegetable tart sauce was especially delicious and went well with the warm dish. Our entrees were the Beef Bourguignon and Veal Kidney. It may be that our palate is more refined to raw, lighter and fresh tastes rather then slow cooked and seasoned and heavy foods, but both of these dishes were disappointing. The highlight of the entrees was the sauce that the Veal Kidneys were made with and the risotto-like side that was also on the place. The real atrocity was in the dessert. We ordered the floating island and chocolate mousse. I wish I had remembered to take a photo of how badly presented our dishes were. the chocolate mousse was a small tablespoon dollop– melting quickly surrounded by an assortment of small random finely cut up fruits… The floating island was a meringue type dollop slightly bigger than the mousse but surrounded by the same cut up random fruit surrounding it. The sauce it was placed upon was quite good. Overall we were disappointed with our experience here. We felt restaurant week was about a restaurant showcasing it’s best goods to show people what kind of restaurant they are but we won’t be coming back soon. It is a beautiful restaurant with great service we wished we could say better things about the restaurant week foods we were presented.

Came here with my sister for restaurant week and mainly chose it because it was very close to her apartment, but I should have done my research on the food and the reviews here. 2.5 stars, but I’ll round to 3. The restaurant is very nice, décor and ambiance wise. It is clean and there are fresh flowers on every table, if that stuff is important to you. Ordered soup of the day, chicken, and chocolate mousse. The soup was good. The chicken was pretty dry and I didn’t finish it. And the mousse was okay. Overall, the food was okay. I don’t know how else to describe it. My sister said her food was okay too, but nothing special. I will say that the portions are huge and I left very full. Service was not that great. Towards the end, it felt like we were completely ignored and waited 15 minutes for our check. The waiter was nowhere to be found. Sometimes waiters bumped and shook our table(??) while walking around to serve our table. When our dishes were served, the server’s hands were so shaky that I was scared the dish was going to fall or something. I don’t know. Weirdest service experience I’ve had for RW. I think there are so many more and better options for RW and I definitely wouldn’t come here with its regular prices.

Le Perigord is a rare gem; absolutely accommodating yet unpretentious while maintaining the splendor of an upscale, grand restaurant. I’ll be lucky to return many times while the establishment is still with us. I did not come here for Restaurant Week. We came for a standard $ 75 prix fixe dinner, and it was superb. For appetizers, my partner and I enjoyed the escargot and zucchini flower blossoms; the blossoms, much to my surprise, won the round. Main course, we ordered the filet mignon and the turbot. Both were exquisite with the turbot gaining our clear favor. Next time, we are keen to try the beef Wellington. Dessert was incredible. The raspberry tart was to die for, and as a chocolate aficionado, I still thought it was a step above the decadent chocolate mousse. The pumpkin pie was classic and fine, but I’m looking forward to the crème brûlée and«floating island» on our following visit. Above all, the service was impeccable. Truly an old guard, classic French restaurant, the likes of which have all but disappeared from the city.

There are those evenings when food, wine, service and company combine to create an experience that makes you feel good to be alive. Our family experienced this at Le Perigord some weeks ago when we gathered to celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday. The restaurant is a family favorite. Old-guard, classic French restaurants are few and far between. We were greeted enthusiastically by the owner upon our arrival. He even made our fifteen-year-old son feel right at home. After a couple of glasses of Champagne, we were ready to peruse the menu. Escargot, gravlax, foie gras — all the classics are here and presented beautifully. No need for a wine list. My dad’s favorite white wine, La Ducette was available. Made him very happy. The rest of us, also. For entrees: filet mignon, rack of lamb, lobster in coriander broth and grilled dover sole in mustard sauce. The meats were grilled to order. The sole was prepared expertly table side. Everything was delicious. For dessert, three of us ordered the chocolate soufflé, another had the grand marnier soufflé and one had chocolate mousse. While the soufflés were being prepared, we were offered selections from the pastry cart. Very much appreciated. Coffee, espresso and cookies capped off the meal. Long ago and far away, I had my first truly significant and momentous French meal at Lutece. That restaurant, which offered classic French cuisine, operated in NYC for forty years or so before closing in 2005. I commented during the meal how much I was reminded of that evening at Lutece so long ago. I later learned that the head chef at Le Perigord had worked at Lutece. I knew something felt familiar. This was my dad’s evening. The opportunities to enjoy these classic dishes diminish with each passing year. We hope to enjoy many more meals here and were pleased to introduce a new generation to the type of cooking and service that makes our family so happy.

I came to participate during Restaurant Week and had a pleasant but underwhelming experience. I’m beginning to notice that this is the pattern during RW across the city — food is too quickly prepped, dishes are sitting too long, and service is rushed. Service here was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive — the waitstaff are still rocking the tuxes and clearly have been serving for decades. Yes they are old too, but they know what they’re doing! Food was RW standard — tasty and pretty good but nothing that blew me away. I began with the country pâté which really conjured up the classic French countryside vibe. Following that I enjoyed the loin of lamb, which is the true test. The portion was small, meat cooked well but just a little underwarm, and the vegetables were a little too soggy. Again, that’s RW for ya! The floating island was tasty and magnificent, it’s hard to not enjoy cream and sugar! Fun for the experience and nostalgia, but once is plenty.

If you’d like to try the food here, then restaurant week is a good method. Basically, you’ll find that the food is very mediocre, unrefined, and way too cream/buttery. I ordered the vegetable tart, scallops and risotto, and floating island dessert. Starting with the vegetable tart, I found my slice of tart surrounded by a pond of buttery cream sauce that had a lack of flavor. The scallops and risotto left a strange aftertaste and the risotto, again, was way too creamy/buttery. Finally, for the dessert, the floating island is basically a light meringue atop yet another way too creamy and now way too sweet sauce. The saving grace here was the service — respectful and fast.

Fancy food and fancy ambiance. I came for restaurant week with my friend and we absolutely loved the meal and were completely stuffed by the end. All the dishes were very home-y tasting but elevated just the right amount for a nice restaurant. For appetizer I had the pâté and my friend had the quiche. The quiche was delicious and had that home-y taste I mentioned — the quiche tastes like something an old French grandmother would make! The pâté was fine but nothing really special. I would order the quiche next time over the pâté. And for the entrée I ordered the veal kidney with risotto. Wow, that was good. The kidney was medium rare and was perfectly succulent. Some pieces were a little tougher than others but that wasn’t too distracting. Paired with the risotto, the veal kidney didn’t taste as salty. Be warned, if you haven’t eaten kidney before, there is really strong irony taste that some people don’t like. But it’s delicious if you are feeling adventurous. My friend ordered the scallops. And wow, I will get that next time. The scallops were tiny and the perfect bite size. They were also served with risotto and cooked perfectly. Get the scallops next time! For dessert I ordered the soufflé. It was fresh and inviting. Decorated with strawberry, pears, and whipped cream, the soufflé was gone in minutes! My friend ordered the chocolate mousse and that was delicious as well. It came with a vanilla citrus mousse as well and THAT was incredible! Lovely restaurant on the expensive side but definitely worth it. It was funny that the waiters were wearing tuxedos! However, it took a while to flag one down to grab the check. They were not as attentive as I would’ve liked. Also, when I called ahead of time to ask for directions, the person who answered the phone was rude. But that didn’t take away from the dinner experience itself.

Came here for dinner with friends for restaurant week. The food was good — I had the veg tart, the chicken with mushroom and vegetables substituted for potatoes, and for dessert tried the raspberry chocolate mousse cake and the merengue(island on the menu). I loved the mousse cake, but the merengue tasted a bit too eggy for my taste. I left dinner completely stuffed although everything was quite light. The servers were quite attentive, always refilling my water glass and asking how things were(a lost courtesy in many of the fancy restaurants nowadays). They were also flexible with our dietary needs/requests, and the atmosphere was great. Note — this is a old school dress up to eat out kind of place, so I would recommend putting a little effort into your attire before showing up if you don’t want to feel underdressed.

Le Perigord came highly recommended by a friend who is a regular. I quite liked the ambience when I walked in, a traditional French institution with waiters in white coats, and a trolley full of desserts. We ordered the lunch set and the a-la-carte. The escargot was particularly good and well-prepared, so is the vegetable tart. The veal kidneys were good too. We ordered the frog’s legs as we heard that it was the special. However, the dish was a little off and lacked the fresh bouncy texture of traditional frogs’ legs. The dessert cart was a large selection, however, the lemon meringue pie was average. Service was a little slow. They also had an interesting practice of service charge and having an additional captain fee on top of that.

Consistent and wonderful classic French cuisine. If you don’t like something, they replace it, Le Perigord wants you to be happy. I love the service, ambiance, deserts are outstanding, try the«floating island», soufflé always excellent and well prepared, tonight there were 6 choices of soufflé, cappuccino tried was very good.

Came here for Restaurant Week and the portion sizes are awesome and a great deal! I have to say that the food was not super amazing though and the flavors were a bit stodgy — not enough salt and texture like it had been overcooked/boiling for a while. It may have been the things that I ordered — the vegetable tart appetizer was a little soggy as opposed to flaky and crispy, the scallops with risotto were not flavorful. The fruit tart was delicious though and my friend’s beef bourguignon was pretty good. Service is excellent, as expected and the décor is great.

It’s been a long time since my great aunt’s lackluster birthday party from my previous review. Not only has Le Perigord been renovated to be a bit more modern while still elegant, but the staff could not have been more accommodating when I recently called to book an extremely last minute business luncheon in their private room. I know I will turn to Le Perigord again, and kudos to them for taking the leap into the modern era. PS: Their new website is beautifully done – check out the virtual tour!
