I noticed this place every time I walk to the post office, one day I decided to grab a menu. Lets just say I was excited when I saw that the Bushwick/Ridgewood area finally has a chinatown style take out! Usually my go to place for Chinese in this area is «Randys» but last night me and my gf wanted to test out this place so we ordered a few items. First of all there was only one phone number and it kept ringing!(rookie mistake, you need two numbers with call waiting on two sets of phone, if you plan on having a good flow of business, people are so quick to hang up and dial the next Chinese take out) finally when it went through we ordered the(my fav dish when in Chinatown) Salt & Pepper pork chop, Hong Kong style baked rice, fried claims and wonton soup. Total came out to a heft $ 22 for take out, that’s not the norm but its a new place so you splurge! Guy who took the order said it takes about 15 min but actually arrived in an hour. Once the food got here it looked like a someones having a small party, two medium sized bag of food! So the first thing I tried was the pork chop. Now if you’ve had Chinatown style Salt N Pepper pork chop, you know that these aren’t it! these were fatty pork chops that was over salted with no crunch to them(late delivery cause this). I couldn’t finish it because it was so salty and too much fat. Then the Hong Kong style baked rice was just really bad, my gf ate one bite and said here you eat the rest lol. I took a bite and my tongue instantly became mad at me ! the weird tangy tomato sauce with the umami combined made the odd combination(usually Hong Kong style rice is more mellow and not as pungent in flavor(maybe bad tomatoes?), oh yea there was cheese too(not good cheese either) I left that alone, sad because that was almost $ 9! yikes. Then the claim strips, horrible! bland and mushy, I hate to say it, but white castle makes them better… The only thing half way decent was the authentic style wonton soup. Oh yea I asked for white rice, they gave me yellow(duh). Oh and they threw in some over fried wontons for free because we went over $ 20, I didnt care for them so I asked for soda, they said no wontons only, which didnt make sense because its less labor and cheaper to give away sodas, am I wrong? Come on rookies! In the end, we ended up eating the wonton soup and few bites of the yellow rice and threw the rest in the garbage(I know its a waste and I hate wasting food but I knew if I kept it in the fridge, it would eventually be thrown out) I don’t think I’ll be ordering from here again… at least not soon!

Now I think I’m a pretty fair lady when it comes to food. I give people chances, second chances, and I don’t crap on them if they mess up the first time around. This place is like a block away from me so when it first opened up I decided to check it out. I ordered shrimp fried rice with broccoli. My boyfriend had the General Tso’s chicken. The food was pretty decent but I did order a side order of white rice and they forgot it so someone had to bring it 20 min after the fact, which is fine. We all make mistakes. Let’s take back it now 2 weeks ago. I pretty much ordered the same thing, except I wanted to try the Mofongo since a fellow Unilocaler recommended it. I’ll never turn down a good Monfongo! Anyways the food arrives and it is just ew. The broccoli had barely any sauce on it, the rice had a weird nasty flavor to it. I ordered fried baby shrimp and about 6 came with the order and weren’t crispy at all. They forgot my Monfongo and sent me tostones and some pork fried rice that we didn’t order. I called to let them know the mistake and they said they think they put it in another customer’s bag by mistake. Hmm, fool me once Kung Fu Panda! I was so disgusted by the food that I just threw it out and ordered from somewhere else. The only redeeming thing from this place, that I got later because it was forgotten, was the Mofongo. Delicious! Garlicky and fresh! Overall I will never be ordering from them again. Sorry Kung Fu Panda!

They deliver to my house… thank goodness! I ordered dinner with an older menu and did well. I ordered their LoMein, fried rice, beef and broccoli with garlic sauce which is now my absolute favorite; fresh broccoli and you can taste the garlic sauce yummy. They forgot my rice but they recovered nicely by delivering the forgotten item with their apologies. I am very please with my order. This is my new Chinese food spot. (They updated their menu so make sure you have the correct one) Thank you Eddie(the delivery guy) for sending my order promptly. I look forward to ordering again.

Great service, lousy food. Oil should not be the main ingredient of the meals. Kung Fu Panda… back to the temple for more training.
