I believe this place has closed down? About a month ago i tried going because i have a coupon and it was closed when it should have been open. I then called another day because both the website and hours on door said they were open but someone answered and said they were not open that day. I drive by everyday on my way home from work and it has not been open… I also tried calling the number again today and it is disconnected. UPDATE: owner says it is closed for renovations, will have to wait to try their food.

This place puts an ad for 5 dinners for $ 25 which is perfect. They then tell me that one of the items I ordered can’t be included. It says it right there in the ad! Ok fine, I’ll get something else. Don’t know why they couldn’t just give it to me. Whatever. Minutes later they call again and tell me another item isn’t included. Again I tell them the ad says it does. Another typo and they won’t do anything for me. I then cancelled my whole order. This place just lost a customer. I couldn’t believe they just couldn’t do this for me since their ad says so. I expect total failure for this place in the near future. It’s a shame when people open a business and have no clue on how to run it and keep customers happy. Don’t even bother with this place and waste your time!

I really want to give them three stars, but after this experience I’m thoroughly disappointed. I ordered at 4:08 from Grubhub a couple of dishes-chicken roti for my roommate, jerk chicken for my boyfriend, and I’ve been craving oxtail for the longest. About forty minutes later, they called me to let me know they have yet to make a batch of oxtail and it will take an hour to make. Would I like something else instead? Uh, sure? Why not go for some curried chicken, keep the chicken theme going. Okay, sounds good. See you soon. Another hour goes by, making the wait time now two hours for three small dishes and still no-show. Mind you, this place is a ten minute drive from my house. I call, get a different person who says«Oh, we had to make the oxtail! We just sent it out the door.» What? Didn’t we agree to change it to curried chicken so I WOULDN’T wait? Well, fine. It’s already made and I’m starving. Bring it. Another 30 minutes pass and the food finally arrives with roti chicken, jerk chicken and… curried chicken. What the ever loving hell is going on here. At this point, I am pissed and call again. I explain to the very nice person what happened, who apologizes profusely and offers something off my next order. Basically, the food was decent. The service was alright-I appreciated they tried to communicate with me and that they apologized. I’m not okay with paying almost thirty dollars and waiting two and a half hours with my order being switched twice.

I am SO happy I have discovered this Caribbean restaurant not too far from my apartment. My fam is from Trinidad and Barbados, so I frequently have a serious craving for some indigenous food(and I’m not talking about Golden Crust). I ordered the steamed fish and it was absolutely delicious! It was made fresh to order and was bursting with flavor. So, so, so GOOD! I thought everything was perfect. It reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking! Ya’ll can’t see me… but I’m doing the happy dance!!! Aside from the scrumptious food, the employees are outstanding! I came in on a Saturday afternoon around 5:30 pm and suddenly felt ill(wasn’t from the restaurant– promise!) The staff went above and behind to make sure that I was catered to before going on my way. I was in pretty bad shape and I can honestly say because of the staff’s gratitude, I was able to make it home! I thoroughly appreciate that type of customer service!

Fell in love with this place after getting a huge meal of jerk chicken, rice and beans and vegetables for $ 9. Shared with my roommate and had plenty of leftovers. I’m obsessed with this jerk chicken. Just the right amount of spicy. Def a gem of Ridgewood’s. You can get the $ 5 meal too with your choice of chicken and rice and beans. Awesome deal.

So after the previous mishap we decided to give them another try, we called the owner after he so kindly gave us his personal cellphone number in response to our previous review. He personally took our order and drove straight to the restaurant and put our order in himself and reassured us that our order will arrive by 1pm. They came at 12:58 and were so kind and courteous to us and btw the food was GREAT! Good portions and good prices. We were all very pleased and satisfied and will definitely order again, thanks again Adrian!

Not impressed. I was very excited to try this place. I love Caribbean food and don’t have it often since moving to Ridgewood. I decided to stop in for a quick lunch special with the boo. The place is small but has some seating if you want to sit down and people watch. The girl working behind the counter was pretty friendly but didn’t seem too knowledgeable about the food but she could have been new. We ordered some steamed fish(made sure to correct this since the owner pointed out they have no BAKED fish but to mean they r one in the same) with rice and beans for me and he got some jerk chicken with the same rice. I wanted to see the shrimp salad but the owner was busy outside on the phone and the girl wasn’t sure if they had any. All together the food was about 17 bucks. A little high for lunch specials but it’s ok… as long as the food is good! I dug in when I got home and was so disappointed! The rice was so mushy and bland and the steamed fish lacked any depth of flavor. It was mixed with peppers and onions but I couldn’t get the taste of either. I love spice, I love Caribbean flavors. I want to get slapped upside my head with them! Unfortunately these dishes did not deliver. My fiancé said his chicken was dry and the piece he was given was pretty small. His sentiments also echoed mine on the rice. We ended up throwing it out and ordering a pizza. So upset I didn’t like the food. I might give them another chance because I feel this place has potential. Maybe they were having an off day? *Update* 8÷9÷14 So it seems the owner has updated his comment insiuating that I’ve never come to his restaurant according to his staff because they don’t remember the transaction. SOJUSTTOCLARIFY I have been to your establisment and don’t appreciate you making me seem like I’m lying that I’ve been there. And I’ve also corrected what I’ve eaten there… it was steamed fish, not baked. And I paid with cash so I don’t see how you would have a record of me there unless the woman working there has a photgraphic memory. Hopes that helps in my credibility.

I was so thoroughly disappointed with Kings Kitchen. First, the hours do not extend late enough into the evening for people who want take out after work. It took forever to open and now it seems they are still on a soft opening phase. I ordered a full order of ox tail with no rice and vegetables. The cashier said she would have to charge me full price. Fine, I get it. I’m asking for a larger portion of meat. I wish I could post the pic I the pathetic serving I received. I literally opened my container to find two oxtail, small tidbits, and a lot of sauce. Aside from the unrealistic hours for working folk, the food didn’t taste much different than the Spanish oxtail around on Myrtle. I wanted real West Indian food and this is just more of the same. Meh.

Don’t bother and waste your time. Was anticipating a great west Indian spot since I’m probably one of few Trinidadians in the whole area. Place stopped serving breakfast which was really the only reason I would go. Tried their dinner on two occasion and threw it out after just a couple of bites. Food lacked salt and true essential Caribbean spices. Went in this morning and figured I’d give it just one more try. Ordered jerk chicken and literally got a plate of rice and peas and(2) little small piece of chicken and paid 7 bucks. Never again!!! Chicken was too soft be be jerk and def not worth 7 bucks. I’ll troop it to Crown Heights for better food and portions.

Not many folks have the privilege of having an awesome Caribbean eatery in their hood, even in the diverse city of New York. When I moved to Ridgewood, I thought that my days of enjoying roti and stewed chicken for dinner would be over for a while. Now, thanks to King’s Kitchen, those days of longing for some tasty island cuisine are gone! Tucked away on the corner of Seneca and Centre Street, I noticed the new yellow awning for this place one day as I walked by. Today, Russell and I finally had the opportunity to try King’s Kitchen. The establishment has a counter with a couple of stools and they are currently only accepting cash(however they do have an ATM). Prices are definitely decent. We ordered the chicken roti with an extra skin($ 4 per extra skin. THEYAREHUGE. One definitely would have been enough for us to share). Also got an order of jerk chicken and two cans of soda(I was kind of disappointed that they didn’t have Ting, but I’ll give them a pass for now). Everything was delicious. All of the chicken was moist and tender. The jerk chicken had the perfect amount of spice. The chicken roti was also great. Rotis were perfect combination of soft and crumbly. I love how the crumbles absorb the sauces from the chicken. SOGOOD. One large order of the chicken roti is a good meal for two people. We were also lucky enough to meet the owner while we were waiting for our order, and he seemed like a nice, humble guy that really cares about the community. Even said that the restaurant wasn’t for him, but for our community. That’s what makes this a 5-star establishment! The also serve porridge for breakfast, fried chicken, and fish dishes. The fish with peppers looked amazing and I can’t wait to go back and try it. You can’t go wrong with the chicken roti and jerk chicken though. Ridgewood, King’s Kitchen is bringing the delicious taste of the islands all the way to Queens. You must try this place, it will have you feeling like Caribbean royalty.

Ridgewood has need a Caribbean spot for the longest! As a Crown Heights transplant I was missing my Jerk Chicken and morning Porridge! Kings Kitchen hits the spot! The food is fresh and always arrives hot! The delivery guys are restaurant staff are super friendly! If you haven’t given them a call! You wont be sorry! My mom is a super seafood lover and absolutely raves about the fish on the menu!

Small local Jamaican kitchen. Seating is limited. Food is fresh, tasty and generous portions. Friendly staff. Good for a quick fix or take-out, not for date night. That being said, give it a try.
