Nice little sushi place within walking distance of my apartment. I agree with some of the other reviews that the sushi wasn’t very much above average. I liked that, while it was busy for a Wednesday night, my date and I had a comfortable seat and we could actually hear each other, which is pretty rare in Manhattan. The gyoza appetizers were excellent and my rolls were fresh and tasty. Service was excellent, as was the décor and atmosphere. Prices were considerably better than other places in the area. All in all, a spot I’d definitely visit again.

This place has ok sushi but nothing special. There’s a good amount of seating so you won’t have a problem getting a table. We shared a bunch of rolls and we were not impressed. The rice was a little stale and some of the pieces had a funky after taste. Like a slight counter cleaner taste? But they were stuffed with a lot of fish! It’s one of those places that has a subtle cheap floor mop smell when you walk in… kind of an instant turn-off. Oh and we also started with some pork gyoza. Those were actually very good. Fried perfectly!

My go-to sushi spot on the UES. Been coming here since they opened many years ago and have never been disappointed. Staff is helpful, there is a nice variety of rolls, always fresh and flavorful, beautiful presentation on the plate.

Went here 3 times for date night because me and my significant other love sushi. The staff was very friendly, I never felt rushed or felt like I was low on water. They gave us a free hot towel at the beginning of the meal, which was nice especially with the cold outside. I ordered their bento boxes which were well portioned and they have a variety of options. I got the Eel Teriyaki, as that is something I don’t normally see offered and it was delicious, though I do like eel rolls. Their sushis is pretty well prepared, though a bit on the pricier side, but that’s to be expected with the location and atmosphere. Finally, they offered a free ice cream to the both of us every time we were there, which is just that little something that pushes this from a 4-star place, to a 5-star place in my book.

Standard Japanese menu with pretty good lunch specials(unagi don with salad and soup for $ 10.50). Nicer-than-average ambiance. I’d come back if I was in the area and craving sushi.

Great sushi, great appetizers and wonderful service. My water glass gets filled before it’s even halfway empty. I wanted a sushi roll with mango and they let me build my own. Also, they give you free ice cream after dinner. My husband and I love coming here for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend this little gem.

Have only been here for lunch. Food is very good quality, large portions service is fine. Very attractive, affordable prices for the lunch specials. If ever I’m in the area, from noon until two, I make a point of stopping in for lunch.

This is my second time at Ko. 1st time was for dinner, today was for lunch. Both times were excellent. The service is great, the food is great and both times they gave us ice cream on the house.

Well this place was bustling for a Tuesday night. First we were seated quickly in a crowded section of the restaurant, then we ordered our drinks. The glass of Prosecco I was given had to be one of the flattest drinks I’ve ever had, there were no bubbles. Then for the food, the miso soup served to us was so hot, we couldn’t eat it the entire meal. The Manhattan roll was good, but the spicy tuna was not nearly as fresh as at some other sushi places close to Ko. The California roll was also good but a little bit hard. If any of the food here was particularly good, it was the chicken teriyaki. It made up for the lacking in the rolls. There are just so many better sushi places around this one, I wouldn’t come back here any time soon.

A few friends were in town and we were craving sushi within walking distance of my apartment, so Ko Sushi it was. I like sushi restaurants that not only have fresh fish, but also have an ambiance. Way too often do you see sushi restaurants in the city that are complete hole in the walls. On the other hand, many of the ones that do offer a pleasant space to dine in are too expensive. Ko Sushi has a great atmosphere with caramel wood and bamboo accents, although the construction taking place directly outside isn’t the greatest. The sushi itself, like many others have said, is standard, nothing special. I ordered the classic spicy tuna and crunchy spicy salmon roll, and was satisfied but not overly so. My friend who is not a sushi lover got a teriyaki dish which was also nothing to rave about. I did enjoy the warm towels in the beginning, however, and the waitress gave us free vanilla and red bean ice cream. Red bean is most definitely an acquired taste, but what a nice touch! :) This place will always stand out to me in terms of the environment and service, but not so much the sushi. 3.5 stars

Good food and great atmosphere. The lobster was creepy kept on moving as we ate it’s body. The brains were all still left in the cup dripping down. The meal would of been more enjoyable if we didn’t see that.

Sushi pieces are tiny(see photos with ruler), we are talking about not even an inch long by not even ½″ wide. Quality is average. Maybe if I didn’t order take out, they wouldn’t like me sending it back to the sushi bar for normal size pieces. Might try Poke on E85th next time even though not too crazy that they are CASHONLY.

Quick stop for lunch or last minute date night option. We’ve been here even on New Years Eve for a quick bite. One of the most consistent sushi places around the area. Upon sitting down, we got hot fresh towel. Orders are taken quickly but if you’re indecisive, not to worry, they won’t rush you. I’ve tried almost all of the special rolls and have not been disappointed. The rolls with tempura shrimp are my favorite! Orders come out pretty quickly and are fresh. Shumai and dumplings come out with the«just made» quality. I get the hot green tea ever time, just rounds out the whole meal – free refills, btw. When they are pretty full on seating, they ask if you’d sit at the sushi bar. Usually, you’re rewarded with an appetizer or simple roll on the house if you chose this less-than-ideal seating. Your choice of vanilla, green tea, or red bean Ice cream is always on the house for dessert.

This place was good… Pretty average. I had the lobster salad. Good but nothing special. My main complaint .it was very hot inside this restaurant. I wouldn’t go back again. But it was not horrible.

Decent Japanese food place, the sashimi was fresh and service was quick. I wish they would have put more salmon roe in my hand roll though… I like the amount of seating they have and the corner location was great for people watching. Nothing that wowed me or bummed me out. Our waitress was really nice, spoke Chinese and gave good suggestions. Would come back here for cheap convenient sushi!

The menu here is extensive. Prices are also very reasonable. I had the sushi sashimi platter and all was fresh and good. The service here was great. They are very attentive, even when busy. The manager even came out and offered us complimentary ice cream. This doesn’t get 5 stars because I didn’t see much that made this place so unique from other sushi places. However, I wouldn’t mind coming back.

Came here for dinner with some friends. Décor was very nice and a good place for a causal dinner. Staff was very welcoming. Handed us towels to clean our hands and gave us very prompt service. Throughout the night, our cups of water/green tea were like endless pitchers as the staff came in and constantly filled them. Service was superb. Ended up getting the sashimi combo A. Presentation was nice and you get a lot of sashimi for the price, but unfortunately the fish was only OK. The fish was not the freshest. Texture of the fish was mildly chewy and didn’t have the nice mildly firm/clean separation in bites I was hoping for. The temperature the fish was served was too cold and tasted like it was left in the refrigerator far too long. The tuna had some crunchiness in it suggesting it wasn’t defrosted long enough. The flavors of the fish were masked by the temperature and the lack of freshness. On the upside, there was no fishy-taste though, and they did give us complementary ice cream which tasted great. Summary: I think it really depends on what you’re looking for in a restaurant. If you’re looking for quantity, excellent service and a nice atmosphere this would be a great place. When I eat sashimi, it’s usually for the taste/texture/freshness and not so much to get full, so I can only give this place three stars.

Perhaps I’m being harsh but I’m really growing tired of painfully mediocre sushi restaurants, or maybe I’m just frustrated for having wasted my money. My partner and I strolled in on a Saturday night, hopeful because the place was packed. After we sat a small line formed outside, the expectation heightens… We ordered the soft shell crab appetizer off the specials menu and it was fairly tasty. Presentation was poor and it was a tad greasy but overall, very flavorful and worth ordering. For an entrée we split the sushi for two and about two-thirds of the plate wasn’t fresh. The spicy tuna we requested alongside it was unfortunately, inedible. The service was okay, and the free ice cream at the end of the meal was a nice touch but there’s far too many places serving quality fish in the area for me to return to Ko.

Fast friendly staff. Nice location. Not much of a view b/c of 2 avenue construction. The rock shrimp was about 8 pieces only! Much smaller than what it used to be. The sushi rolls are SMALLER than usual. These sushi rolls should be called recession rolls. Very stingy on fish. As a sushi snob, I’m over this place and will not be coming back. There are several other sushi restaurants in the area worth a go.
