This is a great little place. The people are amazing — super friendly, very pleasant and serious about their product. The cortado was outstanding and the barista made absolutely certain that it was perfect — it was perfect. They truly cared about my experience and wanted to be sure I was completely happy. This is a fantastic place. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.

Awesome customer service! Small, well kept and air conditioned place. Get their iced green tea for only $ 3! The cup is eco friendly too. They accept all credit cards(except amex which is fine since amex takes 90 cents for every transaction away from business owners) :D Tucked away tea spot!

I am a fan tea and Kanlo has a huge HUGE selection of tea. My few gripes are the slow service and the price that is a bit higher than I am willing to spend on a regular basis for tea. However, I do see the quality so I recommend!

I discovered Kanlo teas recently when I attended the Coffee & Tea festival. At the time, I purchased the Genmaicha tea and never before have I tasted such high quality, perfect green tea. Genmaicha is nicknamed – popcorn tea due to the roasted rice that expands when steeped. Once steeped for a couple minutes, you indulge in a fragrant yet subtle tasting green tea that tastes good all on its own without any sweetener. And you can also consume it with something savory. That said, I was low on quantity and decided to check out the Kanlo tea shop which I did today. It was a bit difficult to find, but I was so glad I did. The owner was quite friendly and brewed a cup of their Amaretto tea on the house! How nice was that? It was delicious by the way. I took a mental note of all the delicious tea varieties from Victorian Rose and Crème Brulee to Coconut and Chocolate. Of course, I bought my favorite – Genmaicha tea. As a recommendation from the owner, I also bought the Sour Sop Green tea and it is fantastic! I’m drinking it now. This is good, high quality tea. If you are tea lover like me, check it out!

What a great find on an otherwise quiet Tribeca street! When I walked in «just to check it out,» I couldn’t believe I’d been missing out on this open and airy tea shop with such a great selection. The girl behind the register suggested a great green tea and was so friendly she made me want to return. They have a lot of table space in the back and(I believe) WiFi as well.

I don’t usually go to tea houses, but I have been to Kanlo twice and have had a wonderful experience both times. The décor is perhaps a bit strange ~(the previous reviewer goes into greater detail) but the Owner and his staff are so accommodating and gracious that the odd orange background disappears after the first few sips. This place is low key and unpretentious which, for Tribeca, is rare. The first time I visited Kanlo I was really just trying to get out of the cold while waiting for an appointment. I learned so much about tea, and was so taken with the staff’s enthusiasm that I will go out of my way to visit when I can.

An interesting spot. These days coffee seems to be getting all the news but I like a good tea better. I’m not sure what the story is about this place but it seems a bit of a mish mash job. Somebody had money to invest into a shop and skipped the professional designer. The actual shop is dressed up like an over exposed wine bar. The furniture and counter tops looked like something you’d see in a remake of Logan’s Run or A Clockwork Orange. The only thing missing was a picture of the queen, something with David Beckham and old gay pygmy erotica. The strange surroundings aside they have some really great tea. The number of flavors available are sure to be enough to satisfy the most demanding tea enthusiast. I don’t like messing around with bulk tea so I got a can of bags, $ 16 bucks. It seems like a lot of money for 20 tea bags but with a lump of sugar, a nice cup of tea is a treat. I have had the peach and mango teas and both were outstanding. A nice little spot to get yourself some great teas.
