Based on recommendations of front desk and concierge, we ordered Johns Pizza of Times Square for delivery. The good: quoted estimated time of 45 minutes, but delivered in 30 minutes. The bad: Average thin crust greasy pizza with burned edge. Not a fan. Would never buy again.

Food was fantastic. Would have been 5 stars, but the restrooms were in pretty bad shape.

I was in the neighborhood this past weekend & we decided to get something to eat. Came in no problem being seated, once seated we got a Pitcher of the IPA beer & some chocolate milk for the kids. Beer was great enough for 3 to share, the chocolate milk was good as well nice & cold. Appetizers we started with the Mozzarella wedges, this was pretty good nice tasting cheese fried yes but it wasn’t greasy good dipping sauce. Main dishes we got a Margarita pizza w grilled chicken & an order of the Penne a la vodka with grilled chicken as well. Pizza was good, nice tasting with lots of basil good overall. Penne a la vodka was pretty good as well good sauce & chicken not to crazy about the peas but the were ok. as for the place itself nice size, plenty with seating. simple décor good service & decent prices.

I have to say that I was rather skeptical of this pizzeria considering that a lot of places have made a big name for themselves, Roberta’s, Patsy’s, Motorino and Paulie Gee’s to name a few top places. But John’s definitely represented themselves well and worth every bite. In fact we not only went for lunch but after walking off the pie, we went back for a late night to go pie back to our hotel. Conveniently located across the alley way from the Marriott passed Junior’s restaurant. Prices are reasonable, we sat at the bar since it was only two and chatted up with the bartender each time. If, I’m ever in the city again, it’ll be my go to spot. Big Fan!

I LOVE this place. I have been coming there since it opened. My favorite is the PETE’s-A-Roll which is a simple and delightful fennel sausage in a dough. I won’t call it a calzone because it’s small and crispy! Served sliced into lovely, bite size morsels. Sauce for dipping. OHYES… the pizza’s and salads are ALWAYS good too! LOVEIT!

John has no reservations and it is really crowded while you wait. The seating is quick. The restaurant is drab and old looking dirty. The lighting is poor. John’s needs a facelift. We felt we wee in a prison. There are stairs going up to the mezzanine that are very steep and overwhelming to climb with so much of a crowd. The ravioli we ordered wad just ok. There was not enough sauce. It was tasteless. The salad was very good. The waiter was excellent being able to keep up with all the people. Did not have Pizza, but it looked good.

Came here with my family for dinner on a rainy day. When I asked couple of tissues for my mom, the waiter was like«these are not tissues they are napkins!» Who cares! For a joint in TimesSquare, waiters were pretty rude. Pizza was good and place was packed and that might be the reason for head weight. Will I return here? Probably on a terribly hungry day. Will the waiters behave? Probably never. Will the business go down because of the stupid waiters? God I hope not! It is sad when a place with good food have horrible people working for them.

Came here with a bunch of friends. Being right on Times Square and on a Saturday during the day, I expected the place to be packed. Thankfully we were seated right away. For being in Times Square, the place is quite huge and is also quite beautiful(read on the menu it was converted from a church). The service was pretty prompt. We got a sausage and red pepper pizza with some garlic knots. The garlic knots were good, a typical appetizer you would get at a pizza joint. The pizza was pretty great. Wasn’t the best in the world, but it was a pretty good thin crust. The flavors were all there and the dough was cooked perfectly. I haven’t tried other NYC pizza to compare, so it’s hard to say if this is the best in the area, but for being in a populated block, it was nice for the convenience.

Our first stop for dinner in NYC! The salads are huge and made to share… I highly recommend the spinach salad! The pizza is wonderful! A small was plenty for a party of three! Also have to mention the building… it is a beautiful old church. The back of the menu says John’s Pizza is the largest pizzeria in the world…

Normally I avoid Time Square like the plagued but I was with my daughters soccer team who’d never been to the City so went to John’s in Time Square and don’t for a NY minute regret we did, even though the service was sub par. Friday night, 8:30pm and 12 of us walk in and the seat us right away. Now we did have to split the kids off but that worked out perfect. We ordered the antipasto, the garlic nots, two pizza and a lovely pinot noir. I had forgotten what pizza was suppose to be after living in LA for 16 years. The crust ever the right amount of thin, crispy dough and topped with sauce, cheese and pepperoni that swims across your tongue. Bite of pizza, sip of pinot and I was in NY pizza heaven. I’ve been home about two weeks and already plotting my next trip so I can go back to John’s.

John’s is a neat location. An old church that has been converted to a pizza hall. There are stain glass windows in the walls and ceiling. The walls are covered in ink drawings. Large open dining area lets you look around while waiting. The pizza oven is right off the main dining area and you can watch the pizza’s bake. We added meatball and spinach to the margherita pizza. It was very good and the first slice had a crispy crust. By the second moisture had started to soften the crust and that detracted from the quality of the pizza. Server was good and I tipped him extra. I would go to some other pizza places before I said this is the best.

Was visiting NYC for the Memorial Day weekend. Someone recommended John’s and I’m so glad we went. The pizza rolls are amazing! It was very warm in the restaurant which was a little uncomfortable as we were going to a play after and didn’t want to get all sweaty.

DESPERATELY needs AC. If it’s hot outside, do not go in L. It’s absolutely miserable. Now, the service was absolutely incredible and the food was even better. I’ll definitely be back as long as they get some AC. I came to get out of the heat, not to be baked along with my pizza.

Checked in at 4:30 seated at 5: 20. I got roped in to this place, not my choice. This place is bull$hit. We were fed a line that they have tables for larger groups and since our five person group was not large enough or small enough, we had to wait in purgatory. Waited at the bar, pour is weak. With constant followups, still y 50 minutes to be seated. F to the U. The tables are square with leaves, so the explanation for us to be waiting that long is Bull$hit. Plus they seat white people first, not a good place to be brown. I write this as I am finally seated and ignored for the last 15 minutes. Food review to follow. Finally had out order taken 30 minutes for food except for the pizza, which took 40 minutes. At these prices I expect a little bit of service, and who makes a pizza for 40 minutes? Food is meh, nothing I can’t get in Los Angeles.

John’s is the best pizza we’ve found near Times Square yet. Our spinach and cheese pizza rolls with marinara were amazing(wish I would’ve snapped a photo) and our pepperoni pizza was yummy. The style of the restaurant was really cool as well. The reason for the 4 stars is the slow service. We probably sat at our table for 10 mins. before we were served water. We will definitely recommend to friends.

Normally, there are really only three reasons I can think of to eat near Times Square: 1. You are a tourist and just do tourist things all the time, because you are glutton for punishment. 2. You are in the area for some other reason(Broadway show, etc.) and need to find something quick. 3. It’s late, you’re hungry, and you are staying nearby, but don’t wish to wander out of the area. As someone from an extremely touristy part of the world, I never do #1. That’s just self-hatred. I readily do the other 2, though. This was option #3. It was pouring rain, the traffic in midtown was nightmarish, and we were starving after just arriving at our TS hotel from a flight that repeatedly circled around NYC for almost 2 hours before we were allowed to land. We went to John’s based on the online reviews and had a decent dinner. They serve brick oven pizza, not true NYC greasy, awesome mess, street pizza. The service was way better than I expected on TS and the prices weren’t bad at all. I’d call this an extremely positive experience. It wasn’t going to blow our socks off, but it was quite nice. I would go here again if I was in town under even vaguely similar conditions. It wouldn’t even take it being *last resort* food like this situation initially was. The John’s Garlic Rolls were delicious.

Is this an OK place to go to after a show? Sure! Are you an unadventurous tourist looking for a bit of New York pizza? This will work! Otherwise, probably keep moving. The building is lovely… but they keep it so dark it’s hard to appreciate it. It’s also bizarrely decorated for such a lovely building. They have an opportunity to create a pretty unique atmosphere but it feels like a gothic cafeteria. Our server was delightful if slightly gruff… but isn’t that New York? The pizza… bleh. Not bad. Just sort of flavorless. The crust had good texture so it’s not a total loss. Probably worth the cost. OK. I know we’re in New York… and in Times Square no less… but you cannot charge 3 $ for a fountain soda and not offer refills. Like. Seriously? C’mon now. The Red Lobster offers refills. Anyway. You deserve better but you could do worse.

My brother heard about this pizza joint from the flight attendant on the way to NYC. So we decided to walk over to the pizza joint that once was a church. We walk up and AMEN we forgot that it was Easter! So we decided to come back the next day, in which we did. We walk in and the bar is to your right with the hostess, some tables and a seating area to the left. We were seated in front of the stone oven fire where the delicious pizza is being created! We got to select our toppings and opt for pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, sausage. It was delicious! The décor was easy on the eyes also! I wish I tried other pizza places in NYC to compare, but I was content with the what was deliciously served to us at John’s.

Came here with some friends since we’re tourists and I did not choose the place. I was honestly not expecting a whole lot but I was open to giving it a try. We had done it family style and gotten to try different pizzas but honestly none of them really wow-ed me. I ate some of the mushroom pizza and a cheese one and it just tasted like basic thin crust pizza. The salad and garlic bread was also very average. I felt like it was just so overhyped. Plus is that they are great with large groups and the upper floor where we were had a private bathroom, which was awesome! The interior of this place is also gigantic. It looks almost like it was built in an abandoned church or fire station or something. It was huge. Grand artwork was all over the walls and there was just so much attention to detail, although you couldn’t see a lot of it because of the extremely dim lighting.

My second time in NY during the past 9 months, but this time with my girlfriends to celebrate our milestone birthdays. Of the 4 of us, I’m the only one who has been to NY so I brought them here because last summer’s dinner with the family was delicious. This time, I tried the Hawaiian pizza and the Pizza Bianca(with sundried tomatoes, garlic and spinach). John’s did not disappoint! Wish we could’ve made another visit before leaving the city!

Great location in an old, converted church(or theater?), tasty pizza(we had the traditional cheese) and the rest of the menu, including yummy pasta, salads, sandwiches, calzone, etc… looks awesome as well! Quick, attentive service, and we never felt rushed. I wish we had more time to explore, because I’m seeing from other reviews that this place is even more beautiful and unique than I was noticing from our corner booth! Avoid the generic, over-priced Times Square area chains(you REALLY think Applebees tastes any different in NYC?!?) and look for some«home grown» options! You WON’T be sorry! :-)

Authentic New York Pizza to the core. This is a massive two story restaurant located directly in the theater district. On the lower level on opposite sides they have 2 pizza over stations. They are stretching, tossing dressing and cooking pizzas non stop. The wait can be long but it is so worth it. They have severe locations throughout the city but this review is just on this location. They don’t give free refills on soda as an FYI which is the norm for NYC. Being away from NYC for so long I was not accustomed to this when the check came. I believe it was $ 2.50 per cup of soda. The garlic knots were delicious as well. I would highly recommend them if you are not worried about carbohydrate intake.

My boyfriend and I were in search of a good lunch and stopped at John’s based on the Unilocal reviews. And we couldn’t leave New York without pizza! Since it was lunchtime there was a 20 minute wait. Not bad. Although it took awhile for our server to come take our order. My boyfriend ordered a Manhattan and they came back with a drink made with Coke and what tasted like fireball. What? He sent it back and ordered a jack and Coke. Which was a lot smaller for the same price. Confusing. It took while to get our pizza as well, but the pizza was very good. We ordered the margarita pizza. It could have used a little more sauce but I was pleased! Overall it was a nice atmosphere with good pizza but the service wasn’t the best!

Eh, not good. We came with friends who raved about this place, but it quickly became clear that these people know nothing about good eats as soon as we took the first bite of our Margherita(sorry friends!) Located in the Times Square district, John’s was packed with tourists from the moment they opened their doors on a Wednesday morning. We were quickly sat but service was totally lacking from the jump. There’s tons of waiters and bussers zipping around the massive dining room, but it was nearly impossible to flag anyone down for a drink refill. The pizza looks good but the eye is deceiving… stick to Ray’s if you want a touristy yet still delicious NY pizza experience.

— Leider.

Gutes italienisches Essen in Manhattan.
