Yikes. I’m all for a cheap no frills mani-pedi, but this place is scary. I walked in and was ushered back to a tattered and torn chair, and left there for about five minutes with two women(employees, I assume) who were sitting there watching whatever was loudly playing on the flat screen, while talking equally loudly to each other. In those five minutes, I had time to take my boots and socks off, scan the place for a sterilizer(didn’t see one), notice the foot bath had a dirty looking residue covering it, and then put my boots and socks back on again. When the tech finally came back to start my pedi, I muttered some excuse about being late to work, and ran out of there. To their credit, I did see one sterilizer on my way out the door, but still… I ended up going to Ivy Nails, which is twice as much for a mani-pedi, but worth every penny for the peace of mind that I won’t end up with gangrene of the toenail.

i’ve been here several times now for their mani/pedi $ 25 special and i’ve got to say it’s really good. they do a thorough job and the polish lasts for a long time. the workers are friendly and they make sure to play you a movie for you, while they chat in mandarin. i’ve been there once for the massage and it’s quite shady and the massages are really not very good. the girl who did me had really callused fingers and i could feel them with every rub – not relaxing at all. but as for the mani/pedi, they really do a great job, especially for the price. can’t beat $ 25 for mani /pedi. i think the mani’s are $ 8.

I went to this place a couple of years ago on a whim to get a massage and facial. I have to admit it was a little sketch-tastic walking in the narrow building and down the stairs to the massage rooms, but it was seriously probably the best massage I’ve ever had — I don’t go regularly, but I go enough. I don’t live in NYC and I’ve been trying to re-find this place for a while. I’m glad I could find it on here. I haven’t had any nail services — sounds like someone had a really bad experience here. But my facial was fine and my massage fantastic. I definitely recommend this joint, at least for the massages. :)

first time here last week, was recommended by friends — they stay open until about 2am! i had a massage. the guy was great — perfect amount of pressure. the only downside is that the doors/walls are quite thin, so you can hear people speaking and walking. also got a wax — great deal. the woman was careful and blew the wax down so it wasn’t too hot. its a great place for a quickie wax.

I was a little sketched out at first. I got a massage here and when I walked in it was all nail stations and pedicure stations in the back. They took me down this stairwell to the massage rooms into this tiny little room. However the massage was good and thats all that matters to me. The lights were left on so it wasn’t a very peaceful environment but I’m sure had I asked to turn the lights down he would have, but like I said the massage was good. $ 40 for a 30 minute massage. I thought it was worth it.

Let me preface this by saying that I have never posted a review on any site in the past but after my experience at HK Spa I was compelled. It was the worst experience that I have ever had in nail salon. Normally, I go to QQ in the village near my apartment. But, today I decided to go to HK at lunchtime since it is near my office. I should have known when you couldn’t see in the place because of stained glass doors and covered windows that this place was going to be beyond awful. I got my pedicure first, and this was alright — nothing I would ever go back for, but not awful(or at least I didn’t realize how awful until I got back to work and took a good look). Then, it was time for a manicure. The way she filed my nails left them MUCH shorter, lopsided and jagged. I asked her to fix a few times, but they just kept getting worse and shorter so I decided to just deal. Then, she asked me to pay before she painted. When I went to give her a tip slightly less than 15% for an awful job thus far, she insisted that I give her at least 15%. Clearly, this was not going to happen as you can not just demand tips unless it is disclosed prior to service that tip is automatically charged for certain conditions(a prepaid spa package, six or more at a restaurant, etc.). I still had to pay for the manicure and pedicure, but walked out of there without my nails painted and having wasted over an hour — and, of course, with the plan of heading straight to QQ after work to get both my pedicure and manicure redone. I don’t know how this place keeps its doors open.
