This place was good. Very small/intimate(only about 5 small tables for 2). Low light, rustic/romantic(low red lights and brick) in a nice and simple way. The salad(~$ 7.95) was a bit«dry». Got it as an appetizer, not knowing one would come with my veggie panini(which was very toasty and tasty, $ 8.95). Waitress was attentive and refilled water generously and frequently.

Took my girlfriend for a Birthday so she could have a small crash course in wine tasting. Experience was«EH,» Price: Bought a Living Social deal for $ 40 for the wine class for two, tasting, food pairing and two bottles of wine to take home. Seriously the price is great. Food: Don’t know. They had tiny appetizers that was NOT enough for the class. Considering you had to RSVP for the class and they knew how many people would attend, they could have provided sufficient food. Drink: The wine was GREAT!!! They have an amazing wine selection. You will NOT be disappointed!!! Location: Pretty high up there on the UES, but so worth it! Ambiance: Small, cute and romantic. Staff: They are okay. They are very KNOWLEGABLE about their wines. And it is great!!! The class was okay, it gave her the crash course that I was hoping for… they should have allowed for tasting notes. They encouraged interaction and it was a very open atmosphere type of event. I would recommend it for the experience. Why not.

This place has moved further up on 2nd Ave between 90th and 91st St. I haven’t tried the new place yet, but I expect it to provide the same delicious pizzas and warm service as before.

Attempted to patronize Giorgio’s on my most recent trip to NYC(July 2nd). I was so disappointed to discover that it is no longer in existence. CLOSED, with no indication that it was ever there. Boo hoo!!!

This is one of my go to pizza places on the UES. I order from Giorgio’s at least every 2 weeks. Their pizzas are thin crusted with great combinations of fresh ingredients. My favorites are the Santa Monica, the California Lovers and the odd Dolcetto. The buffalo wings are also pretty good. The restaurant and wine bar itself is very small. The in restaurant menu is also limited to entrees and select pizzas.

I ordered take out with my deal and the restaurant is small, dark, and the serivce is so SLOW. Is there only one person making pizza? The wait was killer. I was so hungry and it still found it eh. The texture was good but the taste… Imagine eating pita. Freshly made pita bread and instead of it being stuffed, veggies were on top and it was not sauteed.

Giorgio’s is a nice bargain in a strip of expensive wine bars. A few of the other reviews have commented negatively on the wines poured here– I can definitely see why. The list is almost exclusively cheap and Italian, but there are a few nice bottles on it if you know what you like. I found the pizza to be a pleasant surprise. Sometimes, it’s nice to have a casual, cute place where you don’t need to spend a lot in the City. Giorgio’s is perfectly adequate, and strives to be nothing more.

this place is a joke. granted, we went for a livingsocial wine tasting(yup, another one star review due to the wine tasting! you’d think after getting so many of these they would hmm, I dunno, possibly modify what they’re doing and/or do away with the event all together? Anyway, the tasting was a joke, the«shared appetizer» was mozzarella cubes and store bought salami Passed around the room of 40+ people. Oh, and even the«mini pizzas»…pizza bagels would have been a more welcomed snack. Looks like a great deal, it’s not. The end. Oh, and we walked out before receiving our $ 5 free bottle of wine cause we didn’t want to have to tip $ 10 in order to get it.

Do not go here. The pizza Is terrible and the service is horrendous. In a city full of amazing pizza, Giorgio’s is not worth your time or money.

Probably THEE worst pizza I had thus far in NYC! I much rather prefer Domino’s over this any day. First, the crust was bitter and tasted like cardboard. There was a consistent layer of char on the bottom of the Pizza… someone need to clean out their«brick oven.» Cheese was hard and yellow– never heard of a yellow«mozzarella»(as advertised on their menu). Tomato sauce, although quite tasty, was sparsely spooned in dime sized servings on top of the pizza. And since this pizza was delivered, all the sauce remained on top of the pizza box! Pizza WASNOT freshly made; it was dry, cold, and boring. I came out of a ONEMONTH carb fast before eating here– so ANY bread would have tasted like gold. It was not the case. I was completely devastated to break my lent for such poorly cooked, poor quality ingredients that make up this pizza! I will not be returning here.

Took me almost a year to return… and I probably wont anytime soon(though I live only a block away from this Giorgio’s, I prefer Pizza Park to the south and Delizia to the north) I guess we returned because of a Groupon, they’re only a block away, and we enjoyed their sister Giorgio’s Wine Bar at 91st&2nd last weekend(albeit just drinks in lounge). So we walked to 71st&2nd then split: hubs went to Walgreens’ redbox to rent Salt, while I picked up our phone order at Giorgio’s. — 10 spicy buffalo wings $ 9 — too oily = too soggy — chicken panini w/mozzarella, pesto(«and roasteli peppers» but I only saw tomatoes!?) $ 8 — chicken was dry. My fault, but still sucks: Served in Italian bread instead of the flat panini’s w/grill marks I’m familiar with and was craving — 12″ bolongese pizza(ground beef w/mozz & tomato sauce) $ 12 — the only thing we liked — 16″ pizza Teriyaki chicken w/pineapple, mozz, pesto, & tomato sauce $ 16 — soggy, either bc they made it first or becuase so large. Worse, chicken was again, dryyyy When I was ordering via phone, saw a comment on that they’re the best gourmet pizza in UES, but they dont even have pizza with arugula and prosciutto! So not gourmet, and definitely not the best. Probably the cheapest of the surrounding pizza joints, but If «gourmet» bc brick oven I’d rather go to Fratelli If you must try their decently priced pizza(considering UES) over pizza chains, I believe they do free delivery and a 20% off first order online

I really don’t understand how this place has 4 stars. I ordered takeout from here at night and the pizza here was average at best. It took them over an hour to deliver the pizza when they said it would get there in 20 or 30 min. The pizza itself was ok, but pretty overpriced. We got the taco pizza and the barbecue chicken plus pizzas and they were ok. Definitely not something I expect from a 4 star Unilocal pizza place. If you come here expecting average pizza, you won’t be disappointed. But if you think some of the pizza’s sound pretty interesting(a taco pizza sounded pretty awesome at the time) then you’ll probably be disappointed.

I have ordered pickup and delivery from Giorgio’s a bunch of times and every experience has been really quick and certainly tasty. The space itself is pretty tiny — 10 tables total, maybe? — and the warm atmosphere makes me think that this would definitely be a good place to go for a low-key first date or the perfect mid-week night out. Ambiance is not lacking, with dark red and dark brown wood colors throughout, combined with dim lighting. The pizza is well-priced at $ 13 for a 12-inch and a few dollars more for a 16-inch. The 12-inch is too big for one person but the 16-inch is perfect for sharing. The pizzas are totally customizable so they’re great for splitting between friends. My top picks for pizza: santa monica(mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, pesto sauce, sun-dried tomato and Goat cheese) and dolcetto(mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni, pineapple and Goat cheese). The pizzas are really a great value. But beware: this is thin crust pizza and it’s best eaten quickly after it comes out of the oven… hence, I pick it up myself and don’t opt for delivery. Pasta dishes and other Italian staples here are all pretty basic but also inexpensive… penne alla vodka and the chicken parmesan sandwich are both definitely on my list of go-to options when I get home late from work. As you might imagine(Giorgio’s specializes in pizza, after all), the chicken parmesan has plenty of mozzarella cheese and it is made with great bread. Overall impression: Giorgio’ s is a great neighborhood standby that works very well for take-out and ordering in, and although I haven’t actually eaten in here I am really looking forward to trying the dine-in option soon enough — probably for a low-key meal with friends.

I was lured here for a Sunday brunch with the promise of an all-you-can-drink deal AND brunch for something like 18 bucks. All you can drink?! For UNDER20 bucks?! I’m there! I was a little nervous upon arrival when I discovered we were the ONLY people in the entire place. After eating and drinking here, I’m not sure why this was the case… And after a drink or two this was no longer a concern. Ate: mozerella and tomato panini(2 thumbs up) Drank: Mimosa(would have been better with more SHAM-POG-NAAAH) Wine– Pinot Grigio(yum!)

Oh Unilocal,I am sooooo unhappy with the positive reviews of this place. Worst pizza ever. Delivery: over an hour after being quoted 20 minutes… on a monday night… pizza was folded in half when it did arrive. Pizza: 2 of our 5 toppings left off… greasy, limp, just bad Salad: «baby» spinach… not so… it was that nasty«adult» spinach you see at the grocery store in bunches YUCK!!!

Revisit to Griogio’s reminded me why I used to go here at least once a week! The pizza is still the best thin crust you’ll have without an hour long wait in New York! The owner is still personable, chatty(in a good way!) and generous when it comes to pouring wine. Wine options are aplenty and you will not be unhappy with the price or pairing. The salad is fantastic! The Tricolore while simple is very fresh and delicious. The parmigiano used is also perfect. sigh, till next time Giorgio!

FAAAABOOOLUS.(fabulous). Great, tasty, simple pizza. Good wine, nice staff, great location, great people watching, and not overly crowded. I had the Margarita pizza and found the crust very flavorful and the sauce the perfect amount of tangy and sweet. The fresh basil on top really added the perfect amount of flavor. The server didn’t let our water glasses go empty and was incredibly friendly, even though we were on the cheap side and did minimal drinking and split a pie. I think the final check was about $ 30 or something for a nice dinner for 2. I’d definitely go back!

OK — I am putting this back up to 3 stars as I they have now re-modeled and the rats and mice are gone. Which is good — because I really like their pizza — especially with eggplant and mushrooms. They have alot of nice veggie toppings. ++++++++ What I wrote before… Ok, I am really sorry to have to Unilocal this — but it is the truth! I ate here many times and would have Unilocaled it at 3 or 4 stars for the tasty, very thin crusted pizza with great veggie toppings. However… They have been written up by the board of health for vermin(in this case mice/rats) infestation. And — I saw a rat in the front of the store one day while I was heading over there. It skittered in & out and dropped down through the metal cellar door out front. Thus I was and am totally grossed out and now my cute little pizza place is ruined for me. I hope they can clean out the rats — but for now I am staying away. Oh — and their pizza really does look like those in the photographs. And it is very tasty stuff. Manybe get take out and play dumb?

Giorgio’s will always have a sentimental pull over my heart, given the warm memories. I came here the first time one fine evening in January to meet Vic, Snarky and 3 other amazingly cool Unilocalers, all dear friends of mine. Vic and Snarky were back from their vacation, and I hadn’t seen them in a while. As we sat down and placed the menus on the table, Vic asked me, «So, what’s new?» I glanced at the menu, raised her hand, and replied, «Very nice. When?» As the table buzzed with excitement over her now visible(gigantic) ring, Vic turned around to Snarky, and beamed, «It didn’t even take him a moment to notice.» Priceless. «Crack Pizza», as she called it then, and perhaps still does, became merely an accompaniment as we listened to the charming story behind Snarky’s proposal. As it is in my neighborhood, I have since ordered many times from Giorgio’s. It may not be in the same league as the pizza heavyweights(DiFara, Totonno’s, etc.), but it is a competent choice in the thin crust category. Given it’s proximity, it’s an outstanding option for delivery. Pizzas come in three sizes: 12, 16, and 18 inches, with some of the most diverse and liberal selection of toppings available in predefined pizzas. I am normally a purist when it comes to pizza and avoid the urge to add enough toppings to make it into a paella! Still, I am intrigued that people would want to try Tuna as a topping, and have Teriyaki/BBQ sauce/Salsa replace the tomato sauce. Interestingly, the basic Margherita is executed a bit differently from tradition, and as opposed to having a layer of sauce under the cheese, Giorgio’s spreads the cheese directly on the dough and garnishes it with chunks of tomato sauce that don’t spread out during baking. The mozzarella isn’t of the quality that one sees in other premier pizzerias, but the thin crust is quite nice. Crisp on the side of the oven and chewy on the inside. I may add that Giorgio’s closes rather early(before 11 pm) and is thus not an option for consumption by the drunk hordes grazing on the UES. And, as the warm memories short circuit all the questions raised by the left brain, I don’t even need to respond to a strong challenge to my core values: why, on earth, am I eating California style pizza??! :) I guess that’s what friends are for. But, hey, I am not the only one who engages in food hypocrisy… the first time I met Vic, she told me that she was a vegetarian. Yeah, right!!!

Sunday afternoon on the UES …wasn’t craving brunch …didn’t want to deal with Sunday brunch crowds …logged onto Unilocal Mobile and found Giorgio’s … all the 5***** reviews [Victoria H., Steven V., etc.] piqued my curiousity — is Giorgio’s really all that? …walked into the cute tiny pizza shop — brick oven in center view(to the purists, it’s a gas brick oven, not coal) …on display were several freshly made pies: Santa Monica, Mushroom, Grilled Vegetable, pepperoni and a white pie . Tried the Mushroom slice($ 3)…OMG! That is GOOD! . Thought it was a fluke, so I tried the Santa Monica($ 3.65)…AMAZING! . While waiting for the Santa Monica slice, I realized that the pie below contained grilled eggplant(I originally mistook it for sausage)…it was in fact the grilled vegetable pie($ 3.65/slice)…after a minute in the brick oven, it came out perfectly warm(not scalding hot)…MOLTODELICIOSO! What is it about Giorgio’s Brick Oven Pizza? It’s not from a «coal» brick oven, it’s not D.O.C, etc… but after 3 slices on this first visit I could surmise that they know how to make pizza taste right: — Thin crust — even brown bottom layer of crust. — Crust edges have a crisp exterior but a doughy softness in the middle. — Sweet tomato sauce is sparingly dollaped on top of the mozzerella cheese(against the grain from the typical way of making pizza, but it works!). So after 3 slices, I trekked back downtown to walk off the meal… four words kept going through my mind, «Giorgio’s ISALLTHAT!» Can’t wait to go back!
