Long wait, but great burgers!!! Came here the other day for some burgers and fries. After staring at the menu for a bit, I finally decided on the burger of the week, which was Angus burger, with bacon and two type of cheeses on a buttered bun. It definitely tasted as good as it sounded and the fries were delicious as well. The food is little on the expensive side, but for a treat meal, it really is not that bad. My only complaint besides for the long wait time was that they cooked the burger on the very rare side, which was perfect for me, but I think would definitely be a problem for others.

This place is consistently phenomenal! I’ve come here once a week for over a year and have never had a bad experience. The fries are a must and go well with the garlic dipping sauce. My only complaint is that the lines are long, but the food is well worth the wait.

Best burger in NYC. yea i said it. consistently fantastic. The burger is always cooked to a perfect med-rare and the frites are always crispy. You would think when there’s a line of 30 people, they’d rush and push out a overcooked burger or soggy fries, but they don’t. During the lunch rush wait times can be 15 – 20 minutes but you can call in your order in advanced. Been saying for years that they should have a brick and mortar spot and they finally do. burger bar coming to williamsburg. can’t wait to check ti out

I love this truck. I have been getting fries from them every Wednesday for the past few years. The fries are consistently amazing, the portions are big, and the prices are great. The guy that takes the orders will remember you if you come consistently, which is pretty impressive for a truck. He knows I only get fries and will just put in the order for me when he sees me. Also you get a Dum Dum with your fries, which is awesome.

All-around solid burger. The burger I tried(don’t remember the name) had onion relish, gruyère, and some kind of slaw. The flavors didn’t come together quite as well as I hoped, so I would probably try a different burger next time. My biggest complaint was the bread, which for me makes a big difference in a burger. Overall, though, good lunch option when you have a slow afternoon at work and can afford the major food coma that follows eating one of these massive burgers.

Yum! Great burger! Got it from the food truck in midtown but assume the store will be good as well.

On of my favorite food trucks in NYC. Particularly always enjoy the Burger of the Week. Look forward to their stop in Hudson Square on Wednesdays. P. S. Don’t miss the dum dum lollipop at the bottom of the bag.

A staple in FiDi and must goto! My favorite food truck down in this location. Their skirt steak sandwich is clutch and add your own toppings to make it your own. It has become a popular destination for many folks in the area so try and call ahead! Their service is key and always attentive. Check them out! B

Over time, Frites ‘n’ Meats has become one of my favorite food trucks in the sparse NYC food truck landscape, its clockwork-like Monday appearance near my Midtown office a deserved excuse to pig out with a juicy burger and fries. Burgers are juicy, and still red in the center. There isn’t the excessive topping novelty of, say, a Five Guys’ burger, but it’s not needed here. These burgers are merely a vehicle for delivering the flavor and texture of the meat front-and-center. I’ve found through trial and error that on this burger, many of the toppings can get quite superfluous. I tend to like onions and pickles to provide a tangy counterpoint to the meat, but really, even those aren’t necessary with this burger. That this comes from a truck just makes this all the more impressive. Fries are double-fried in the Belgian style. Probably as a result of this cooking style combined with however these fries are sourced, the end result is the type of fries Burger King’s fries try(and usually fail) to be. As some other reviewers have pointed out, this is not a bad thing at all. Fry portions, served in a paper cone with a newspaper print in reference to the Belgian origins of fries(frites?) as street food, are extremely large and intended for sharing. For a few quarters more there is an assortment of aiolis and sauces(mostly mayonnaise-based) available, similar to those you’d get at a Belgian pub — though the fries are great as they are, but consider trying one of these for the full experience. You have the rest of your life to dip fries into ketchup. The only issue is when I go here, I want both a burger and fries, which means I end up spending more money than I want to get more food than I can eat. Granted, the fries are quite cheap given the portions as of this writing, and would be fantastic for sharing, but it’s still a massive portion for one person. If this truck offered a smaller individual size offering for fries, it would be perfect.

NY is not great in terms of food truck culture. You’d expect it to be better, but of course parking is an issue. Still, Frites & Meats is one of the better options here. Recently, they’re most often near the Satchi & Satchi offices at Hudson and Houston, which happens to be along a route I often cycle. Frites: These are double-cooked, I suspect per the Bourdain recipe. A single order is enormous, likely large enough to share between two. You get a bunch of Heinz ketchup packets, by default, with your order, but better to spend a little to get the aioli or chipotle ketchup. I’d like the option of Dutch/Indonesian peanut satay dressing, but these are still pretty tasty. About the only other thing they offer is a burger, either«angus» or «wagu,» the latter a bit more expensive. For no additional charge, mesclun, tomato, pickle, and onion, and you should ask for all. Cheese is an additional charge, but the the blue cheese is high quality. In general: Amazing frites; pretty good burgers; good value for the money. But not a sublime food truck experience.

Rarely do I give 5 star reviews out but this one is well deserved! Excellent service, excellent food! I’ve been here in the past, but this is my first full service meal here(burgers and frites together). I came here for lunch around 11:50am on a weekday and there was already a small group of people waiting. I thought I had beat the lunch crowd, but I was wrong. I love the ordering system here where you grab a marker and menu card and mark off what you want. Excellent thinking and very efficient. In addition, they offer a loyalty card where if you come here more than 10 times for a burger you get 1 free! Another big plus! On my first try, I had forgotten to put my name on my card, but the guy nicely asked what my name was and wrote it in for me telling me «No worries». My burger and frites were ready in 5 minutes and off I was back to my desk. Here’s what I thought: Burger — I got the Angus Beef burger with cheddar cheese, raw onion, tomato, pickles, mesclun greens and ketchup. The burger was EXCELLENT! The burger was big, juicy and cooked to perfection(medium to medium rare). Nothing else I can really say other than it was a great burger! Frites — They gave a massive amount of frites in a cone. It was pouring out of the cone and there were plenty inside the bag when I took the cone out. Don’t you just love when there are extra frites lying around in the bag? It’s like free frites! The frites were fresh, crunchy and(this is in no way a knock) like Burger King fries. They were lightly salted and really good. By the end of this meal I was 100% satisfied and full. Rarely do I get both feelings at once, but it was the case this time around! Look forward to coming back and getting my free burger one day(after the 10th of course)!

My coworkers go to this place religiously, so I had lofty expectations for it heading in. I went fairly basic with the burger, and added bacon for good measure. The burger was really undercooked for my liking, and I didn’t find out till after that you can ask them to cook it a certain way. I suppose I’m used to servers asking me how I want it cooked. Anyway, the parts that were cooked sufficiently were good, and the bacon took it to a new level. Another knock I had is that they gave me the wrong bun. Although it was still good, I’d have much preferred the one I ordered. For those unsure of spending the extra $ 3 and change on the fries, channel your inner Nike and just do it. They are fantastic, and they give you enough for an entire meal by themselves. For what it’s worth, I would probably have given them 4 stars if the burger was cooked more and the bun was correct. Otherwise, I felt like it was just another burger. Would go back though, so there’s that too. Add this to the heaping pile of wishy-washy 3-star Unilocal reviews.

Frites n’ Meats is pretty neat. They have tasty eats for a lunch time treat. The cook your meat to the perfect heat; from a truck that must be quite a feat. To order you must fill a sheet and spend a fairly long time waiting on your feet. But that’s alright because they hands down beat any burger you’d get on the street. Take a bite and you’ll be greet by a fantastic flavors you’ll want to repeat. The weaker spot would be the frites, but Frites n’ Meats should not retreat. Their burgers do deserve a seat at the table amongst the elites, but a cut in prices is the one thing I entreat. But otherwise, their reputation is concrete. So the one piece of advice I’d like to repeat is that you should track down their truck from their Tweets and help yourself to something sweet.

I used to be a vegetarian. During that time I realized that my absolute favorite food is an awesome burger. Now that I am no longer a veg I try to sample as many burgers as possible in search of the perfect one. Enter Frites & Meats, home of the $ 8.50 waygu burger. I got the waygu on potato onion bun with lettuce tomato onion ketchup and onion jam. It was cooked perfectly, tasted buttery and had the perfect char on the bread. If I could I would eat one every day. Service is polite and quick. Perfect. Plus they give you a complimentary dum dum which I prefer in almost all situations.

After dodging this truck several times because of the scary long times, I finally hit it at the right time and decided I had no reason not to give it a go… plus I was really craving a burger! I was happy to see that regardless of lines, they seem to crank out your food pretty fast. I only waited a few minutes. It looked to me like you can choose from pre selected burger combinations or customize your own, which seems to be what most people do here. It’s part of the fun! I stuck with the standard Grass Fed Angus Burger, on a Brioche bun and added Gruyère, savory onion jam, greens, a slice of tomato and mayo. It was divine. Everything tasted fresh, delicious and of good quality. They’ve got a lot of wonderful add-ons and flavors to really take your burger to the next level. I held off on fries. They seemed pretty ordinary and didn’t look like true Belgian Frites as advertised, but I did love the sounds of all the dipping sauces they offer. I should really try em’ before knockin’ em. The best part was the dum dum lollipop they throw in the bag for after. That was a nice touch. I’ll definitely keep this truck in my lunch rotation on days when I want to indulge.

Delicious burger and fries with a lollipop. Food 4.25 Stars I’ll just come right out and say it. I ADORETHEBURGERS!!! Now that I have said that let me go into a little more detail. The burgers are typically cooked around medium(sometimes more towards the medium-rare side) which is what I prefer since the flavor of the meat comes out more. My normal burger is: American Kobe Sesame seed bun Gruyère Cheese(sometimes cheddar) Savory Onion Jam(aka heavenly onion jam) You can mix and match any different style. Many of the add-ons are free, but bacon and avocado will cost a little extra. The burgers are pretty large so make sure you have a big appetite when ordering from here. The double-fried Belgian style fries are delicious as well, but it is the side sauces that truly make them top notch. I usually go with the wasabi mayo and the garlic aoli, but if you enjoy a good kick the spicy chili is the way to go. Also, with every fries you get a nice lollipop as a treat. =) I would avoid the skirt steak sandwich, not because it isn’t good, but because it is a hassle to eat. The portion is huge in comparison to the price you pay, but it is very tough. I would recommend taking it out of the sandwich and cutting it with a good knife(a plastic knife will not do anything to cut it, let alone put a dent into the meat). Service: 4 Stars Even with long lines the burgers come out pretty quickly even though they are cooked to order. The cashier — chef are all professional and know what they are doing and tend to remind the regulars to use their punch cards to get a free burger* ***You get a free burger after getting 10 punches in your card*** Overall: 4.25 Stars I just adore the burgers here. I just wish there was one near me at my new office. If you are looking for a delicious burger and fries for lunch this is the place to go. If you know there is one near you just go outside and follow your nose. The smell emanating from the cooking burgers of this truck is what originally lured me to its location.

I have officially seen the light. I snuck out of work, blinded by my PMS cravings and followed my nose like a fucking toucan. Thankfully it didn’t lead me to fruit but instead directly into the grilled-beef-fat cloud that was this food truck. A relapsed vegetarian … again. I hang my head in shame while shoving my mouth with a crispy yet tender burger hugged gently in a sesame bun. The edge of the patty was the best part, perfectly salted and tasty. I don’t want to go back but I know I will in exactly a month. See you then. *walks away defeated*

Lost half my lunch break hunting this place down so not only was i frustrated but my expectations were already very high. I finally found it,(check their twitter!) there was no line thankfully. I ordered the garlicky guac skirt steak burger and side of frites with garlic aioli. Holy shitballs mom. First, it was absolutely massive. Half of the skirt steak was the size of a larger burger anywhere else. I was already in love before tasting it. First bite and I knew this burger was top quality. The cook was medium rare, perfect sear, perfect seasoning, and the guac and onions just made it even better. I was an absolute mess eating his burger along the docks in the WFD but I didn’t care, this was my food heaven. Bite after bite this burger was phenomenal. The frites were also perfect, crisp and with a great aioli too. Reminded me of the frites I had traveling throughout Europe rolled up in a newspaper. The truck itself is great and the crew is super chill. Guy even offered me more frites on the house when I asked for another bag for the rest of my frites I couldn’t finish. Amazing. Can’t wait for next Thursday to try the rest of their menu.

Quality burgers, cooked well, gourmet toppings and great fries Got the Smithland special today, with brioche bun, Gouda cheese, and fried onions. Not one part of the meal disappointed me. The burger was juicy and tender, and the bun held the toppings very well. The fries were very crispy and seasoned well and the horseradish aioli was really good i would only say that i don’t believe burgers should ever cost more then a whole meal that I could get at another truck. Don’t get me wrong, I will be coming down to the truck no matter what the price is to get a burger from here, just because it tastes great, and I am a sucker for a good burger, but I don’t love spending 13 bucks for a burger and fries when I am buying it at a food truck not restaurant
