Closed yesterday(June 10th2008) — They always had reasonable prices — esp for beer — and very friendly service — I hope they find a new space!

An excellent restaurant. The prices are not so high and you get amazingly good Malaysian food. A great place to have lunch. You will surely impress anyone with the food here. The seafood laksa is the bomb.

Every time I have been in NYC, I have dined here. I just love their spicy shrimp noodle soup. Everything is so reasonably priced and service very friendly. We visited last week and we were told they were closing down due to high rent. They hope to open in a lower rent neighborhood. Hopefully, that will happen because it is on my list of eateries on my next visit to NYC.

I’ve been here several times for dinner and once for brunch. I haven’t been disappointed. I’ve had the duck rolls(amazingly delicious), peanut noodles, Penang laksa, chicken satay. I heart this little coffee shop, it reminds me of the coffee shop at Raffles Hotel in Singapore a little bit. My boyfriend and I have been here on a random Friday(or was it Saturday?) night and they had a live troupe of flamenco dancers and guitar player. It was awesome. I used to dance flamenco so I was clapping along in time to the music and shouting olé every now and then. hehe. Apparently they have live flamenco dancing and music once a month. The service is always really good here. The owners are really sweet. The first time we ate late lunch here, the French owner came by and introduced himself to us and asked us how we like the food. Very mom and pop kind of place with an eclectic fusion.

I was toying with the idea of giving Franklin Station Café a 3-star review. See, after lunch today, looking to extend a gossipy conversation with a colleague, I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream — just the thing to fight the frigid weather lately — and was told, «Sorry, no whipped cream.» SAYWHAT? How can you not offer whipped cream with hot chocolate? Anyway, I calmed down, the hot chocolate was tasty, and the café salvaged its fourth star. Cute place — cozy yet spacious — with a fun little menu. I enjoyed the Avocado Multigrain Sandwich with Tomato & Gouda, and a Blueberry Smoothie. You may also choose your favorites from a nice selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sides and desserts. Lots of movies are filmed in the area, so if someone yells«action,» grab a window seat and enjoy!(Maybe it sounds lame, but I loved watching Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson race down Franklin Street again and again while filming«My Super Ex-Girlfriend.»)

Malaysian + French + Uncrowded Brunch = Yay! I brunched here twice last week and was quite satisfied each time. The place is a great corner space, with almost as much outdoor seating and indoor. The waitstaff has always been nice, and I love that you can ask them for the lunch menu at any time of the day. The omelets are the perfect size – oh the joy of the goat cheese & herb omelet. The French toast is nice, and the egg and croissant sandwich is made pannini style – so good! The soups are huge and delicious as well!

Corner Malaysian Diner? Quireky? Yes. This tiny spot in Tribeca is great for a sandwich, cookie, smoothie, but most importantly, terrific Malaysian comfort food with some actual kick. My favorites are the duck rolls and curry rendang. Grab a mango shake to soothe your tongue. Prices are low, especially for this neighborhood of $ 4 million lofts.
