I completely agree with many of the recent reviewers. The service was great — the place is no-frills but there is no waiting time or any of the other nonsense that accompanies fancy spas. Madeline was sweet & gave a terrific facial massage. However from start to finish, there was definitely a very obvious hawking of products. Beware — you come in wanting a basic facial but they will convince you that you need an extra $ 30 in services. There was also some interrogation about the types of products I used and how I should think about switching. I don’t plan to return.

Love the place! I’ve been going for the past 10 years. Before finding this place, I went to numerous facial places to find the«perfect one.» I tried this place based on an advertisement deal I saw in the papers and have been a loyal customer since then. I generally have a go-to facialist but also have been attended by others as well. All are thorough and consistent. Each visit produces the same great results. The reviews regarding pushing products is not false… back then, but it does not occur nowadays. Staff may recommend products but do not push it. It’s your choice if you want to purchase; I’ve purchased a few and they were good products.

i went to essential two days ago, my skin was a disaster and Dorothy extracted almost all my bumps! i had gone to three places in a different city in onemonth and they only made things worse. Essential performed a miracle. Those aestheticians are the best in the world and i am super happy! if you have congested pores Essential is the place to go to!

I love Essential Day Spa & Cosmetics. I have been going for a few years now and the team is such good energy. They make you feel like you are right at home. My skin has done so much better since I have been getting microdermabrasion with extractions. I will be coming for years to come. I love the relationship I have with the girls and how good I feel afterwards! Once you get the mini massage with your facial you will be running back too. Such a very clean, comfortable and cozy place.

i went to Essential Day Spa & Cosmetics for facial. during the consultation the aesthetician suggested microdermabrasion facial treatment for my problem skin. I decided to give it a try. i was very impressed with the results. not only was the face massage, shoulder and neck massage relaxing but the extractions were very thorough, clean and professional. and my facial ended with a customize mask and a green tea soft mask. i loved it! she also recommended a package because packages are put together with a great discount. so as picky as i am, i decided to purchase a package. i definitely recommend this place. Two Thumbs up!

I dropped by Essential yesterday and this is something I almost never do — visiting a facial center. The staff was very nice, friendly and professional. Annie, who may be the manager there, was very charming and friendly. The location was convenient as well. Will introduce my wife to the place next time.

Great place! The facial cleared up my skin, I def see the difference. I went in for glycolic and on another occasion, went in for microderm facial. I have also done the chest and back facial. Bought packages for each. They are awesome, but do upsale their products, but then again it is a business.

Did Gycolic peel, facial, and microdermabrasion midweek around 5pm. No wait and the specialists seemed to be extremely attentive. They rlly do try to push their product on you to the point where its ridiculous. They also tried a little too hard to get me to sign up to a $ 900 facial plan without even seeing the results of this one. I explained that I’m honestly a student, and I simply don’t have that kind of money to spend on my skin. Still, they persisted and it was just kind of absurd. I do think the pushing of products/services is extremely obnoxious. I am a very passive person, and I find it very hard to say no to people, so its very stressful to me. I also hate when its just so obvious that i’m nothing but a dollar sign. I do think, however, that their products are very good. I was in the market for a facial scrub, so i bought their for around $ 40 for a huge bottle that has lasted me months and is not even 1⁄10 done. And they did do a rlly good job with the facial and glycolic peel. Of all things I absolutely fell in LOVE with the microdermabrasion. If it weren’t for the pushiness, I’d give it a 5. However, I think a spa should be relaxing, and if they want to up-sell, they should be a little more discrete and understanding.

Before booking my facial for spa week I read tons of reviews. Most people said they enjoyed their treatments here but the girls were way too pushy about buying extra sessions/products. I’m not a pushover whatsoever and knew I could handle the pressure, so I decided to book with them regardless of what people said. I had booked a microderm facial with Nicole for the $ 50 spa week special. When she first started cleaning and prepping my skin she said I had acne and lots of clogged pores(I haven’t had«acne» for years). She suggested that I do the acne facial as well as the microderm and that they’d give me a special price of $ 160 for both. I asked how long it would take and she said it was the same amount of time as the facial I had booked for $ 50. I told her no I’ll just do the microderm I booked, then she continued talking about my «acne» and how beneficial the upgraded facial would be. Again I said no and she still had the nerve to continue. Really?! Isn’t a facial suppose to be relaxing… At this point I just wanted to tell her to forget the whole thing and leave, but they had my credit card # so I figured they’d charge me anyway so I should just stay. The facial itself was alright. Most facials I’ve had in the past have included some massage, but this one really didn’t. When she put the steamer on my face she just left the room. Then when she put the mask on my face she left again(for 5 – 10 mins each time). I feel like she did a good job overall(minus the lack of massage) but because she was so pushy it was hard for me to relax. As I left the room and walked to the front desk I braced myself for the sales pitch that I knew was coming. They offered me a package of 10 facials for 700-something. I said no and again they asked. Then she wrote it all down showing me how much money I’d save. I said no then she explained it another way. Seriously?! At this point I wanted to slap the b****, but somehow I managed to keep my composure. But she kept going and going, so finally I interrupted her and said I’d just like to pay for today and leave. She seemed really upset that I said this so abruptly, but atleast it made her stop talking. So overall… decent facial, but not worth it at all due to the pressure they put on you to give them more money. Go somewhere else that will appreciate the business you are giving them even if it’s just one service you are purchasing.

Still 5 star in my book. went last night for a facial. Shelly hooked me up! She is great. My skin cleared up lovely. Just say no to the products if you don’t want them… I guess they have to try and sell as part pitch… it doesn’t bother me anymore… to me the girls are still nice about it if I don’t buy… I spend enough on the facials anyway. I have a glycolic peel package. They definitely specialize in problem skin. I’m totally happy with Essential!

Full Disclosure: If I were to be just rating the quality of the facials I’ve received, I would have given 4.5−5 stars but given the consistent and aggressive push for purchasing products, the overall experience suffers quite a bit. I have gone to both locations(they have one on 14th street) on several occasions hoping I would have a specialist who doesn’t push their products so hard but alas this hasn’t been the case. I give up. To be clear. I have tried on every visit to be firm in telling the skin care specialist that I wasn’t interested in purchasing products but had no luck. Who wants to pay over $ 100 for a facial and not be able to relax for one second of it?
