Good burrito place! The burrito is super filling and there are many special flavors(eg. a kimchi one) that you can choose from. The mind-blowing aspects of this burrito was the habanero salsa and pineapple salsa — so much flavor! The process of creating your burrito is similar to Chipotle/Qdoba; choose a base(rice bowl, flour wrap, lettuce wrap), choose a protein(tofu is available!), choose vegetables, 2 toppings(eg. pineapple salsa), and salsa/sauce. However, I fif not think that this burrito tasted authentically mexican — it seemed to be missing some of the spices, but it was good regardless! The décor inside the restaurant(and to-go burrito area) is very cozy and full of vintage Spanish posters. Overall, super filling and bold — would come back when craving a more creative burrito!

Way better than chipotle– higher quality. Long lines during lunch but moves relatively along. No where to really sit inside so gotta take it to go. It’s made to order so pick what you want– way more options than chipotle as well. I got the chicken rice bowl with queso and sour cream/cheese as well as arbol sauce(orange spicy one). Enough kick to it but not too much. I also added some kimchi. Total was around 10 bucks. They have a bunch of hot sauces to chose from in the corner. There’s a plethora of toppings to pick from and everything is fresh especially since it comes straight from the el vez restaurant. Would def come to this more option if it was close to my apartment but it’s close to where I work so I come here a couple times during the week. Def a hidden gem since most ppl confuse it with the actual el vez restaurant but it’s located right next door!

So goooood. Chipotle on crack. Line is long during lunch hour, but the fusion style is delicious here. Fair warning — biased to Korean inspired cuisine.

So I went to El Vez on Cinco De Mayo… My hubby is a strong supporter of my Mexican Heritage that may or may not really exist ;o) … None the less we went to the Burrito bar portion of El Vez, not the dine in restaurant part. It wasn’t too crowded, plenty of bar stool type seating, the service was friendly, and they had a wall of HOTSAUCE(It looked magical!)!!! … The tough part about this place is deciding, they have burrito combinations/specials(Frito Pie, K-Town, The Vegan etc.) that they’ve put together themselves or you can be a real first timer and start from scratch building your own combination of ingredients. Making a burrito seemed so complex because of all the choices, way more than Chipotle, but I was up for the challenge!!! You choose whether to keep things traditional and get bread or be healthy and make a bowl or salad out of it… Today was a celebration so I went for the full burrito experience, got to choose my rice(three types), meat, cheese, sauce, and even was able to choose three additional toppings!!! Take that Chipotle… These people working there are pros, they were nice about it but when they’re in their groove you’re just trying to keep up as they go along the line and put your burrito together — and you can’t help but be amazed when they’re able to wrap all those ingredients and make it look so neat! They sell regular refrigerated beverages and beer to go along with your meal. And they have a cooler of ice water by the Hot Sauce Shrine where you can get a sample cup of water if needed. I came after 2pm so there wasn’t a line at all but the Bar like all bars closes early, at 4pm… Also I almost forgot that we got the ice cream after our burritos… all I can say that is was soft serve — nothing more, nothing less, nothing memorable and the churro stars were hard as ROCKS!!!

As a celebration for cinco de Mayo, I took my wife here during her lunch break since it was right across the street from her job. She never even noticed the burrito bar. I looked it up on Unilocal! And good thing, cuz I hadn’t noticed it before either. El Vez burrito is a wonderful place to go. They are connected to the restaurant El Vez but they are only open for lunch. They have lots of seating and considering it was cinco de Mayo it wasnt busy at all. They make burrito wraps and burrito bowls. So many options to fill your burrito, you could come back everyday for a month and not order the same burrito twice. I got the«frito pie». Basically ground beef, black beans, cilantro lime rice, corn chips, spicy cheese sauce and jalapeños. They stuffed that thing to the max. He could barely wrap it up for me and it must’ve weighed 5 pounds. It was very very delicious and only costed 9.50. Most places in the area are closer to $ 20 per person, so that made my pockets happy. It was so filling I only ate 2⁄3 of my burrito. I probably could have finished it but I saw they had ice cream, so I ordered some. They had chocolate and horchata(which is an almond base) and various toppings. I got the horchata with churro stars. The ice cream was good! Definitely gonna drag my wife here for lunch the next time our schedules sync up again.

This is the best quick Mexican food you can find in the area. My top choice for lunch!

What I can say about this place? You have spoiled me. I can never ever eat Chipotle again. When I am with my friends at Chipotle I just keep telling how good is El Vez Burrito, and why they must take a PATH/Subway and try it. Best Burrito Bowl I have ever had in my entire life. Chicken is very tasty. The grilled pineapple topping is amazing. Con: There is a long queue during lunch time and takes almost 20 – 30 minutes.

My El Vez visit was very good. Cool Mexican theme w/hot sauce salsa condiments wall and rustic wood. I was lucky to beat the crazy lunch lines as you could definitely wait 10 – 15 min to get your fixings. Servers were extremely friendly although the dishes could be a little more generous on portion size. I was left content. I was not overly full. The mix of grilled chicken and veggies topped with white rice, black bean, guacamole, pineapple salsa, jalapeño, and pumpkins seed was excellent. Fresh and flavorful. El Vez prices were about what I expected for the district $ 13 for my bowl and bottle spring water. If I could reference type place the best comparisons would be more upscale version of a chipotle or qdoba. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

WAYYY better than El Vez the restaurant. If you’re a fan of Chipotle but want to try something new(and don’t want to get e coli), then check out El Vez Burrito. It’s very much the similar concept of selecting the meats, cheeses, toppings and burrito type(lettuce bowl, wrap, rice bowl, etc). I love it because not only are the meats marinated in such rich flavors but there are so many options for toppings some of which are off the beaten path. Some toppings include grilled pineapples, toasted pumpkin seeds and herbed corn. Every time I have left there, I have left feeling completely satisfied. I would argue that it’s better than some of the other competing options at the World Financial Center. The only downsides are that there is usually a line(which goes fast but you’re still waiting there for about 15 – 20 minutes) and that there isn’t very much space to sit and eat at the burrito joint itself. You are forced to go across the street to WFC, outdoors or back to your desk to eat.

Had the k-town bowl and so not worth it! Save your $ 12. go to Brookfield across the street, or shake shack :) The bowl — toppings very mediocre. The experience: no explanation on which toppings I can pick from. The good — the cashier was nice?

Finally I tried this place. The door is kinda tricky. Because next door is still El Vez but its their dine in restaurant while this one is kinda like a fastfood type. I went before 12noon & no one is there. Great! I got their make your own bowl & I picked brown rice, black beans, kale, cheese, jalapeño corn & pineapple pico de galo. It has a lot of flavor. The kale & cheese taste a little salty & the pineapple pico taste sweet. Its a good combination. Compared to any other mexican fastfood this is pretty good because they have lots of option like their vegestables & sauces and a lot more. I paid about $ 10 for my bowl of food. Not bad! Good for lunch.

El Vez is a great lunch spot if you’re in battery park. I hesitate to add on the praise because it’s already really popular at lunch but hey. Its a chipotle style burrito line but with way more options. You can get the regular staples(chicken, steak, pork) but also other unique options like Korean beef that normally aren’t available at dos toros or chipotle. They key to this place is you can really get a unique, tasty burrito or bowl with some pretty interesting combinations(kale and kimchi??). Only downside is they need to work on the speed of the line. It takes about 30 – 40 minutes to get your food because of the line that forms during rush hour at lunch. Rush hour starts at 11:30 so go early. You’ll spend up to $ 15 for lunch but it’s worth it. Highly recommended, would just suggest they can improve the wait time. Don’t get lost, the entrance is between blue smoke and the main El Vez restaurant. It’s separated from the sit down area of the main El Vez.

Who wants some great burritos! I do! This burrito /burrito bowl joint is right next to the full fledge restaurant El Vez so don’t get it confused. When you get here if it is in the thick of the lunch crowd be prepared for 20 – 30 minute waits to get your beloved burrito but it is well worth it. While on the line they offer free popcorn which is a nice touch because they know it will take a long time to get your food. Once you get to the front of the line be prepared to order quick. I usually go with the Gangsta Wrap Chicken Burrito. The gangsta wrap is two tortillas and I between them is cheese. The options here are very different from your typical burrito joint with 3 options for cheese, scallions, carrots, corn chips just to name a few. Once the burrito is finished and wrapped they hand you the brick of the burrito and be prepared to eat one of the better burritos you’ve ever had and not work for the rest of the day because it will knock you out. What is also great is the location here you can opt to eat inside as there are a few tables if you’re lucky enough to grab one and there are a few tables outside during the warmer weather. I personally like walking through Brookfield place and grabbing one of the public tables overlooking the water. In short: –big delicious burritos −20−30 min waits –friendly staff — around $ 11 – 16 per burrito

This is a classier version of Chipotle(and I really love Chipotle). The line can be really long, so try to go at 11:30 or later in the afternoon. They are accommodating when it comes to mixing different protein bases, so don’t be nervous to ask. I usually get a rice bowl with half tofu and half kale and mushroom. You can then add rice, beans, cheese, and vegetables just like you would at Chipotle. In the end you can choose two specialty toppings like pineapple salsa, fritos, crunchy quinoa, or corn salsa, which make it different than Chipotle. A word to the wise, don’t get the spiciest salsa unless you want to sweat. I made the mistake of thinking it wouldn’t be spicy… never again.

This take-out offshoot of El-Vez is one of the better burrito spots in town. With Dos Toros and Choptle not far from this spot, they do an amazing job at offering a completely different menu then the other two and at about the same price point. During lunch the line here could get pretty big, so better to come here from 11 — 11:30(but please don’t so I can continue doing that lol). While waiting in line they offer complimentary popcorn which is an awesome touch. The menu here has a lot of options, some traditional and some not so. My personal favorite here is the K-Town bowl. It is basically a Korean style burrito bowl/Burrito with bulgogi beef, kimchi, lettuce, scallions, tomatoes etc and if you get no rice this is a pretty good healthy option. As a side note, they have a punch card, where every 10th meal is free, and they also have about 40 different hot sauces to choose from after you get your food. I am big fan of this spot all around, and really glad to have this in my lunch rotation.

Another tasty lunch option in the area, and better than the sit-down El Vez because it’s cheaper and more suitable for lunch. They have some pre-made burritos, but most people choose the make-your-own bowl similar to Chipotle. I like it better than Chipotle because there are healthier options and more interesting toppings, but I feel like they give you less meat than Chipotle. For meat, I like the Carne Asada. The Korean BBQ Beef is a little too sweet. For a healthier option though, I generally choose the kale and mushroom. What I like best about this new place is the toppings which you can pick 2 of. They have pumpkin seeds, kimchi, and corn chips o.O. Be careful though. Some of their toppings taste awful together. The kimchi, pico de gallo, and kale+mushroom tasted awful together. Never combine kimchi with salsa and another vegetable. If you want a small container of queso on the side, it’ll cost extra. Lines are long during standard lunch time, but after 1pm it isn’t so bad.

El Vez is a Mexican restaurant. Within the restaurant, they decided to corner off a take out section which offers bowls and burritos. My friend told me about this and being the daredevil I am, I decided to try something new. It was about 11:45 and there was quite a line on the take out line. Their menu is friendly for anyone who have a picky diet like myself. I didn’t notice any seafood at the menu. It offers a vegetarian option. I picked the vegetarian burrito. The amount of things they put in a vegetarian burrito is amazing, you get rice, tofu scramble, kale and mushrooms, salsa, quinoa, and onions. You can add guacamole for additional cost. The burrito is pretty large, they were not cheap with the ingredients, and quite flavorful. Average cost is about $ 9 — $ 10. It is really similar to Chipotle except they probably use GMOs.

This is a weirdly brilliant stand in between the sit-down part of El Vez and Blue Smoke next door. Weirdly brilliant, because it has covered all the bases when it comes to the fast casual burrito choices, and is perfect for all the nearby finance/marketing employees on the go. Carnitas, carne asada, pollo, AND Korean bulgogi? As well as a Frito Pie Burrito? That basically puts them head-to-head with Dos Toros, Chipotle, and Korilla, and El Vez Burrito more than holds its own. I’m not a fan of the actual El Vez location itself, but when the burrito bar opened up, I was intrigued. There are plenty of vegan/vegetarian options as well, and they’re all very good. Toppings like grilled scallions with lemon, and spicy kimchi definitely make for a unique, flavorful burrito. I think my favorites are the salsa roja and the corn and poblano mix. The bulgogi is very good, and the flavors are on par with Korilla, which is pretty impressive. One thing I will have to say, is that if you try to put a ton of toppings on your burrito/bowl, it tends to get messy, and weird flavors/textures can result. The service is relatively quick and friendly, although once this place gets really popular, they will need to have more than 1 register open to take payments. However, as you are waiting, they usually have a few cups of chips and salsa for you to nosh on while you wait. I’m not sure if that will be a permanent thing, but it’s a nice touch, considering most places charge extra for chips and salsa. Also, the soft serve ice cream flavors are great(horchata and chocolate), and at the price of around $ 3, it’s a pretty good value dessert, and extra toppings are only 25 cents more. Overall, I think I still prefer Dos Toros in Hudson Eats for a quick burrito lunch option in the area, since it’s a bit simpler. If you are a person who gets anxious about too many options, this might not be the place for you. However, for a more complex burrito, El Vez Burrito does a great job.

A bit hard to find, the door to this new burrito-only offshoot of the main El Vez restaurant is located somewhere in the middle of the seemingly endless restaurant that takes up most of the block. Much like Chipotle in ordering style, but much better in flavor and quality, you can choose a burrito or a bowl, and then your fillings, toppings, etc. Even better, they have s number of pre-set options, such as the excellent Frito Pie Burrito($ 9.50), with crunchy Frito chops and juicy ground beef. Other choices that also sound good include a K-Town Burrito with Korean BBQ Beef, and a Classic Mission Style one with different choices of fillings. They also have a Vegan one so those few vegetarian people on your team won’t ruin your new option for a team lunch(expect it to be packed soon with the plethora of office workers surrounding it that have gotten tired of the Hudson Eats options/crowds). It’s actually not as much of a sit-down spot, though there are a bunch of high tables to eat at, and it will likely do most business as takeout. They also have two soft serve flavors for dessert, Chocolate and Horchata, with a bunch of fun toppings like Salty Corn Flakes, Pepitas and Churro Stars. I tried the Horchata($ 2.50) with Churro Stars, and I think it might just be the best dessert option in the area now, aside from a Shake Shack concrete. I’m glad to have another good, quick lunch option in the area. I’ll be back soon to try the other burrito specials and the rotating flavors of soft serve.
