Duane Reade

It’s Duane Reade.
Nothing to get crazy about. It is quick, efficient and expensive. They do have a frequent buyers club like most other big chain drugstores, but you have to buy a king’s ransom worth of products to get $ 5 off your next order. CVS’s program is a lot better.
They have a decent cosmetics department and the pharmacist is friendly. The diaper and baby formula selection is pretty good too.
I also appreciate the Chase ATM but all Duane Reades have them.

Just purchase a gift card to Sports Authority toady. The recipient of the gift advised me that they are no longer in business and as of May 18^th they will be closing all stores. I was so embarrassed to know that Duane Reade is still selling these gift cards.
I went in and spoke with the manager named Marvin. He was not helpful he kept repeating himself saying that the gift cards are non refundable. I was not asking for a refund I just wanted to exchange it for a store that was in business and I just purchased it 4 hours prior to giving the gift.
Poor service I will be calling corporate tomorrow.

Their door says they open at 7:00am on weekdays. However, I went here last Friday and today at 7:30am, and their door was locked. Not cool.

They have everything I need! From a bottle of water on my to pick the kids up at school or a 5 hour energy on «one of those days» lol
Friendly people, barely any line, good prices.
Oh they also have snacks on the back.

Overpriced like all Duane Reades & has a mediocre pharmacy, but the staff is SO nice/​polite. I try not to shop here, but when I have to, I don’t really mind due to the staff.

worst pharmacy ever!!! Every single time I get a prescription refilled they change it somehow and try to charge me $ 500+ dollars! The people who work the cash registers never know how to answer a question and make me call my insurance company, doctors office, and then them again to tell them they are putting in the wrong freaking prescription. This is not rocket science

Oh, Duane Reade pharmacy, why do you hate me?!? I’ve been shopping at Duane Reade for 15 years, they have OK prices, good selection, convenience, and moderately rude staff. Fine. I refilled a prescription online. Went in the next day to pick it up. It wasn’t there. There was a lot of whispering in the back, 10 minutes later they came to tell me I would have to come back as they had no record of my refill and their website just doesn’t work sometimes. I came back the next day, for some inexplicable reason it still wasn’t ready and I had to wait another 20 minutes. They finally got it ready and I had another one to drop off. I handed it to the girl when she rang me up. I came back the following day and the girl at the counter had lost my prescription. The pharmacist gave me several scenarios in which I actually imagined giving them the prescription (or I was lying) and did not once consider the fact that it may actually be them that made a mistake. Exhausted, but at this point not willing to put up with anymore, I just waited until they agreed to an acceptable solution. They finally volunteered to call my Dr. and get a new prescription. I heard from them two days later and they said it was ready. We shall see. I’m not placing any large bets. These people are so disorganized it is a little disconcerting to think some people may be putting their lives in D.R.‘s hands.
