I have to say… Top choice here!!! We made reservations for 6 people and actually arrived a bit early… The amazing staff seated us right away. They were all so friendly and the waiter made some meal suggestions that were right on!!! My Salmon cam out cooked perfectly… Medium just the way I like it… Also, If you love scallops like ME. Try them because they are truly scrumptious!!! From start to finish I have to say… Don’t pass this place up!!!

Ok food needy self absorbed clientele. Kids running wild unsupervised by self absorbed parents and absentee wait staff and management. Please only go here if you are desparate or have an unruly tribe of kids and want to avoid paying the baby sitter

So terribly disappointed. Out for a nice dinner on a Saturday night. Heard the food was great but we did not expect to be distracted by spoiled kids running wild and then verbally assaulted by their defensive parents. Too bad the Maitre’D could care less. If you are from the Upper East Side maybe you’re used to this, but not us.

Missed the opportunity to enjoy what could have been a good meal. That is because when asked to keep her screaming kids under control this mother got verbally abusive. Don’t ever take a first date here too many kids and full of patrons who think they are entitled to let children run wild in public Where was management when this self entitled insensitive mother went off on us just because we asked her to control her children in a public place on a Saturday evening Disgraceful

Canyon is a go to spot and the best. Service food and warm comfortable ambiance — all wonderful. The servers and chef/manager Ruperto are so friendly. The ambiance and décor is very warm, homey and inviting. The food is excellent. They have a happy hour with flavored margaritas and various dishes including my favorite –an incredible seafood burrito mmmm. Their guacamole is among my favorites, and they also make fantastic fajitas. They also make my Mezcel margaritas amazingly well and a fab skinny margarita. I’ve brought everyone from family, friends, out of town guests, dates… Even a group of marathon runners from PA after the NYC marathon. And everyone has always loved the atmosphere and food. You feel comfortable and at home whether in the front bar area or the restaurant dining area. Their Margaritas have a special something that bring out the best conversations and the best chill times here: D Highly recommend. This is thee goto Mexican spot Ues.

Love this place! Free(and delicious) chips and salsa and also great margaritas! I had the fried chimichangas and I would totally eat that again in a heart beat! Also had the steak fajitas another time and they were also sooo good! One of my favorite Mexican places in the ues!

Canyon Road, Take me home, to the place, I belong… Canyon Road is one of those local places that just never lets you down. I can’t count how many times I have eaten here and yet, it’s always one of those places that gets forgotten about when that old«what do you wanna eat?» Convo starts up with my Fiancée and I. Well, now it won’t. Because we both agreed to add it to our«regular» list of places on the UES on which will shall eat at /order in from on a regular basis. Now that the prelude is done, on to what to eat at Canyon Road. For Apps: Do yourself a favor and try to avoid the very pricey($ 15.00) table side Guacamole. While it is pretty good guac, i can’t justify the price tag of $ 15.00 being worth it. Instead, order the Goat Cheese and Poblano Chile Quesadilla. It comes with a side of Sour Cream and Guac. Ask your server for extra Guac for the chips! The quesadilla is extremely tasty and that goat cheese gives it an added rich, creamy flavor. If you’re in the mood for a salad, the Salpicon salad is simple, but one of the more refreshing salad you will ever eat. It’s actually the perfect palate cleanser for the next course. Mains: Ok. Since my forte is ordering food, I highly suggest you order this: The Shrimp and Swordfish Fajitas with Whole Wheat tortillas. It is easily one of the BEST dishes in this city, I shit you not. The shrimp are HUGE and perfectly cooked, and they do not skimp out on them. The swordfish is prefectly grilled and not too fishy and adds the perfect match to compliment the shrimp as well as those yummy grilled veggies that are caramelizing on that sizzling fajita plate. You may have to ask your server about the Swordfish. After a recent visit, it wasn’t on the menu, but upon asking, they were able to add it. GETTHISDISH. PLEASE. I BEGOFYOU. It’s the best fajita you will ever have. The only other thing i have eaten at this restaurant as far as Entrée’s are concerned is the Spinach, Goat Cheese, Mixed Peppers & Mushroom Enchilada. It’s quite delicious in it’s own rights, but when I come to Canyon Road, I come for the Shrimp and swordfish Fajitas. In fact, other people I’ve dined with here have eaten both the steak and the chicken fajitas and agreed that they are some of the best Fajitas around. Can’t go wrong with them! Oh, the Margs are killer and quite strong. They also have a huge variety of them as well. Don’t be that person and order something else. Take my advice, eat it, then message me and tell me I’m wrong. Please. I dare ya. NOTETOREADER: This review as well as many others I write are based on what this restaurant does BEST. The review is only based on a few dishes, and i rarely will make note of the service, unless it is exceptional or exceptionally bad. Trust my advice on these dishes, and your dining experience at the restaurants I review will be THAT much more enjoyable.

Big fan of this place. Big margaritas that isn’t just bullshit syrup tequila and ice. The food is great too. Duck burrito is good I’m just personally not a fan of mole sauce. Chimichangas are dynamite and the fajitas are delicious. Also, free chips and salsa which is a fantastic addition to your margarita. If im not eating fried tortilla chips drowning in salsa while guzzling a jumbo margarita am I really enjoying life? Absolutely not.

My friend Neetie and I had such an amazing time last night. We started out with the guacamole in a huge pumice stone that was made table side! We got to choose the level of spice and our waiter Alejandro was a true master!!! It was so delicious. I am from Texas and quite a guacamole snob. He truly rocked it! We followed with steak and shrimp fajitas!!! So incredible. The chef is fabulous. The marinade on the steak was perfect and the meat was tender and delicious. Of course we had margaritas!!! I have to say that we had The Original margarita and it was strong and delightful! We could only drink 2 each because otherwise we were going to die! We finished up our meal with the warm chocolate cake with a melted center and rolled out of there grateful to Alejandro, the chef, the bartender and Vanessa for an incredible experience!!!

One of the best Mexican Restaurants that I have been to in NY. I think the people that rate it poorly probably drank too many Margarita’s And the people that thought it was too pricy think Taco Bell is heaven I will be back

I went with a bunch of teachers last monday and we had such a great time at the bar. We intended to have dinner in the dining room but we enjoyed happy hour at the bar and simply could not leave the fabulous bartender Joleen. She was lively and engaging. Our drinks were amazing and she recommended some crazy yummy guacamole in a big volcano rock! Loved it! The food here is really great. Duck quesadilla and Arroz con pollo were the hits. Oh yes and Joleen she was a hit too! Okay…1st time here and I intend to return soon.

We were really in the mood for some good, not-too-overly priced Mexican food and stumbled upon this place on Unilocal. We were given a table for two inside the dining room, which was actually quite large and nicely decorated without being over the top. The lights strung overhead were a nice intimate touch, as were the white table cloths on the tables. Chips and salsa arrived immediately and they were amazing. Crazy good smooth salsa and chips that weren’t overly greasy. They even brought out another batch without asking. As for drinks, the $ 11 house margarita was served in a large goblet style wine glass. Strong and not too sweet. The drink menu looked decent, but I’m always a sucker for the house cocktails. For food, the duck breast burrito was everything I wanted and more. A pretty large portion stuffed full of tender duck breast, topped with a dark and delicious mole sauce and served with rice and guacamole. Amazing and a great deal. Chicken fajitas were also top notch — served sizzling with plenty of onions and peppers. The service was quick and efficient, although I did feel at times they were a bit on top of us. Not in a rude way, but just in an overly helpful way. Overall, a great, better-than-most Mexican place on the UES. Will definitely be coming back.

I wanted to eat at a Tex-Mex restaurant for my birthday and we selected this one after thorough research. It was an OK but respectable experience. The salsa which comes with the chips at the beginning of the meal seemed flat that i had to put some hot sauce in it to make it tangy. The duck burrito everyone seems to rave about it is actually subpar. I did not even finish it. The ambiance was nice and what I would like to call«semi-romantic». The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the food. The manager was very cordial and welcoming. They even surprised me by singing Happy Birthday after I have ordered a Chocolate Soufflé with Ice Cream which was yummy. In a nutshell, my experience here was good but not great. I have eaten better Mexican food.

Kind of pricey for the quality of the food, but it’s so close to me that I can’t help myself sometimes. It is still better than going to Blockheads. You can sit down, and the drinks are pretty good. My favorite thing is the grilled shrimp appetizer. The shrimp is always cooked perfectly! I wasn’t a fan of the duck burrito. The mole sauce was way too sweet for my liking. The fajitas are decent, but very overpriced. I had some food delivered last night, and the leftover guacamole(it was $ 8.75) turned brown in like two hours. Uh… Isn’t lime/lemon juice an essential in guac? Yeah, it is. Tsk tsk. There are TV’s set up behind the bars that often play sports, so yeah. Canyon Road is like the so-so Mexican place in your neighborhood you go to when you’re too lazy to go anywhere else. It’s not a bad thing, that’s just how it is. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if it’s out of the way.

I would give Canyon Road 3.5 stars if possible. The ambiance is great and really does feel evoke the feel of Santa Fe. However, not much else about this place is New Mexican. For example, there is not a single dish with Christmas sauce(a mix of red and green chile sauce), or any chile sauce at all. However, while the place may not feel authentic to a native Santa Fean, it is quite good. I had the chicken enchiladas with ranchero sauce. The chicken was nicely cooked and I enjoyed the sauce. The black beans were nicely done, but I thought the rice was a bit too bland. My wife had the duck quesadilla which was really good. The margaritas are nicely priced and strong. We both had the cactus pear margarita and thought it was very good.

I love this place! The ambience and staff is super nice. The dishes are incredible but I have to say that I always order the same. The shrimp appetizer that is as generous as any entrée. Get it! It’s delicious, it comes with plantains, mango, peanuts, amazing flavor. Then the fajitas are a must. Meat, vegetable or shrimp out doesn’t matter. From the tortillas to the guacamole everything is great. When I crave Mexican I go to Canyon Road

Came in here on a Saturday afternoon answering the call for a margarita. It was completely empty minus a couple people sitting at the bar but clearly this place has not yet been discovered because it was so so good. I had a couple spicy jalapeño margaritas which were so fresh and delicious. They make the guacamole at the table to taste and it was so good and the serving size was generous. Finally got the steak fajitas and they were sizzling to perfection and big enough to share for two. I will definitely be back!

This place was great, and it’s a cute spot for a night out for two. I was at first cautious and almost didn’t go because of the 3 star reviews, but this place deserves much more credit. The tacos, cocktails or sangria are must haves. I tried the fajitas and they were great too! The service was phenomenal, the ambiance was quiet with dimly lit tables. I had a great experience and will certainly be back fo’ mo’.
