After having dinner at Pappardella, Howie R. insisted on a nightcap at a fun little dive bar. This dive bar is around the corner from where we were up a short flight of stairs. I walked into what was obviously a low-key but fun atmosphere. Each table was spaced out nicely and had a bowl of assorted candy(mostly chocolate). There were games in the corner of the bar and a few came in doubles presumably to avoid conflicts in who saw what board game first and wanted to play it. The crowd seemed tamed and consisted of 20-somethings huddled with their friends catching up or seriously focusing on Life. Although the bar is one fairly decent sized space, they were clever to use a large fish tank to create a «back of the bar» area. The bar itself looked fully stocked and I noticed the bar tender make sure that at least one of the TVs accommodated what someone already sitting at the bar wanted to see. We were here on a Thursday night sometime after 9:30pm and although the noise level was decent, the tables were nearly filled up. If I’m in the area and want to have a casual night with some games and a drink, I think I’ll probably pop by again!

I mean its a bar in «the neighborhood» in NYC. its fine.they have games!!! and they had leftover halloween candy for snacks at the bar(instead of a nut mix!), which was a WINNER! My bf was showing me his old neighborhood«haunts»…it was fine, but again, when i go back to NYC, i’m not going to go out of my way to have a drink here, however, IF i lived in the neighborhood, sure I’d hang out here every once in a while! :)

Nice, albeit small, selection of beer. But you can find something to like. BYOF allowed. Board games available. Not too loud if you want to talk. Great happy hour deals(pint of a draft for $ 5) Staff very friendly and nice.

Nice little local bar on the Upper West Side, where I stayed for 3 weeks. The personnel is kind and the customers consist of a blend of local regulars and the occasional walk-inners(like me in the beginning). They’ve got an ok selection of beer on draft(and I only say ‘ok’ because of the many Brooklyn bars with fantastic local microbrewery beers :-)) So come round and have a beer with us! Ps. They have an aquarium.

As you’d guess from the name, it’s a dive bar. But a pretty excellent one. Great beer selection(although I’ve gone a couple of times and they’re out of a number of things… not sure what’s up with that, but they need to figure stuff out with their distributor). They don’t serve food, but they let you bring food in, and they usually have candy at the bar which is always nice. I usually go during the weekday happy hour, and the bartender at that time is SUPER nice. Happy hour deal is fine… I think it’s a dollar or two off of their drafts, so they end up being around $ 5 or $ 6. Pretty standard I feel like. Levels of crowded-ness totally range from almost no one in the place to standing room only. Definitely better the earlier you get in. Overall, it’s a pretty good place to meet up with friends and grab a few drinks. Nothing special, but sometimes all you need is a normal dive bar.

I came here after work race(Jp Morgan corporate challenge) when we got to the door, bouncer said we could not go in as it was at capacity. Half of my coworkers were already inside so we emphasized how it was a work event and he finally let us in. Once we got in, they have a full bar but no food! The bartender told us we can bring our own food in. They had a mix of nice beers on tap and not a various wine selection. Place is good to go for beginning of night or happy hour but not somewhere you plan to go for appetizers, food or a night out.

This is a pretty chill bar. It has a lot of board games to play but 90 percent of them are missing the pieces to play. The only game you can play is pretty much connect four. Other than that it was a nice bar to relax and chill at

Great place for dates! They have a bunch of TV with sports, typically baseball, and board games which is awesome. I went with a date a played connect four and a few different card games for a few hours and didn’t realize how quick time flew by. They have a pretty solid selection of beers as well and I would recommend this place for any chill/low key night.

This place plays Cardinal baseball games. Come here Cards fans and support Dive 75! A decent selection of beer, too.

Wanted to hit a dive bar while on vacation to NY and this place lived up to its name. Small but cozy. The bouncer moved some stuff to give my girlfriend and I some room which was super cool. The crowd was awesome and was just what I was looking for. Dive bar at its finest.

Your typical dive bar with some board games, free chocolates, and juke boxes. They have a few tvs for those who like to watch sports. Try if you’re in the neighborhood, dont go out of your way.

Dive 75 is the quintessential neighborhood bar. They have great beers listed visibly throughout the bar, tvs for game watching, board games to play with friends, and of course, candy to nosh on. I found the beer list here to be refreshing, with a huge variety of drafts and bottles and bartenders that are able to help provide a recommendation if you’re stuck or looking to try something new. The prices are right in line with expectations, and you never get the feeling someone is trying to rip you off. I’ve been in at a range of times from the early afternoon slot for a game to the late night pitstop before heading home and I’ve always found the people here to be friendly and open. Also, unlike other bars that have board games, there’s plenty to go around and they all seem to have the right pieces to play. Next time I’m in the area, I can’t wait to swing by again and see what beers and candy they have on tap that day.

This is a great spot for drinks before a show at the Beacon. They have a good happy hour, electrical outlets under the bar for charging your phone, and board games(Connect Four!). They don’t serve food but they have take-out menus or if you’re as lucky* as I am, you can send your husband out to bring back Shake Shack for you and eat at the bar while everyone eyes you jealously. My only complaint is that even on an extremely busy Halloween Friday, there was only one bartender and he was apparently too overwhelmed to acknowledge us, even while he served a girl who just walked up when we’d been waiting patiently for 10 minutes, so we were unable to get a second drink. *needy and persuasive

Prepare to be harassed and berated. I suggested to friends that we stop by last night — Sunday November 3rd — as I’ve been to this bar often over the years and always had a great time. I ordered us 3 beers. Then we sat at the bar. Immediately we were approached by a man(still not sure who he was, the Bouncer?) who told us we needed to move because there were people sitting there who were outside smoking. My out of town friend said she’d been told by the guys we could sit there. So, we stayed until the same man came back and aggressively told us to move again. Shouted at us actually. Yes. The bouncer shouted at us to move out of seats that we’d have gladly moved from if the men sitting there had just said, «Hey, we were sitting there.» So, we moved. We sat at some stools nearby but right away the bouncer came back and told us to move again. Apparently the stools we sat in were not where he wanted them to be. He was standing over us and was extremely aggressive. No exaggeration, he was in our face shouting«Get up and MOVE.» At this point I’m frustrated. Why were we being singled out? Why were we being attacked and asked to move twice in less than 5 minutes? Why are we being harassed at a bar in the first place? Meanwhile, the men who’s seats we’d made the mistake of sitting in were loving this. They were clapping and shouting at us as well. The bouncer was egging them on and they were encouraging him to keep shouting at us. So, I said«What the fuck? We’re just sitting here.» The bouncer then shouted«DON’T FUCKINGCURSE. YOUCAN’T FUCKINGCURSEINHERE.» Apparently this is a bar with language restrictions. And seating rules. So, he continued to stand over me and scream in my face. My friends were obviously uncomfortable and when I looked back to tell them that everything would be ok the bouncer grabbed my drink from behind my back and told me to leave. So, I asked the man who he’d pointed out as the manager why that happened and he just looked at me like he didn’t care at all. Like screaming at customers who had the audacity to Sit Down was normal at Dive 75. So, I got up and walked around to speak to the manager. He acted like whatever the bouncer wanted, the bouncer got. All I wanted was my drink back and he said no. I went to walk back over to my friends and was told I couldn’t even walk back over to them. The bouncer was blocking my way, so I left. The assumption reading this is that I was belligerent and out of line. The truth is that we had just come from the Museum of Natural History and I was headed to the theatre in an hour. And I made it to the play. I was completely in control. I know how to behave at a bar. What I don’t know how to do is react when being verbally attacked by someone who seemed set out to humiliate and berate us from the minute we walked in. When I asked the manager(assuming he was the manager) that all I wanted was my drink back and he said no — I told him that I would write a review on Unilocal.Which I have done maybe once before. He didn’t seem to care at all. And even though I hate being a person who has to sit here and write this, apparently it’s the only way to be heard. BEWAREIFTHISISTHESTAFFTHATTHEYHIRE. One of the few remaining true neighborhood … «just a bar» places. No pretention, obnoxious sports fans, tourists, or brunch girls. BUT … and correct me if I’m wrong … your«pint» glasses are not actually a pint anymore. Me things they’re a little light. Did the shrink ray get to your barware?

I like this place best for afternoon drinks and friendly sessions with board games. The vibe here can be unwelcoming on some nights, but that could be just me. Overall, it’s a cool spot for the hood and an easy option when showing out-of-town guest this part of the city.

One of my favorite local bars! I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always great. The bartender, Steve, runs a very solid and very dependable bar. His focus on getting you the right drink is impeccable. He’s always friendly and whenever he’s there I always get a warm greeting, feels like coming home! Zeus is also great, he lent me the flashlight to fish my ID out of my handbag once, which was very much appreciated. The bowls of candy are always a plus, as are the board games. There’s a game of Jenga that has some fantastic and hysterical suggestions on each block, always fun to play when bringing friends to the bar. The beer menu is always different and varied, and you can sample whatever you’d like. But with an accurate enough description of what you’re looking for, Steve gets its correct right off the bat. Also how can you say no to the black catfish that swims upside down in the fish tank?
