Copper Door is Out of Business. They did have good burgers though…

Good happy hour special. The burgers are grassy. The only thing that sucks was no AC in the place when i was there in the singer and if you air in the back, its worse. But if definitely good back for drinks and food.

I love this place! Monday nites $ 1.00 mugs of beer! Or 5 cans of rolling rock in a bucket of ice for $ 10.00! No place else like it! The burgers are good! The crowd is cool! Worth it to stop by.

Big Buck Hunter, ample televisions, pretty good drink selection, in my neighbor, friendly bartender, what more could you ask for? This is definitely a good spot for some weeknight activity if you live in the area. We find ourselves here often as a close out the night option(it could be 10pm, it could be 2am…). This is definitely a neighbor/locals type bar. I haven’t been during a football game, but I can imagine it gets a little cray…

Why isn’t anyone writing about the $ 15 bottomless wine on Wednesdays? Seriously, why is no one talking about that?! Anyway, it’s a pretty good deal and the very friendly bartender was on top of keeping our glasses full at all times. Surprisingly, there weren’t that many people here and most of those who were weren’t taking advantage of the deal. Copper Door, y’all need to get on top of your advertising game. On other nights of the week, they have a lot of cheap beer specials, including $ 1 beers.

Allow me to go on the record and state that there is NO copper door. That aside its a pretty good place for football Sunday. Great wings, perfect waffle fries, hustling service, big buck hunter etc… TIP — extra spicy buffalo wings dipped in hummus is seriously delicious.

I have friends at Baruch who are fond of this place so I decided to give it a try. They had a burger and beer special which is another reason to have stepped in. We enter and I was not impressed. It took the grungy look a little too far. Our waitress was nice and the large sports TV was a high point but there drinks were nothing specials, the burgers were okay. However, I should have taken their okay hamburgers over the veggie burger I decided to try out. This is one place where being adventurous did not work to my advantage. It was almost as if it was composed of cabbage gone bad. It had a strong sense of vinegar — like the pungent taste of fermentation found in kimchi. On top of that it was burnt — so were the fries that came with the meal. I left disappointed and then got angry as I had a long ride home with an upset stomach… Never again… NOTE: Use of credits cards requires a $ 10 spending limit. Just something to be aware of when you go in for just a meal or a drink.

My friend loves this bar, so whenever we happen to be in the area, I find myself goaded into coming here. I am usually underwhelmed by the mildly dirty environment and mediocre drink specials. I never found anything special about the place, but no reason to hate it either… until I came here for my friends graduation party. I opened a tab by buying a pitcher of beer for my friends, then returned to get a cranberry vodka for myself. It wasn’t until the third time I went to purchase a drink that the bartender informed me that not only did he not have my debit card, he claimed to never have a record of me opening a tab in the first place. Needless to say I was very upset, as I was going on a trip internationally in the next couple of days and needed access to my bank account. When I asked him how it was possible that he let me purchase drinks three separate times despite not having my credit card, he became unpleasant and completely unhelpful. He was very unapologetic and rude, and insisted that I was mistaken about opening a tab despite my also sober boyfriend witnessing it. I will never come back here, although I do owe them for teaching me the valuable lesson to open a tab with a credit card and not a debit card. Save your money and go to one of the better bars on Third Avenue.

My boys love this bar. They’ve made this their watering hole & bring us for their birthdays. There aren’t too many kids that come here on a Saturday. We had the place packed with our friends when my friend hosted his party here. Maybe 3 people in the place didn’t know Z. Rhett took good care of us & $ 3miller lite all night-why not? Don’t forget Big Bucks Deer Hunter. Guaranteed fabulous time

I never actually plan on going to Copper Door but I’ve found myself there a couple of times now. It’s a remarkably unremarkable bar. An enormous projector looms over the back of the joint and ample tv sets peer out from most corners, which I guess I should be expected from a sports bar. A little over done in my opinion. Other than abounding tv screens, the place was pretty forgettable. It’s not even divey the way a sports bar ought to be. The drinks are cheap enough if you stick to pitchers of miller lite. And the food is passable, but I wouldn’t say more than that. The last time I was there the bar tender lost my friend’s credit card when she opened her tab and failed to mention it’s disappearance until she ordered her third drink. Far from being sympathetic, or even apologizing, he tried to brush us off with free drinks. He was rude, dismissive, and generally unpleasant. The loss of the card reconfirmed my opinion of this generally mediocre bar.

During my college days, Copper Door Tavern was one of my favorite bars to hit up during the week. This lovely little bar had one of the best specials I had come across during my tenure at Baruch; Two for One Tuesdays! Until 9pm on Tuesdays, they offered two for one burgers(for the record: I’m not sure if they are still doing it), and their burgers were amazing! While this was an amazing deal for a student on a budget, I’d still love to take advantage of it if I was around CDT. Their bacon was crispy, the patty was flavorful and juicy, and their fries were great. Trust me, if it hasn’t changed much, you won’t regret it.

Wonderful bar! They have about 8 or so beers on tap and great happy hour specials. Where else in NYC can you find pints of IPA(and anything else on tap) for 3 $ until 8pm? I’d like to know, until then you can find me teetering on the stool at this warm inviting bar. It is not my neighborhood, so everybody may not«know my name» but given time I am sure they will! They also have 5 $ margaritas /martinis, how can you go wrong? Close enough to walk from Union Square or the L/3rd Ave stop, or you could hop on the 456 to 28 st. See you soon, Copper Door Tavern.

Even though this place is right near my apartment, I’ve walked by it dozens of times and never gone in. We came here last night for a college alumni event, and I wasn’t too impressed. Sure, it’s a bar with drinks, which works if you’re just looking for a convenient happy hour spot. But there’s nothing really nice about the bar. The prices were fine for happy hour, but the bar itself was pretty dirty. Also, it looked like for most of the time there was only one bartender, even though it was packed and prime happy hour time. I had to wait a really long time to get her attention just to close my tab, because she wasn’t really watching the whole bar — instead, she was mostly at one end of it. But there was some space in the back with tables, which made it more acceptable for talking and catching up with friends. I’ll skip this place next time, and walk a little further to get better service.

what i ate– nothing for those of you who follow my reviews, you’ll know i always start with what i ate(hence the intro above). i came here on sunday to meet up with my girlfriends after one of them did a triathalon earlier in the day. i’ll admit up front that my low score is that my expectations were waaaaay off for what our sunday get together was going to be. all i knew was that it was supposed to involve brunch, drinking, and some sunday nfl football(3 of my favorite things ever). and something that my group of girlfriends does frequently and well. maybe we were just out of practice for nfl season or maybe because it was the season opener things were crazier than usual. regardless, i was not down for this. i got there around 2 pm. it was a complete $hit show. it was so crowded i could barely get in the door. it took me 10 minutes to get through the crowd to find my girls at our reserved table(which was completely and closely surrounded by all the other people trying to fit somewhere in the place). by the time i got to the table i had already decided there was no way i would be eating anything at this joint(maybe if it was 2 am and not 2 pm, but the 2 pm me was thinking not gonna happen). most of the group ordered food and picked their way through while alternating between beer, mimosas, and bloody mary’s. i stayed for a bit and then left to get some real food and watch football somewhere that i could actually see the games. probably a good spot for a bunch of bros to go and get rowdy on a sunday morning.

A typical neighborhood bar. It’s a bit dark in there and on sat night it can get super crowded and loud. There are plenty of tvs for sports fans and your standard pub menu. So, what makes this average bar stand out? Super friendly staff(esp Erica and Chris) and they have Strongbow cider on tap!(I know of only one other bar in Manhattan that has it). So it gets an extra star for that :) The prices are also very reasonable(yea, drink specials!) And, yes, stay away from the water(it tastes funny) but, oddly enough, the ice tastes just fine.

You’re on 3rd Ave and you see a bright shiny metal door, that’s the copper door. This is a large bar a couple blocks south of 23rd St. A Fairly standard NYC watering hole, standard beer selection and they do serve pitchers. They offer a house brew which more than adequate. This place comes alive for sporting events especially football when they drop the 12′ HD screen, this place is large and good for groups and holds a crowd fairly well. Food is standard pub fare, with waffle fries excellent pairing with the buffalo wings. It may not be the greatest but I have found myself drinking here on more than a few occasions. Things I like: Giant Enormous TV, pitchers of beer, wings Things I don’t like: It’s not that I dislike anything as it just is an ok place made better by your friends.

There were no seats at the Hairy Monk but I wasn’t dissapointed with this fall back bar. Lots of TVs, people, music, bar things. After being stuck in traffic(thank you for closing down the queens boro bridge and making the city a nightmare dark night film) for nearly 2 hours, I needed a drink! A friendly bartender and a heavy pour made my stress melt away. I ordered a house salad and it came out fairly quick with the wrap and waffle fries my friend ordered. The salad was huge. I barely put a dent in it. I love my lettuce and cucumbers and they were both fresh, the tomatoes weren’t mushey and the onions were crisp. The wrap must’ve been good, it dissapeared fast. A typical nieghborhood bar worth stopping in at.

3 stars? I wonder if people who’ve rated this place poorly have ever eaten here — probably not. I cant believe I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 2+ years and have never been to Copper Door Tavern until this week. The burgers and waffle fries are DELICIOUS, better than most to all of the surrounding diners, restaurants and chains. And then what makes it even greater is that on Tuesdays there is a 2 for the price of 1 cheeseburger deal. So you spend $ 11⁄13 for 2 giant cheeseburgers and waffle fries. You will leave stuffed to perfection or with leftovers. I definitely be returning to Cooper Door Tavern, and bring some friends but not too many people because I wouldn’t want to ruin the fact that the place had the perfect amount of people inside.

I don’t get why there is REALLYREALLY loud music playing when everyone in the bar is watching the Maryland basketball game. Not just the patrons, but even the people working the bar. Made absolutely no sense. The food was ok. Ok in that it was warm. I’d come back… maybe. By maybe I mean if all the other cheesy third avenue murray hill bars suddenly sank.

I went to one of their«game watch» nights, and since I went with a group, we got wristbands for happy hour specials all night. So my review may be a little different than others. As far as the beer selection, it’s okay. I stuck with whatever was on tap, and their happy hour specials were decent. I’m so used to paying more than that after 7PM that a $ 3 pint of Sam Adams was pretty good. They also had $ 5 martinis and margaritas, of which I had the latter and it was tasty. The wait staff? Eh, subpar. I was sitting at the bar and when we made eye contact with the bartender, he came over to let us know the specials. It felt like it took forever to get him back to actually order our drinks. For the game watch, they put all of the TVs on that particular game so you can cheer on your alma mater. However, by the time they actually changed the channels, several minutes of the game had already passed. Overall, the drink specials were good but not good enough to get me that far out of my way on a regular happy-hour-seeking Friday night.
