This place closed. It is now The Recovery Room and is much better than Citibar.

Or at least it was. Now under new managment and newly Titles«The Recovery Room» It offers the same audiovisual amenities sub some killer new specials(daily) and hours(until 4am) nightly. This is still my favorite local hangou. t and i will continue o use this place like my living room. Ownership changed first week of October which leads me to believe the«avoid» review on the 20th was errant. Either way, check it out when you’re around. Make up our own mind or make Suggestion to the new establishment while changes are in progress.

Citibar is my favorite local hangout. I live in the neighborhood and stop in at least once or twice a week. Whether it’s for a few drinks or a quick bite to eat, or even just to say hi to the bartender/manager, I’m always up for going there. Yes, it is quite dark but it’s never bothered me. It’s a great place to go with a friend or two, have a few drinks and conversation while watching whichever sports games are on. My favorite thing about Citibar is that there’s always a spot at the bar. Overall the staff is great, the food is good and it’s a great place to go if you’re in the neighborhood and you want to grab a drink.

Wings are small and overcooked — basically just a bone with crunchy skin. *** Be prepared to spend $ 1.50 on extra blue cheese sauce… yes, 2 oz. of extra sauce costs $ 1.50 — at that rate a bottle of salad dressing you buy in the grocery store would be $ 15.00 and I am sure they are buying it in bulk. I am figuring they make over 150% profit on selling extra sauces. Clearly they are NOT interested in keeping their customers coming back. Specials are nonexistent. Owner is rude. Bartenders are OK, but I have a feeling they are under a careful eye of the cheap owner.

Dark, quiet(comparative to many other bars in the area), somewhat sparse = exactly how I like it. Friendly bartenders, chill atmosphere, good stuff on TV — from sports to Family guy — and, oh, what’s this? You can have a conversation and HEAR the person you are with? The wonder of it all. Doesn’t have character in the same way that places downtown do, but a definite step up from the UES yuppie frat scene most bars are overwhelmed with.

Sports bar. We popped in on a stroll through the area — it looked grungy from the outside but wasn’t as grungy once inside. The place was absolutely dead– a bored bartender and maybe 4 dudes swilling beers. Plenty of screens around the place to catch whatever game floats your boat — I’m guessing the place is maybe busy for football? Bathrooms were clean and of good size.

One star for really great bartenders/staff, one star for sometimes having good promotionals. And by sometimes I mean, twice that I know of. Citibar just screams«total dive bar» from the outside — the dingy exterior certainly doesn’t help to attract outsiders. As I walk by it daily, I notice that Citibar does attract a good number of people, usually when sports games are on. And for good reason, I suppose. There are a ton of shiny new flat screen tv’s adorning the walls. Also, you can play pool(when the table is free). Pretty good happy hour, but nothing you wouldn’t be able to find at any other bar in the area. The food is typical American fare — some seafood, burgers(pretty good), appetizers like nachos and mozzarella sticks. Although the inside has a lot of potential with all of the amenities, it is always so DARK!!! It would have a much more welcoming feel to it with some more lights!

Citibar is a solid bar on the UES. I’m a fan opf bars that are not totally overrun with the frat/douchebag crowd and this bar fit that bill just fine. They have about 10 – 12 beers on tap and a generic bar menu with some surprises like Yuca Fries(delicious) and Lobster Ravioli(haven’t tried). Also, they have a poker game 2x a week on Mondays and Thursdays at 8pm(I think). It’s not for money because that’s illegal, but it’s for prizes and just a good time if you want to play some cards with a couple of friends and strangers.
