Do not ever go to this damn place! I went and brought the restroom for emergency, and they don’t let me use unless I promise to buy things in the restaurant. When I see the menu and my friend asked to buy a bottle water. Guess how much is the bottle water cost?(Is only the small one) it costed me $ 2.18 ! Wtf…

*** DONOTORDERFROMTHISPLACE !!! **** I ordered two dishes from the lunch special menu and one of them was wrong. I ordered an eggplant with garlic sauce and a moo goo gai pan. The delivery man complained to me that the $ 1 tip I gave him was really good. He was a real sarcastic punk-ass Chinaman. Nasty! My co-worker told me that her moo goo gai pan was something completely different. It turned out to be some soft tofu casserole. She actually liked it. I was really pissed off at the service so I called China Village again to have the correct dish be delivered. The same Chinaman delivery guy met me at the lobby with his headphones plugged in. He provided no «Thank you» or any manners of courtesy. My co-worker finally got her moo goo gai pan and a free dish. If you want lousy service and food you can always count on China Village.

Not the best Chinese I’ve had, but then we did order from the $ 7 menu. Hot & sour soup was just average and the other dishes so so. Most of our orders were from the westernized menu so can’t comment on the authentic Chinese dishes. The Tsing Tao beer was as good as it always is! Plenty of other choices IN Chinatown next time.

This is the WORST place my wife and I could have stopped for food in Chinatown. The food was previously frozen and tasteless. The service ignored us for over 30 minutes while we sat with our plates at the other side of the table without touching them.(out of disgust and frustration). We decided to start waking out to see if they would even notice us leaving — well that got their attention, the entire staff’s attention, including one of the greasy unkept cooks. They called the police when we refuse to pay for what we where served and barely touched. I suggested they re-use it for another meal, freeze it and refry it as I suspect they did with ours. The female manager was yelling and scowling at us without any attempt to understand our displeasure in their food, it was clear it was all about the money. Avoid this place like the plague… Way to ruin our last lunch in NY. Slimy greasy people…

Wtf is all I can say. … Tyson ready meal quality food and terrible service. Waited half an hour for someone to correct their mistake and was totally ignored. Picked up and left out of frustration for their entire staff to finally decide to pay attention.

This small restaurant right off Canal St is a hidden gem. You are transported to the past as soon as you walk in. The décor is the same as it has been since probably 1970. But that’s ok because the prices, overall quality of the food and quickness of service make up for it. This is not a fancy place. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The soups were excellent. Hot and sour soup — good flavor, not just spicy. Daily soup vegetable soup — flavorful broth and right amount of vegetables. House special pan fried noodles — delicious. Good flavor, definitely a memorable dish. Lemon chicken — quite disappointing. Very bland. Chicken not cooked well. Lemon sauce too thin and no flavor. I would not order this again. Overall good experience and good food at a very reasonable price.

Lapin and I were in the area and we were looking for a good place to eat. We passed by here and they advertised a dinner special of a soup and entrée for under $ 20(I forgot the exact amount). The restaurant had many 7 other customers in it. We were seated rather quickly and gotten menus except they didn’t give us the menu with the special until we asked for it. I ordered the egg drop soup and Lapin got the wonton soup. The soups came out rather quickly and hot. I assume it’s because they made a lot and kept it warmed until needed. Lapin got the General Tso chicken with plain fried rice(the rice was an extra $ 2-$ 4) which looked tasty. He said it was okay. I ordered the chicken and broccoli with white rice. The taste was just off. The smell was atrocious and it didn’t look fresh. After 4 bites(I was super hungry and tried putting hot sauce to make it tolerable), I couldn’t take it anymore and just left my plate. The waiters were not friendly or attentive. No one came to refill water, asked how the meal was, and they kept bringing us the wrong entrees and other people’s food. Lapin was still eating when they bought the check. They didn’t even wait 2 seconds after he placed his credit card down before they snatched up and went to charge it. There are plenty of other tasty places in Chinatown, stay away from this one.

Waited all day for some good Chinese food in Chinatown. Ordered the spicy orange chicken and crab Rangoon. Yuck. The chicken was overlooked and there was nothing spicy about it. I took 2 bites. And sent it back. The crab Rangoon may have been frozen then deep fried. Gross. I will not be coming back.

«I’ve never had such terrible Chinese food before!» My friend spat-out a mouth-full of gristle which was supposed to be chicken breast, and groaned in disgust at the appallingly snot-like texture of his soup. And this was our second attempt at China Village, which in hindsight, really was a mistake. I believe whole-heartedly in second-chances, but everything I’ve tried here is completely flavorless to say the least, and absolutely unappetizing to be polite.

Our favorite NYC Chinatown meal — kind & efficient staff, fresh ingredients, peaceful location just away from the hubbub of Canal Street — we try to come every time we’re in the city. The Crab Rangoons, shrimp dumplings, and egg drop soup will bring you back!

We were in New York for our honeymoon, and looked forward to an authentic Chinese lunch in Chinatown. This fit the bill. Hands down, this is the best Chinese food we have ever had! We ordered several sides/starters and two entrees, and shared everything. We were stuffed before long! We were also pleasantly surprised by the price.

I came in here with a group of friends for dinner and was amazed at how quickly we were served even though it was busy. The waiter who served us was courteous and diligent as he gave us recommendations, took our orders, and served us. I ordered the salad jumbo shrimp with walnut and buddha’s delight with soybean noodles. The salad jumbo shrimp was easily my favorite dish of the night! I’m having cravings for it right now as I type this review. The buddha’s delight had a generous portion of vegetables and is a great option for vegetarians or people trying to watch their diet. All in all, my visit here was a great experience-the food was delicious, the service was fast and the prices were reasonable. I would come here again!

Located just off the main Chinatown streets, Chinatown Village Restaurant offers an escape from the hustle and bustle. It’s a small family-run restaurant and they have diligent, friendly service. Their food is cooked with fresh, great-quality ingredients and the portions are generous. They offer a mix of authentic Chinese food and more American-friendly options. One of the restaurant’s hallmarks is their super affordable lunch special. I came here with some friends during a lunch hour on a weekday and the restaurant was pretty crowded with a variety of clientele. The four of us ordered a variety of items off the menu to share and our bill came out to just under $ 45.

VERYBAD delivery. Took over an hour and they sent me the wrong dish. food was cold and the order was wrong. i tried calling but they didn’t care/i ordered Triple Lo Mein from China Village and they sent me the wrong dish. After trying to explain to three different people over the phone, the last person said«what you want??» and then told me to call seamless and hung up.

Recently I ordered pork dumplings, dumpling soup and Shanghai mini pork soup dumplings for delivery. I was pleased by how quickly my food took to arrive however cooked within my pork dumplings I found a piece of plastic the size of a half dollar coin… Terrifying to say the least.

Totally agree with above 1 star-raters! The food and service are terrrible at this restaurant. The worst Chinese food I have had ever. And they charged the food at unreasonaly high price. The staff asked us to pay 15% tips and stated it was a convention at Chinatown. Horrible nightmare.

Friendly waiters, amazing Peking duck, and super quick service. For a chinatown joint, I’m pretty happy with their service. The only thing is… if you’re FOB like me who has a taste for the«finer» things in life, you’d want their salt fish, aubergine pot to have more salt fish. But I think their Peking duck made up for the lack of salt fish. If you’re feeling not so adventurous and want something rather tame, try the mixed vegetable and fish soup. It’s basically a clear brothy soup with random non-fiberous veggies and white fish.

I love that I can order dim sum via seamless from here! My shrimp and asparagus and steamed shrimp balls were great! Very very minimal flour filing and made with fresh jumbo shrimp. The rice plates are a great option as they come with a generous entrée portion over white rice — all for $ 7. They even have a shrimp/chicken with asparagus option, which was great. Delivery is very fast too(less than 15 min to Soho).

I work nearby, so I order from China Village for lunch a lot. In terms of prices, this place can’t be beat! For under $ 7 you get soup, an entrée and rice. The food always comes really fast. I recommend the chicken in garlic sauce, the pepper steak, and anything with asparagus. If seamless had rewards, I would be eating free for a while from China Village.
