I was walking around down town site seeing with kids, starving. I stumbled upon this great deli. From the moment we entered we felt like we were home in our own kitchen. Fernando came over and helped get us seated. The place was packed and line out the door . So many options on the menu, the kids couldn’t decide, then the owner comes walking over and tell us, we can make you whatever you like. Both my children ordered special burgers, they were cooked to perfection. Usually they leave leave half the meal on the plate, not this time. I myself enjoyed a fresh made garden salad with avocado, nuts and seeds with one of the homemade dressings. Everything was fresh, crisp and delicious. On the way out the, owner runs over and gives my kids a bag of homemade chocolate chip cookies. He made their day. I’m giving Champs Gourmet 5 Stars for their excellent food, friendly/professional service, cleanliness and most of all, leaving a great impression on my children. They won’t stop talking about the nice man who gave them those delicious cookies.

I went there for breakfast every Friday after my job placement ended. The egg sandwiches are the best. They toast the rolls just right and the staff are some of the nicest people you could meet. They recently opened a 2nd store on Fulton Street. If you are in the Wall Street area and hungry you should stop at Champs.

Been here a few times, mixed feelings on the place. The coffee is on point. The food is as well, got lunch here twice, and enjoyed both times. The service was partially good. The coffee, pasty & danish side of the counter, service was quick. The deli/kitchen side, well, needs some adjustment. They’re right by the NY Stock Exchange. They take fax/phone orders. If you walk in, as I did, while the deli is working those tickets, you will wait. And wait. And wait. Not sure what the answer is but waiting 20 minutes for a cold cut sandwich, 10 am in the morning seems unreasonable to me. What is the 12−1pm wait, an hour?

Not impressed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing at this deli but my two items weren’t satisfying. I ordered a croissant and a latte. Simple, right? It was given to me at room temperature and I asked if I could have it warmed. The lady behind the counter asked if I wanted it warmed in the microwave and I said that was fine. I watched as she handed my croissant to another worker who put it in the oven for an entire minute! Everyone knows you can’t zap bread in a microwave for more than 10 seconds unless you want hard, crusty bread! Well… that’s what I got back. My latte lacked any flavor at all. Fail. The two stars are primarily because their deli sandwiches look good, however, I wasn’t in the mood for a sandwich.

Great place to grab breakfast on your way to work. They serve good egg sandwiches and on all sorts of breads and wraps. Fast and super friendly service by all the staff. Sad to hear they’re moving but glad to know it’s only up the street to Fulton.

I came here with my family on the day before Thanksgiving. We’d just spent a few hours taking the Statue and Ellis Island Tours and were ready for a meal! I love local places like Champs, in spite of the address and neighborhood, this is a small, quirky, and perfect place to grab a bite when you’re hungry. It’s not fancy but everything is here. We ordered a Rueben and a Turkey Club. Both were devoured in minutes, they were good! The staff was friendly and welcoming in spite of us clearly being tourists. That is appreciated. It was fun taking in a meal in such an unassuming place in the middle of the Financial District, made us feel like we were workers on a break!

Opted for 4 stars with this one. Ordered a sandwich with fries which overall was above average in serving size as well as fries that were actually freshly fried! Would recommend that anyone who orders from here to expect quite a wait around peak lunchtime since it seems to be a popular lunch location for many in the FiDi area.

I love champs ! The perfect deli to grab a quick lunch or to even order delivery on seamless or grub hub. When I worked in the financial district there were many days I had two meals a day(breakfast & lunch) from champs. The staff is friendly and courteous. The food is great — for a deli. One of my main orders was the spicy curly fries and a grilled cheese. The best grilled cheese you will ever have. For $ 5.

Visited for brunch after accidentally skipping breakfast(approximately 11am on a Wednesday). We were served extremely fast by helpful people behind the counter. Note to self: order by menu item number, not menu description. Prices were very reasonable and was very tasty. If you are visiting on a cold day, try not to sit anywhere near the doors, as the cold air certainly does blow through when someone opens that door.

Great lunch deli in the financial district. The manager goes out of his way to say hello and remembers repeat patrons. Lunch specials change daily and most sandwiches and such are under $ 10. The grilled Cuban sandwich is one of my favorites, but there are many other good options on the menu. This place is very busy during lunch rush, but they still manage to get everybody taken care of quickly. There are tables inside, so you will not have to go find a place to sit and eat your lunch.

Convenient deli located right off Broadway with a variety of sandwiches, breakfast foods, salads, cookies, snacks, etc. I only really come here for breakfast sandwiches and the occasional lunch sandwich. It’s a friendly environment with cheerful staff who are happy to help. Speedy food prep of tasty fresh food. Prices are reasonable! What more could you ask for in the financial district area?

I order from here pretty often, the food is average. however they are pretty quick at least when I order. Only real issue I have is i have to be exceptionally specific when i order. For example i have to put in big bold letter Melt cheese or something like that. Its kind of annoying but honestly i deal with it for the convenience.

What makes a deli of all things gourmet? The hell if I know and the name didn’t sell me on trying Champs as it was all about location with it being very convenient to a lot of the touristy places in Lower Manhattan. The menu itself is very large with tons of different sandwich combinations ranging from PB&J to a grilled Cuban to heroes to a triple decker pastrami and corned beef. They also have wraps, salads, a salad bar and a small selection of grill items like burgers & melts. One thing worth noting is that while Champs is open until 4pm the grill promptly closes at 3pm. I know this because for our visit we got there at maybe five of three and the guy who took our order asked me to hurry up since they were getting ready to clean up. I think the kids got grilled cheese and I just got something that was pre-done from their small cooler by the front door. Considering it’s NYC the prices are not too bad although paying nearly five dollars for a grilled cheese will make your head spin until you remember where you’re at. The food quality was fine although considering what was ordered a chimp could have made it. In the future I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back to Champs especially with a million little corner deli/bodega type places in the city all peddling the same stuff but it could be worse and the large menu for me is still a big plus.

These 5 baby carrots are ridiculous. LOL. It seems like the sandwiches across the street are more savory, and an overall better deal for the $. Had Champ’s grilled chicken avocado with spicy mayo on grain bread, but the chicken was dry and kind of annoying to eat. In an ambitious attempt at health, I opted for baby carrots instead of a free bag of chips(mini Wise original)… and what she handed me made me giggle. It’s worth«free» though, I guess.

I use to order Champs and have been pretty impressed with their food so I suggested doing a catering order with them to my company. BIGMISTAKE ! I had a budget through a vendor we use and went on seamless to place the catering order. Needed to feed 20 people so I ordered 4 foot longs– 2 American, one chicken, and one veggie. Order was confirmed and all was set . Hours later they kept calling my cellphone but I was at work. I called them back from my work number after listening to their voicemail and they told me they could not do 3 different kinds of sandwiches. I asked why was that an option on seamless then? Why are they changing it now ? A guy named Tom quoted me prices above our budget and above the seamless price. I told him 3 times that I could not go above budget and then he quoted me an option that only fed 15 people. I kept telling him that I would have to go someplace else and he said I would never find another place this late in the day. I explained I was at work and that I order through seamless because it’s easy and I’m busy at work. It was absolutely ridiculous . He then cancelled my order and 2 minutes later I ordered with another company through seamless. So simple . I think they didn’t want seamless to try and take a cut out of a large order but it wasn’t up for negotiation. We get catered lunches every week and they will be losing out on our business. They could have done the right thing and honored what we ordered on Seamless and all would have been good.

Glorified coffee cart but not as cheap and without that one guy who brightens your morning by having your coffee ready for you by the time you’ve walked up the block. So basically a worse coffee cart. If you order an egg and cheese sandwich on a roll you will LITERALLY get a fried egg and a slice of unmelted American cheese on a roll. This has been true every single time I’ve been there, and yet every time I find myself shocked(probably more of a me issue then a Champs issue at this point though). Iced coffee is decent.

Popped in here for lunch one day to try something new in the area. Place is packed at lunch time like most places, but things seem to move relatively fast. Had a chicken sandwich with honey mustard. It was mehh… Chicken didn’t seem to be the greatest quality and overall the sandwich just wasn’t that good. Most deli’s in the city aren’t that good, so it’s rare to find one that’s above 3 stars. This one is a perfect example of a basic deli that’s there for convenience and not food quality. However, there are many food options there, making it ideal for someone looking for a quick meal. I’ll probably pass on lunch going forward.

We came in randomly on Tuesday around 4 and tried to order chicken noodle soup. The nice lady said they are out so I got the vegetable beef barley– yum! Nice and hot and not overly salty like most soups. My dining partner got the prosciutto panini which was a little gross to me. I was not a fan of the brown tapenade which may have been olives but it looked like old nasty pesto. Would have been 2 stars but the people were nice to welcome us in right at closing and not rush us at all! Great service at this classic deli.

Went in for breakfast today and got a sausage, egg & cheese on a roll and tater tots. These tater tot might be the best I have ever had. $ 3.75 for a giant bowl of tater tots that were crispy and well seasoned. The breakfast sandwich was made fresh and was yummy. Theirr lunch and dinner menus are expansive and I have never had a bad sandwich here.
