I have been a customer for several years. Lately for the past year I have only continue to eat there once and awhile as a loyal customer. But unfortunately my stomach and taste buds wont allow me to do this anymore. They have revolted. Last night I went there with my hubby and my child. One the empanadas were extremely dry, the meat so dry it was crumbling, the color look grayish and no flavor. I ordered steak and thankfully the picture in the menu proved to me that it was steak because the taste sure did not. If I was blind I would have difficulties identifying this meat through the lack of flavor. My suspicions of the freshness of the meat were confirmed as my husband and I spent an a restless night sick to our stomachs. Sorry will not return anymore.

I am so very dissapointed with this place. Before today, it was one of my favorite places to eat. Not anymore. I went in today to have a nice enjoyable meal with some of fellow sisters, and was met with a very dissapointing and frustrating situation. Our friend is blind and has a guide dog. As soon as we walked in the door we were told if we wanted to come in we could, but the dog had to stay tied up outside somewhere. When we informed the manager that by law they can’t deny entry to a guide dog, he simply shrugged us of. We then asked to speak to the boss, but the boss didn’t even have the decency to show his face and talk to us about the situation. He simply said her dog could not come into the establishment and that we could call the police if we wanted to. We did. But the police was not of much help either. They said more or less that they can’t do anything about it. If those who are supposed to protect and advocate for the injustices aren’t doing so, who is going to? It is NOT okay to let such injustices go by unnoticed. The police did say that an owner can deny any person entry into their establishment, but that they can’t flat out deny a blind person’s guide dog entry, which is in fact what this establishment did. So, while our friend has to suffer these injustices time and time again, there are no reprecautions for those who engage in these injustices. No fine, no warning, nothing. I understand if this was a normal dog, fine, but this is someone’s eyes. This situation is like saying, «oh, i’m sorry, you can’t eat here because you are blind.» Denying her guide dog is denying a necessary part of her. And to think this is something the blind have to deal with day in and day out is just sickening. Even worse is that people are running these establishments without educating themselves about the laws that pertain to people with disabilities, and then when you try to educate them, they simply ignore you or make rude remarks. What a dissapointment! This place just lost some customers. For the record: New York Statutes: Civil Rights Law, Article 4-B, Sections 47 through 47c, 1986; Transportation Law, Section 147 New York law guarantees a blind person the legal right to be accompanied by a dog guide in all public accommodations, in employment, and on public transportation. No extra charge can be levied because of the dog guide’s presence, but the dog must be in harness and the dog guide user can be asked to produce an identification card. A blind person who possesses a dog guide is entitled to equal housing accommodations and cannot be charged a fee because of the dog guide. Public accommodations include resorts, theaters, restaurants, stores, hotels, places of recreation, and all other places to which the public is invited.(Sect. 47) Public transportation includes taxis, subways, trains, buses, boats, airplanes, and all other modes of conveyance offered for public use.(Sect. 47) Housing accommodations include public and private rental properties designed as sleeping quarters or residences.(Sect. 47) Employment includes state service or that of its political subdivisions and all other employment activity. Equal employment opportunity includes prohibition against discrimination based on blindness.(Sect. 47a) Violation: Any owner, manager, or employee who interferes with the above enumerated rights is subject to prosecution under several New York State statutes.(Sect. 47c)

I love this place! Excellent for brunch, or as a place to bring friends from out of town. The square it’s in has great shopping on all sides. The décor is charming, the service is friendly. I recommend the chicken cutlet salad and the empanadas. Always good! When a seafood restaurant serves good chicken, you know they’ve got it down.
