Went to Brother Jimmy’s last night to see one of my favorite local bands perform — Hell or High Water — who play a lot Grateful Dead, Neil Young, The Stones, etc. Really loved the space at Brother Jimmy’s — high ceilings and the room where the band played seemed huge to me. The bartenders were fantastic — I never had to ‘flag one over’ to get their attention and I appreciated how super friendly the staff was there! I only had Blue Moons to drink but some of my friends ate dinner(ribs, brussel sprouts, string beans, etc) and really enjoyed the food. Will definitely return(and hopefully my band will be back too.) As a side note, I’m used to feeling a bit cramped when I see HOHW perform at other venues due to the space issue, but I didn’t feel that at Brother Jimmy’s which was awesome!

Very popular place and good place to go in a group. We got the swamp juice which was more than enough to share between the 6 of us. It came with many straws and a toy alligator. The food was typical BBQ. The ribs were delicious as well as the sides.

So much meat, so much party. Generally mediocre in terms of quality, but this place is fun for groups that want to get a little trashy.

This is the 2nd Brother Jimmy location I have been to and I can say that I prefer this location better. It is roomy and located conveniently right off of Union Square. Just like the other location, the food is delicious. I think my favorite part about this location is the awesome daily deals they have. On Monday’s they have an endless all you can eat wings deal that is accompanied with beer and fries. Amazing Happy Hour option. Plus, their wings are yummy :)

I loved the marbled brisket here. Big selection of sides. Lots of good beers on tap. Had a nice conversation with a young woman behind the bar whose parents named her Fig. Will probably go back soon.

Let’s be honest the food is mediocre and the beer list leaves much to be desired. Why 4-stars then? Because this place is home to the best Browns Backer club in the city. If you are from Cleveland or enjoy watching people drink with unbridled enthusiasm because they cheer for a team that they always earnestly hope will win but know deep down in their hearts will inevitably crush their hopes and dreams time after time, Brother Jimmy’s is where you need to be on Sunday afternoons, and the occasional Thursday night. You will eat wings, you will drink cheap shitty beer. You will meet fantastic people who you suspect are tourists because people who actually live in NY can’t be that earnest or nice, but you would be wrong because Cleveland. You will cheer, you will be drunk, and the Browns will lose but you won’t care because you’ll be drunk and what else are Sundays for?

I like the overall look of the place and the staff were friendly enough. But they totally bungled a reservation I had set for a friend’s pre birthday dinner. I would give this location a solid 4 stars because the food is good and we liked the vibe. We were rolling 10 deep so I knew to make sure that I had a reservation set. When we got there they didn’t have enough seats for us. So on a busy Friday night we’re left standing near the entrance while the hostess tries to salvage the situation and by salvage the situation, I mean we wait for a couple tables to clear out. But unfortunately it left a sour taste in our mouth for the rest of the night although it could have been the swamp water. They did throw in some complimentary shots, so +1 star!

I feel that I’ve been to at least three Brother Jimmy locations in NYC and I always seem to get the same things, and all these things are gigantic in portions and delicious to satisfy that bar food craving. To begin with, their drinks are nice and sugary. I got the Charleston A.P. in memory of my recent Charleston trip and it was nice and sweet from the sweet tea vodka and lemonade. As for food, my friends and I got the Bucket O’ Hot Wings. I didn’t count how many there were specifically but had to be at least 20 I feel. We shared it between 4 people and there was one wing left over, uneaten! We got too full from being stuff by the BBQ Nachos, pulled prok. Plenty of everything: chips, guac, salsa, sour cream, pork and beans. A great complement to some beer and cocktails. The star is definitely the wings though. Plenty of sauce and meat. At $ 21, totally worth it to fulfill some drunk munchies.

The service was horrible, hostess was rude and not very knowledgeable of seating and operations. When asking a question I got a finger to the face suggesting me to hold on. I have never been treated like this in a restaurant. It is Halloween eve and busy however it does not mean that I shouldn’t receive appropriate and courteous service especially if I am spending money, what a great way to ruin the night for my friends birthday who was looking forward to eating and drinking there!!! Will never ever return to this location !! Get a better hostess one that knows how to speak with guests and conduct her self in a polite way. Didn’t catch her name however she was the rude hostess wearing what looked like a giraffes costume.

I love Brother Jimmy’s on the Upper East Side, 2nd Ave., so when I came to this location, I thought I would get the same service. It was a busy sports day, but once we were seated it took about 20 minutes for anyone to come take our drink or food order. Once I got my drink(Vodka soda), there wasn’t any vodka in it. I had to bother my waitress to send it back to the bar, while she was having shots with another table and chatting with them for another 10 minutes. Food was okay, but waitress never came around again to ask if we needed anymore drinks. Again, she was sitting with her friends so we flagged her down for our check. I’ll be avoiding this location in the future or avoid busy days.

Came on a Friday after 4. For the 3 sides doe $ 12. Mac and cheese was great, wings were good, beans where not and the tots were my favorite. Got the swamp bowl $ 24, they have a corporate rule where they can not serve one per one person, must be shared by two or more people. They have a neat charging station where you can leave your phone in a cubby and it unlocks by sliding you cars($ 1.99 service) they were having a band come later but had to leave. First waitress was rude but she was taken over and that waitress made it up. Outside seating was neat!

Good BBQ is plentiful in the city. We are talking about meat fall of the bones ribs and moist brisket and tender BBQ chicken and now we aren’t talking about that gross nasty stuff from Dallas. Brother Jimmy’s BBQ puts BBQ at an affordable price with good quality meats. The hooky interior that looks like Dolly Parton’s home just to add to the hillbilly atmosphere. We go the plate for 2 people to share. The ribs still slightly firm but tender. The lean brisket is moist but not dry. The BBQ chicken was equally as good. I love the fried pickles. Actually, this is where I had my first ever but in at the Murray Hill location with the bros doing beer pong. The service is friendly and food at a good price that’s why Jimmy is my bro. Looking out for my back.

Great Vibe. Really really good BBQ. No frills and inviting. really beautiful space as well. Service was strong. Nice cocktail and beer menu. If u are looking for a place that does Southern style well keeps it basic and keeps it real. This is an excellent choice!

How can you not love this place? The 3 star rating I see up there is so so so so WRONG. Brother Jimmy’s is awesome! Great food, friendly and attentive staff, laid back atmosphere… I mean everything you could ever want from a food establishment. Not to mention the food comes out super fast! I’ve been to Brother Jimmy’s twice and the first time the food was delivered to my table I almost told the food runner no it wasn’t our meal because I just couldn’t believe it was already prepared. Both times I went my friend and I got the Pig Out for Two which gives you like four different kinds of meat and 4 sides with cornbread. Depending on your appetite this could definitely feed 3 comfortably. The ribs are AMAZING. Brisket is also pretty good. They have four different kinds of BBQ sauces on hand at the table to use on your meal and its… ahhh…heaven. Drinks are solid as well. I always get the mango margarita… I know a margarita at a BBQ joint, don’t judge me. Either way, it’s delicious! Don’t listen to the crazies. If you’re not snooty and want a no frills good southern meal, come here! You wont be disappointed, seriously.

This is the second location I’ve visited and I like this spot a whole lot. This location has a hostess which was cool. Very friendly with the smile to match. If a menu has shrimp, 9 out of 10 times I have to order it. I started off with the ‘beginnings’ which is actually an appetizer but the portions can easily be mistaken for an entrée. We decided to share the Swap Water which was fun because we found ourselves competing with each other to finish the decent sized fishbowl. I ordered the Popcorn Shrimp with Cajun Mayo, Fried Okra with Mac and Cheese. The shrimp was delicious the mayo was just right. Not overly spicy but had a slight kick to it. I would say they easily served me 1.5lbs of shrimp. It was so much food. The mac and cheese was creamy albeit it would’ve been amazing with either bacon, lobster or crabmeat. The okra tasted rather lemony and not something I would order again. BJ’s version of Potato Salad was good although it needed black pepper and a pinch of sea salt for taste. Next time I’ll get either the Fried Brussel Sprouts or the Sweet Potato Tots as my sides.

What can you say about Bro J’s?! It’s Bro J’s! It’s never going to be anything other than a solid 3⁄5 but I’ll keep going back because… It’s Bro J’s! Average food, average service but cheap with great deals on food and drinks all week long and a great atmosphere, especially during college/NFL football season. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place for tourists but for 21 – 40 year old New Yorkers there’s no where better to watch a game(I would say Buffalo Wild Wings but the 2 in NYC suck). This review is for all BJ’s but: The one is Union Sq is for eating The one in Murray Hill is for drinking The one by MSG is a good stop on your way to the stadium The one UES/UWS — why would you bother going up there anyways?

happened to walk by with some friends and decided to walk in. I came here a little past lunch time and so i’m attributing to why I didn’t think the sandwich that i got was the best. I picked the carolina pull pork cause that’s what a lot of Unilocal’ers suggested and although I thought it was good, i think it had been sitting out for awhile and tasted a little dry and not very fresh. If i had come during prime time, i feel like it could have been a lot better. however my friends and i shared the fried pickles which was super hot and fresh and were super good. the place is pretty big and designed all texas’ish which was fun. there also was a photobooth which my friends and i definitely spent like 30 mins at and had way too much fun with. I do want to come back and try the ribs but for this one experience it was. aallrighttt.

Great spot for large groups! this review is long overdue but here it is! They have some great BBQ on the menu(as expected, since it’s apart of it’s name) lol. and great margaritas/drinks. The crowd was okay but we came during happy hour so the crowd was a mixture of college kids and corporate people. pretty diverse if you ask me. They also had a great-looking manager, who was fun to check out while sipping on those heavily-boozed drinks:)

I came here the other day for a friend happy hour. Nothing out of thisd world honestly and I’ve probably walked by here half a dozen times without ever looking at it twice. The wings are ok. The salad… yup we ordered a salad and a place that«BBQ» is in the title… no judgment I’ma chick and summer is coming… was drenched in dressing… just not my thing. Its good for HH after work and is close to Union Square with great access to the N, R, Q, 4, 5, 6 and L. Which let’s be honest with the connection the L gives you is all you really need in the city to get around.

I would say the non-food experience(setting, service, beer) was very good but not impressed by the food too much. The brisket sliders — maybe that is where I went wrong — were below average. The brisket and the buns they were served on were subpar. We split an order of the BBQ wings — again, below average, modest flavor and but you can definitely do better. I think the food is overpriced for the quality — although you can’t beat $ 3PBR on Tuesdays(all night happy hour). I am not inclined to come here again for food; however, drinks could be fun — its a nice atmosphere to hang with some friends. The food might deliver after a few beverages — but as they say on Unilocal«i’ve experienced better».
