can ambiance be listed as «Cold!»? more like, freezing! I can see why they have a 2.5 rating was about a 15 minute or so wait for the 1 guy to make me and my lady’s fish & chips and pulled pork and waffles on a freezing NY night, we couldn’t escape the cold in their small seating area. heating please!!!(would have left to a warmer location, but in our hunger for food qe ordered quick) and to me, everything was just average to below average the fries were probably the best part of the meal(tho that’s not saying much) the fish was ok, but I felt it was a little undercooked the pulled pork was ok, but not as great as pulled pork should be. It quickly got cold due to the lack of heating/from the weather outside and the waffles were really hard and dry: X the guy behind the counter was nice enough, but this place really is a 2.5

I love this place! I eat here at least once or twice a week via . It’s the best BBQ in the city and the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had. The corn on the cob is really good. If only would serve desserts, I would probably eat here every day. The prices are so cheap, it’s more economical than other places and often cooking. I can get by on a full meal that will last me for two for 7 or 8 dollars. Try cooking a meal for 4.00 from an NYC grocery store. Unless you’re at Keyfood, it’s not going to happen! If the owner is reading this, get some desserts!

Tried this place for the first time today. Was blown away by the chicken & waffles! The waffles were made to order right in front of you in an over-sized waffle maker and the delicious fried chicken made to order just right… crisp on the outside and juicy and moist on the inside and seasoned really well. All this for half the price you would pay in a fancier soul food restaurant. The servers were extremely accommodating and pleasant. I’m looking forward to being a regular and trying their other menu items. Really impressed!

Even with chicken in the name, I made the decision not to get anything with chicken. I got the baby back ribs. Usually BBR go for $ 15 per platter, but the low price is what got me excited. It was great! I put the lemon garlic sauce on it and it made it 10x better. There was a lot of meat on the bones, but not that much BBQ sauce. I also got this stuffed potato with pull pork because let’s face it, that sounds awesome. And it was. Onion rings were amazing too.

Wow, I really wanted to like this hole-in the wall joint next door to SVA, the owner was there and was a really nice guy, with great enthusiasm for his new venture. After all the fresh food hype, what I saw when I ordered was a shocker, the BBQ chicken came out of a white plastic bucket from the fridge, and went into the MICROWAVE, then onto the grill, slapped with sauce and served, yuck, the consistency was strange. Next time I ordered the Broasted Chicken, guess what, NO Broasting straight into a conventional fryer, nothing cripsy about it. Now, the signature side, Beans, had them two different times, first time the container was half filled but beans had lots of meaty bits added, and tasted good. Second time, 2⁄3 rd full not much meat at all. Tasted like Heinz. Each time, the beans were prepeared in the MICROWAVE, so much for the slow simmer BS. Oh, and don’t forget to check for your biscuit, they forgot mine twice!

I’ve B.E.E.N. to B.E.A.N.S a bunch of times already, and I gotta say, it’s the best damn fried chicken I’ve had in New York. The chicken is crisp and very juicy. Even the breast meat stays moist. The seasoning on the chicken is just right. I like to have the chicken with the«golden sauce». It’s spicy and sweet at the same time. I can’t say enough about the baked beans. So flavorful anf studded with pork meat. YUM! I’m going back today and want to try something else, but I can’t get away from that chicken! You don’t go to B.E.A.N.S. for décor, you go for the no nonsense fried chicken and friendly service.

Ugh, ordered delivery from BEANS one day after having it catered to a meeting. Thought to myself, hey, I remember that food tasting pretty good. I’m starving. Got myself some mac and cheese that was meh, and something that resembled pulled pork. It tasted so nasty, I literally almost started heaving halfway through forcing myself to eat a little bit. I hate wasting food, but this was so bad I had to throw it out. Never ordering from Beans again.

Wow, this place is awful. I ordered delivery from here tonight and was extremely disappointed. The chicken was extremely overcooked(I will say, the dipping sauce was pretty good), the coleslaw side was not even half full and was not anything to write home about, and the cornbread was very stale and fell apart to a point that it was also inedible. I called and let them know, and they were initially very kind and were sending me another order. After a few minutes(after picking at the stale cornbread) I realized I didn’t want the food after all. It had taken an hour before and it wasn’t worth waiting another hour for. So I called and the, initially nice, man on the phone was incredibly rude and hung up on me. Not sure that I was actually getting a refund, I called back. He yelled at me telling me that I was getting a refund. I told him there was no reason to be cross with me, that I was just unsure, and then he hung up on me again. Don’t waste your money or time. I can’t believe how RUDE they were, that actually surpassed my shock of how AWFUL the food was.

Ordered from here once, eh, Id rather stick with Pio Pio. Chicken lacks flavour and crispiness. Really not much to write, other than this is just another shot at a chicken restaurant.

DECOR: 2.5÷5 –4 tables SERVICE: 2⁄5 –Major CC accepted. –Free delivery(north to 34th, east to FDR, south to 14th and west to 10th Ave) –Student discount with Valid school ID. Careful, discount only applies if you pay cash! –The pulled pork is priced at $ 4.95 on the menu while the Mac N Cheese is $ 3.50. Add tax to that and the total comes to $ 9.20(before discount). I paid $ 9.80 after the 10% student discount. Unless the menu pricing is incorrect, I felt overcharged. FOOD: 2.5÷5 –Fried chicken skin is not crispy but seasoned. The meat is dry and not flavorful. –The fries are great. Crispy and not overly salty –The biscuit was average. –Pulled pork sandwich had great BBQ flavor except the pork was dried out which made it hard to eat without a drink on the side. –Mac N Cheese was served hot but as Nathan & Erika had said, its missing that cheesy flavorbomb. I’ve given this place two tries and both were lackluster. I won’t be coming back for a long time.

I’m always rooting for new places in the neighborhood. So when BEANS Chicken popped up on my seamless web account, I crossed my fingers as I put in my order. I got the 6 piece chicken wings(these are FULL sized wings) and the person on the phone was nice enough to do 3 cooked in hot sauce and 3 cooked in «golden sauce». I had never tried golden sauce before and I wanted to sample it and they were nice enough to make it happen for me. The wings were solid. If I’m ever in the mood I will get them again. They were perfectly cooked and juicy. Some have described them as messy, but HEY its fried chicken wings, what do you expect? The hot sauce is not extremely spicy(think more Frank’s Red Hot), but they were good. The golden sauce is kind of a mustard/sweet/vinegar sauce that was really good. A nice change of pace to the hot sauce based wings. They came with a biscuit which is always a bonus in this house(or apartment i should say). I also ordered the collard greens and they were excellent as I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to that side dish. Here was the big detractor(and the reason why this is a 3 star instead of a solid 4 star review). They have a whole section on the menu for baked potatoes. You can get any combination of butter, sour cream, chili, cheese, broccoli, etc. However, they charge different price points depending on the combination. I didnt want to go crazy so I just got the sour cream… The potato was super small… and had NO sour cream. That stuff just tends to bother me, so I have to ding them for it. That being said, its a new establishment so if things are up to par I may up the review. Definitely worth the try if you are in the mood for fried chicken.

i was excited to try a new fried chicken place in the neighborhood. unfortunately believe what Nathan W. said about the mac & cheese. really tasteless, no cheese, all pasta. nothing to recommend it whatsoever. in a container full of grease. super overcooked which leads me to the chicken. i tried the chicken and waffles, the chicken tenders, the ¼ chicken, and the steamed broccoli*(i know, well, whatever…). i had a drumstick and got instantly queasy from how greazy it was. even the chicken tenders were slimy. i am someone who likes junk food and fried chicken and stuff but even i couldn’t eat this food. for the first time in forever i actually threw out my dinner. i feel bad writing this review but i am also seriously unhappy that i tried this place out and it was so gross. there’s loads of other places to choose from — more expensive maybe but in this case you get what you pay for. for real. *overcooked, blech

I admit it, I have a soft spot for fried chicken. In fact, I specifically eat salad for days prior just so I don’t feel guilty for indulging in the crispy stuff afterwards. When I found out that there was a new fried chicken place near Gramercy, I knew I just had to try it. I ordered pretty standard fare — 3-piece fried chicken and a side of mac and cheese. Let me say that the chicken went above and beyond my expectations. The outside was perfectly crispy and had the right amount of salt(it won’t have you reaching for the soda like at Popeyes). The inside was lusciously moist and succulent. I was sad, though, that out of the three pieces I ordered, 2 of them were these tiny drumsticks. Need moar chiken! I really wanted to like the mac and cheese. Really, I did. It just lacked sodium and flavor. Instead, I had a box of beautifully colored mac and cheese that ultimately fell flat in the flavor department. However, the place just opened so I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and give it another shot in a few weeks just in time for my next fried chicken craving(it comes and goes).
