The food was bland and the service was ok. Notified us in the last min when paying check that there’s an additional $ 1 charge for lunch special if paid by credit card. The hostess should inform us when we sat in or they should posted on the menu somewhere.

Wonderful little restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen. They are a little dickish with their Groupons but the food is amazing, they have a great selection and we had a great time here. Loved the intimacy of this place; perfect place to take a significant other. I managed to find things here I liked that weren’t too spicy for me. I’d return and I’m pretty sure the person who dined with me would as well.

Not a bad restaurant for Indian food if that’s what you’re craving. However, it’s really nothing spectacular either. I ordered from their dinner special section. For $ 16.95 you get to choose a drink(beer, soda, or lassi), vegetable or meat samosas, an entrée, and naan or roti. Samosas were okay, I really liked the sauces that came with them! My friend tried their mango lassi drink but wasn’t too impressed by it. As for their entrees, I ordered the chicken tikka masala and asked for it to be medium in terms of spiciness level. But when it came, it wasn’t spicy at all… so I guess if you want that kick, go with spicy lol. The naan was pretty good, they give you a really large portion. It seems like a nice family owned restaurant but it really doesn’t cut it for me especially since it’s located in the city. There are many more places nearby that serve better food. Also service was a bit slow and we had to ask for the dinner menu after we were seated. They initially gave us a card with a list appetizers but I mean I’d assume a customer would be there for dinner if they came during dinner time. I shouldn’t have to ask a waiter to see the full menu :/ Overall, it was alright but I would’ve been more inclined to go to the other restaurants nearby if they weren’t so crowded…

Probably the WORST butter chicken I’ve ever had… In my life. I’m surprised, as I have ordered before and the sauce has always been creamy. My meal tasted like someone watered the sauce down to a broth-consistency. Gross and super cheap move!

The food is splendid, we had the garlic chicken, fish soup, Bombay platter and alu naan. The service is friendly and fast. Tashi was a great host. Looking forward to come back.

Food was bland and flavorless. The biryani was just plain awful. Don’t waste your money here.

I ordered take out here. I LOVE indian food and eat it all of the time. This place is way more expensive than most of the others in the area. I ordered a paneer dish Medium-they did not make it medium, the paneer tasted old-or pre-made. The cubes were small and chewy, almost like they’d been cooked for too long or heated for too long. The rice sucked – super watery and without flavor. I will not be eating here again. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say maybe their meat dishes are better? Doesn’t seem worth the raised prices. Oh, and don’t expect little sauces without paying extra. Most places give them for free.

Very cute and cozy restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen. We had veggie samosas, yellow lentil dal and mutter paneer. We were told that medium spicy was extremely spicy, so we ordered mild The food was pretty good, but mild spice means that it lacks any spice. Fortunately, a spicy pepper sauce was served with the samosas, so I used it to spice up my other dishes. There were only two other people visiting the restaurant, but our drink order wasn’t taken for about 15 minutes after we were seated. Once we placed our order, our food was delivered quickly.

Worst Place ever !!! Please don’t go to this place. Horrible ever experience. They have just spicy food without any good flavours/taste and i guess they get some free peas as they add peas to all dishes which you order. The staff is tooooo rude so avoid this place as they are busy doing their stuff and if you ask for something they mentioned that can’t you see we are busy and we you have to wait. Go to some better Indian place and don’t waste your money here as you will just get disappointed.

A-OK Indian Food. I had dinner just before they closed on a weeknight and it was just me and another table. The service was good and attentive. My server was knowledgeable and answered several of my questions. The Thali was pretty good.

Take this place for what it is. Came here after a Broadway show and it hit the spot! Make sure you tell them spicy. Medium doesn’t give you a kick. Portions are more than fair. Service is ok. Also please tell them you have the Unilocal deal before you get your check! Overall I’d totally recommend.

Not sure why this place has such a low rating. The food is good and the service was great. Stopped before going to a show and they were able to get me out with ample time to spare! Really enjoyed their naan. I would do this as a pre-theatre meal again anytime!

Excellent flavors. Everything we ordered was positively delicious. Great service and even though we had a groupon deal, the prices on the menu were very affordable. Planning on coming back the next time we’re in the mood for Indian!

I’ve been back since my first review. The unprofessional but lovely hostess was not there. The person who appeared to be the manager was a different person than last time also. This man was very helpful. I was in a rush to get back to work and he sat me promptly and took my order. Food came in good time. I ordered the vindaloo again, but in lamb, not goat. I ordered it spicy and boy it WAS spicy this time; And more flavorful. I’m pleased that they were able to accommodate my needs and the food was better this time also. I gave an extra star.

I’m assuming this is a mom & pop operation, which can be a plus for some people — but for me it’s the only way to explain how the service was soooooo slow. And we were the only people in there. I can deal with a tiny railroad-style hole in the wall. I had the paneer tikka masala, which I’ve never seen on a menu before, but wasn’t, like, bowled over by. My dad had the aloo gobi, and said there were too many peas(but he’s crazy — how can you ever have too many peas?). Luckily we weren’t in a rush and had plenty of time to kill — but, you know, after we’d finished our food & felt weird sitting there staring at each other for twenty minutes, I decided to get up and call over the hostess(who was just chillin in the front, greeting the zero customers) for the check. They almost didn’t accept the Unilocal deal, cause no one there seemed to know how to take 25% off a bill. They were literally phoning friends for help. Was it terrible? No. Was it great? Wow, no. Will I try the place across the street next time? Yep yep yep.

I can’t believe the reviews on this place compared to mine. I popped in because my Brother lives right next to it, and It was convenient. I ordered the butter chicken and thought it was fantastic. 3 of us ate there and all 3 of us loved it. I have no idea what the waiter’s name is, but he was attentive and polite. I also forgot my sunglasses on the table and he came running outside to give them to me.

Pretty standard Indian food… nothing spectacular but it’s a good quick fix if you’re having a craving. I ordered delivery from Seamless and it took a little longer than expected but only by 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken korma which was okay. The rice it came with was actually really good. I also got the onion-stuffed naan bread, which often times, when you order delivery of naan bread, it’s rubbery by the time it gets to your door since it needs to be eaten freshly made. Theirs was still good so that’s a plus. Decent prices, large portions, okay food. Like I said, just a quick fix.

Bad Indian food made worse by the fact that the guy who I am assuming is the owner yelled at and embarrassed one of the ladies that worked there due to a mistake she made. He made her cry and made me regret not checking Unilocal first. Avoid this place like Ebola!

I was looking for a quick place to grab a good meal and study a bit over lunch. This one grabbed my attention and I was glad I stopped. There were 2 other groups seated and overall it was very quiet for a small and narrow restaurant. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and naan. It came with a shredded lettuce salad that was fresh and had a balsamic dressing on it. Quickly after the main course came out with the naan. The tikka masala had a generous portion of chicken in it and a great taste and blend of spices. Everything looked incredibly fresh. It easily could have been split between 2 people… But I just don’t like to share. The best part by far was the naan. Never do I remember such a perfect, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, bubbles on the top and piping hot naan. It was truly the best I’ve ever had. Positives: The lunch was under $ 10. That’s pretty impressive for a hot meal and great service in the city. My glass was never empty, the food came out quickly and there was wifi. Negatives: they wouldn’t accept the 25% off coupon I had because it was lunch, although the coupon said nothing about it having to be dinner. I took off a star for that, but I still think lunch was a good price. I would return again next time I am in the city. It was good food, good service, and excellent naan!
